I always drive through in the winter for the beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance. Never seen it in the fall before and it was busy! Too be expected as my buddy owns Fern Valley Farm in Wilbraham so I already have my apples for the year. But, my girlfriend and I stopped for some cider and a cider donut at one of the stands off to the side in the parking lot. I had a cider lemonade which I enjoyed. Babe had a regular cider which was not to her liking as, in my opinion, coming from Michigan there is a lot of culture she's getting used to around here. Our tour guide took us around all the facilities and let us interact with each animal. We went inside every gate and touched animals, I got to hold a chicken, piglet, rabbit, was able to pet cows and sheep. They have a mini farm store too where you can buy milk, cheese, meat, yogurt etc This is a wonderful activity for kids and adults alike. I would absolutely come back!

**November 2025: Tuesday Early Afternoon Visit**…read more For my Vermont portion of the roadtrip I really wanted to visit a maple syrup farm. I called the day before to confirm hours and inquire on potential tours and they indeed were in operation despite the cold season. We arrived around 1pm and entered the small gift shop which had their maple syrup on display in various sizes. They also sold some Vermont made Jam, homemade magnets and some other souvenirs. The shopkeeper greeted us and agreed to give us a tour and educated us about the maple syrup process. She took us out back and told us and showed us the blue pipes that transport the syrup to their backhouse which then heats it up so all the liquid dissipates. At the end of the tour we got to sample both the Medium Amber and Dark Robust syrups. My friend and I definitely preferred the Medium Amber. I bought small maple leaf shaped jars as well as the maple candy to bring in my checked bag and my friend asked if they could ship his gallon to California. This maple syrup has a more molasses taste to it and I think I'm ruined on store bought generic maple syrup lol. Overall, a fun visit!

We each had an alpaca (two llamas) and hiked to to the top of a beautiful mountain with a great view! She led us down and we were completed in 2 hours. She is a kind soul who led the children around the farm and allowed them to hold chickens, pet goats, and observe a 40 pound turkey. She answered every question they had and it was overall, a great experience! She takes a donation for her time and it is well worth it. We plan to come back again in the spring when it is warmer and the view changes with the season.

We made a trip out to the farm this summer to "pick your own" and that was definitely worth the drive from Boston. Lots of fresh veggies and flowers all included in the cost of your normal share. Everyone there was very friendly! The only downside to the CSA is the occasional lack of variety. LOTS of greens most of the summer, and heavy on the root veggies in the fall/winter. For the most part it's a good variety, but could mix it up a bit more maybe? Overall a great value and we'll be back next summer for sure!

When we pulled in we were warmly greeted by the farm owner Debbie and her mother. They did a great job of helping us find the right mums we were looking for and actually helped us buy some for our upcoming wedding. They were extremely polite and actually told us that we could house our mums there until our wedding day. They said that they would take care of the plants without any additional charge which was a relief for us. The price is here also reasonable which was an added plus. The customer service here alone warrants five stars but I can't talk highly enough about their quality. The flowers that they have, as well as the other plants and gourds are incredible. We will continue to shop here in the future and we are excited to hopefully buy our Christmas tree here come winter.

The whole experience took about 15 minutes, definitely not the type of heartwarming traditional Christmas experience we were expecting when parroting a local family owned business. I will say that the young man who helped us was ultimately very friendly and we are happy with our tree, we just won't plan to return here again.
