I have just received a letter from TD that they went ahead and renewed my mortgage without my…read moreconsent and increased the interest rate by 1.5 percent adding an additional 26.00 dollars weekly to my payment and 11/2 years to my amortization. I called to complain and try to resolve this issue. So far no luck. They have sent it to a complaint committee which I will hear back from in 5 business days. They sent me a letter 4 months ago to remind me that my mortgage would renew on July 1 but did not call me to set up an appointment as the date got closer. They have ALWAYS called me in the past to set up an appointment for a renewal. I call my financial adviser prior to the renewal and he was on holidays until July 12 therefore they should have waited to change ANYTHING and they say that they can't reverse it for at least a month. So they are taking an additional $26.00 weekly for this month which puts an additional $104.00 dollars in their pocket. They should have called me before the renewal to discuss my renewal option and not go ahead and increase my interest rate which increased the amortization by 1 year and 12 weeks. I have bought 6 houses in the last 45 years and have never had such impersonal customer service!!!!! Shame on you TD. I am now looking for a smaller institution like a credit union because the banks are getting too big to take the time to give the client a call prior to the mortgage renewal to discuss renewal options.
