I got My 25 foot electric plug Out and realized every campsite needed a 50 plus foot 30 amp plug!! So if you come here bring a longer extension cord !!!!! read more

We meet my sister & her family for the weekend. Beautiful view to lake & you could see LBL too. Hwy68 can be seen from site & is lit up pretty @ night. Site 29 & 30 have decks best view in campground. Shower & bath house is very old & Power & electric was about 30 ft from campsite (Make sure you have plenty of hose & extension for electric) We spent 1 day out on lake. read more

It's hard to add much to the previous review. Ever time we stop here it is as good as it was previously. The lunch menu is very good with a nice variety of assorted foods to choose from at reasonable prices. The view of the lake from the dining room is spectacular. read more

First off let me say I am not a very picky person but this really bothered me so here it go's. Location is beautiful and easy to find. The main building or "Lodge" smelled and looked very dated. We walked around the whole property and it looks very run down, no signs of any updating. We were able to check in early " About 3 hours" but was charged $25.00 to do so. We stayed in cottage 268. The side walk was steep with oddly placed steps and at night had little to know lighting. Once we got into the cottage it smelled very musty and moldy. The cabin looks like its never had any kind of updates, furniture was old and very outdated. If I had saw pictures of the cottages online I would have never booked it. Furnace filter was nasty and full of dog hair, I went to Lowes and bought a good 3M allergy filter and replaced it. We had black mold in the bathroom and kitchen. This was a daddy/daughter get away and it was horrible, anytime we were in the cottage she couldn't stop sneezing. At check out I told the man at the desk of the things I found and he just looked at me and said thanks. I would NOT recommend this place!! read more

We checked in earlier today and have been pleasantly surprised by every step along the way. Our process began last night when my husband called to ask some questions about the cabins, etc. He spoke with a lady named Linda at the front desk area about reservations, etc. (I am visiting with an elderly friend for a Makeawish kinda trip.). She was very helpful & friendly. Today we arrived around 2:00 and began the checkin part of the day. Imagine my surprise to find Linda there. At first i didn't realize it was her until after she had once again been very kind. She went above and beyond to make the process as simple as possible. From her friendliness, to her going out to the van to assist me, she was great. My elderly friend didn't feel well enough to try to go in because he was tired. She went to the van to check his ID matched his card info, etc. I am disabled as well, and I can't thank her enough for doing that for us. After reading the reviews I have seen here on Yelp, I was a little leery, but we are simple folks & it doesn't take much to make us be ok with our surroundings. So, we decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did. The cabin we are in is very, very nice & extremely clean. I even looked for dirt and couldn't find it. The only place I saw that showed even wear is the table out on the screened in porch. It could use a coat of plastic paint, but it's as clean as it can be because of stains, etc. There is a massive flat screen tv in the living room area and a nice sized one in the bedroom too. The linens are all very clean & even the fridge looked almost brand new. While I cannot speak to any other cabins specifically, if they're anything like this one, you should be just fine. The bed is very comfortable & my friend who prefers couches to sleep on is also happy. I would give this place a chance & have every intention of returning to bring my husband and maybe even some nephews sometime. Beautiful resort near the LBL. Good restaurant, lovely lodge with tennis courts, pool and archery range. They have a nice marina. Also the cabins here are really nice and well kept. I love coming here and staying in their cabins which some are pet friendly. The cabins are all updated with flat screen tvs, and wifi. Everything is painted a nice beige. read more

Such a disappointment! We are in the area on business and wanted to relax in the evening. Came to check in before meetings and our room wasn't ready- ok, please call when it is. 4 HOURS LATER- at 5:50pm we arrive and ask if our room is ready----- oh sorry Lori made a note we were suppose to call and we must have missed you! You are kidding us! After a long day of driving- meetings and this is how we are treated? The lady couldn't even look at us and was trying hard to get rid of us! Let me start from the beginning- there is a photo attached that shows the check In Desk- LOL- or should I say- the wall to hide the employees! BOTH times an employee saw us and chose to hide behind the wall until they were told by a passing by employee that they had guests waiting in line! We did receive 2 drink tickets (that they give everyone checking in)and were told there were appetizers for us as well- what a joke as you can see 20 minutes after it started this is what was available! Sad! We opted out and went to Cindy's On the Barge!!!! Last but not least- when we finally got into our cabin- lol there is NO VIEW OF WATER ANY WHERE!!!!!!!!!! None! it is a forest! We decided to give a one star as the cabin is clean and comfortable. If there was a water view it would be good! If the staff had any kind of personal service it would be better. We are SO DISAPPOINTED that the staff could care less- I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Sad- because it has potential. Next morning - we go to the main desk to check out- Lori was there and asked how our stay was. My husband very nicely told her the situation and all she said was "Oh, do you need a receipt?" Then we walked down for the buffet and there were 6 biscuits left- no potatoes, fruit and I could go into ALL of the food was out. Mind you there was a line of about 10 behind us. As we seated our selves we passed a worker and I said very nicely, excuse me the food is out and before I could finished, Courtney very abruptly said we know and turned from me and walked away. ( all she needed to do explain nicely). Actually is was sad! We will go some where else for breakfast. The resort has potential, The cabin was cute. Some of the staff needs to realize the professional way to be. Almost been a month sice we stayed here, and seems as tho the Manager has been busy so we have yet to hear anything from our emails. I am sure we will hear from him soon as he gave us his email address and we have tried twice so far to reach him. read more

We stayed in the lodge so in fairness the cottages and camp grounds may be much better. First the rooms are very dated, we stayed in a king bed room and seriously the double bed head boards are still on the wall. The rooms are also beat up with scuff marks and worn carpeting. Walls are very thin so having a private conversation is impossible. The bathroom is very small with a pedestal sink so there is nowhere to sit anything. I wear a cpap to sleep and the power outlet is in the middle of the bed between the head boards. Ran the bath water for 10 minutes this morning and it never even got to lukewarm so cold shower. Also the bathtub was stained with mildew and rust. The reason I'm going with 2 stars is the lake is amazing, but this lodge is really bad. read more

We stayed at the resort located in Kenlake State Park and it was lovely. The view is amazing and can not be beat. They have a restaurant on site which is very convenient and tasty. The rooms included a coffee maker but could use a mini-refrigerator. Super clean and the staff were very nice. This lodge was built in the 60's and some parts show its age. The basketball and tennis courts need attention. They have not weeded them in years. It would be helpful if they had a path down to the lake for people who are brace enough to go down the hill. Please keep this in mind THIS IS A STATE PARK RUN BY THE STATE. THEY DO NOT HAVE A TON OF FUNDING. One major thing that needs attention is when the staff shuts down the pool they simply shut off all of the lights to the pool and on the pool deck. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ASAP. read more

Basing my 3 Stars for the hotel which just seemed outdated and could hear everyone in hallway while trying to sleep but had basic needs such as TV, WiFi, bathroom was small but useable, A/C, somewhat comfortable beds, etc. Best part was the vouchers we received for breakfast. Hello 1955. Did you like Dirty Dancing? Well here's the place where you can put yourself into the movie, complete with period piece decor, food, and a big-ass dessert menu. And you can stay on premise, too, just in case you want the experience to extend beyond dinner. The only real difference is that there's no coat and tie or dresses required to eat here...but I'm sure they'll be pleased if that's how you show up. The food was more or less what I expected: southern, everything fried, and extra helpings of "you want gravy with that?" I was a little bit disappointed in the quality of some of the entrees (the catfish was overly battered, the steak was not seared, the hot brown was more like a hot casserole with some bread). But my father scored with the only true vegetables of the week. His side salad was actually a side veggie tray: tomatoes, raw broccoli, fresh carrots, whole mushrooms, and only a couple of lettuce leaves. No, this place gets higher ratings than it should simply because there aren't many places like this left in the country. Plus, you're on a hill with big picture windows overlooking Kentucky Lake. So what if the food is a bit marginal with added heart attack accelerant? It's not like I live here or anything. read more

The rooms in the lodge and the cabins are nicely decorated. We were there for a family reunion. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices. We used one of the shelters near the campground and it was a nice private setting with bathrooms, electric and a short walk down to the lake. The only concern we had was when the pool closes at night there is no warning/reminder. They just turned the lights out which is a safety hazard when you have a pool full of kids and adults. Luckily we had a few flashlights so we could ensure no one tripped over anything or at the bottom of the pool. There were plenty of things to do near by & restaurants for large groups. read more

My wife and I booked a stay online as we were passing through the area. Kenlake lodge is very old and could use some updates. It was old back in 1974 when I was a student at nearby Murray State University. We stayed during the off-season, late October. Other than a few fishermen, there was no one staying there mid-week. The place was practically deserted. The rooms are clean but could use some updating. Very quiet room (should be since very few rooms were occupied). Nice views of Kentucky Lake with plenty of walking trails. There was no breakfast buffet since the lodge was so empty. Instead we got breakfast vouchers and could order any meal off the menu. The breakfast offerings were very diverse and very tasty. The restaurant was closed except breakfast and weekend dining. This should be noted online when people are booking. We had to drive to Aurora to find something to eat the night we arrived and most of the restaurants in Aurora were closed. Wish I had driven on to Murray and stayed there. Nice place for a family summer vacation with emphasis on lake and outdoor activities. read more

We stayed in a 5 wheel on the campground site. It is adequate. The name on the reservation card was not mine which caused some confusion and a little concern since it was a holiday weekend we were afraid it had been double booked. Fortunately it was not. The spaces are very close together, very tight to get in the spots. The website says the spot we had was on level ground, it was not level ground. I did not need to use the bathroom facilities. There is a small path to go down to the lake, but there is not a beach and there is not a swimming pool. So... you are on the lake without a place to swim. The resort itself does have a swimming pool, but it is not open to the campground. If I were in a pinch for a place to stay, I would go here, but I hope to find a location with full amenities next time. read more

We camped at Kenlake State Resort Park over Memoral weekend. We stayed at the campground and tent camped. We will never, ever, ever go back. I recommend not using the campground there. Here is why: 1.) While it is on the lake there is NO lake access at the campground. No place to swim, etc. 2.) It is VERY poorly managed. We were there 3 days and saw the manager 1x....over a major holiday weekend with a full campground. 3.) Bathrooms were disgusting. No toilet paper, dirty sinks, filthy toilets, clogged showers and over flowing trash cans. 4.) The playground on site was mucky because the base is dirt-sand. The equipment was mediocre at best. 5.) The pool advertised when looking at the state website cannot be used by campers only those lodging at the hotel/ cottages. The 1x we saw the manager we asked were do we go to swim- he sent us to Barkley State park resort. We get there and 1- are not allowed to use the outdoor pool 2-the river swimming beach was still CLOSED 3- were allowed to swim in the indoor pool for a fee (which the receptionist at the resort forgot to mention but the attendants at the pool did) 6.) picnic tables are a novelty. not every campsite has them..unfortunately we got a site without one. 7.) Sites are poorly planned. The lake view sites were amazing, with decks and views. But the majority of the sites in the center of the park were very small. Ours was in fact so small that our camping neighbors let us use their green space since they were in a camper. 8.) Poor management= rules not followed which = safety issues, parking issues and lots of other issues. The rules for the sites are 2 vehicles per site. So if you have a trailer/ RV it is your RV and your vehicle. Great. BUT most people had that, plus their trailer, plus their boats, plus their ATVs, or another car. It looked like a boat & car show. People had problems getting up and down the road. Limited space meant you better park your vehicle with some magic or end up with some dents and scrapes. 9.) Poor Management= rules not followed. Rules states no noise after 11 pm and anyone not lodging at the grounds must also leave by then. On our first night our neighbors serenaded us with country music sung and played by them. Hoots and howls. Then finally at almost 1 am, they decided to call it a night which meant all their buddies (with their extra large loud trucks) had to leave...big truck engines and lights flashing every where. When we expressed our concerns to the manager, he simply said with a holiday weekend and a full park it wasn't plausible to enforce the rules. Of course when he leaves the site by noon everyday and doesn't return, i can see the difficulty in enforcing anything. It was not a good experience for us. We won't be heading back to the Kentucky lakes region anytime soon. read more

Lovely turquoise colored walls with two beds and a TV, a small table to the side, and a fine bathroom to boot. AFter driving all day my wife and I were ready for a good meal and relaxing atmosphere. What we found was relaxing atmosphere and a great meal. The steak I had was fixed to perfection and my wife said her chicken was great. my sincere compliments to Toby the chef, who took the time to come out front to talk to us, as well as the Kentucky State Park Department. We stayed at the campground. We had reserved site #66. It was so slanted we could not get our trailer level on the asphalt pad. We had our trailer tongue as low as it would go. We had to move sites. There was not a level spot on this site to even set up a tent. We moved to site #64. It was a bit better but still not level. The asphalt pads are only about 20, maybe 22 foot long. The sites are very small. The only sites that were level are the ones at the front of the campground that are in the direct sun. The campground is very old looking. We seen the manager one time, when I went to tell him we could not get our camper level. You have no access to the lake. No swimming area. It definitely needs to be refurbished. The bathhouse was clean. It was very quiet....but we checked in on Labor Day and everyone left that day. We will not return. read more
