That alone was extremely intrusive, but what was truly concerning was they copied her ex-husband on the email. The case involved only her, yet they felt it appropriate to include a spouse (or in this case an ex-spouse) in an email and case involving an adult middle-aged woman. The entire interaction carried a blatant patriarchal undertone, as though an adult woman cannot be approached directly regarding her own legal matters without involving a man. In 2026, that mindset is unacceptable. This would have been deplorable even if it was her actual husband copied on the email. It was, in fact, her ex-husband of many years. The misogynistic and patriarchal tone were clear. To this firm, women are not capable of handling their own affairs without a man being kept in the loop. Take heed, women. There are many law firms that value your autonomy, intelligence and capability. This is not one of them.
