This is suppose to be a fitness trail it is the worst one I have seen. Every station was destroyed by weather and vandals, because of non existing up keep. I live in New City use some of the tax money for upgrades to the parks. Bring your dogs good place for them.

Can you find this face along the trail?

We absolutely love this park! We have been coming her for over 16 years. We enjoy the trails, dog walk, park, basketball courts, soccer field, and children's playground. We are big fans of the trails on pavement and off. The park is beautiful, and has many hidden treasure.

This park was very "meh" for me. They have trails that split into different directions, so it does get confusing and you'll find yourself walking through the woods and just a bunch of nothing but trees. The most exciting thing that happened on our hike was when we encountered deers. That was funny because the moment we saw the deers, my precious little sister let go of our dogs leash and booked it! I was upset at her but I couldn't help but to laugh at how she started running away and Venus just followed her, not knowing what was going on (LOL). Then, we tried to find the waterfall and a guy told me it isn't an actual waterfall (but the pictures that another Yelper posted looked very convincing, so someone is lying. Grr). On our way back to the car, we, or I, tried to make it not so boring by telling my sister scary stories and reminding her of scary movies we watched that took place in the woods, I'm the best, right? The only person who really enjoyed their time was Venus. Would I recommend this park? Probably not. There are better ones. You just have to have patience here, it seems like.

A nice spot to end the hike on

A friend and I went on a hike here a few months ago and definitely got lost numerous times. We were following the general map that was posted as well as the instructions we found online. We wanted to complete the longer trail, but our first time around the hike, we mistook some of the markers and ended up on the fitness trial hike. We were super disappointed until we realized we were on the wrong trail! After fixing our mistake we found our way into the wooded areas and were able to find the spot that everyone talked about. The hike isn't as long as you expect it to be but it leads to an old water dam. When we got there, there were a few young kids smoking so I guess it's a common spot for the local kids to go to? Anyway, I got some nice pictures and a good workout out of it!

Had a great time during my Sunday afternoon visit with the Mrs. and 4 year-old. Got there at the entrance on Main Street. There is a wooden sign which names the park so you will know where to turn in off of Main Street, though my navigation was instructing me to turn a bit up ahead into the other entrance, which would have been closer to where the baseball fields and basketball courts were. The parking lot by the soccer fields had a little area with a few picnic tables with covering over it (gazebo-like) as well as bathrooms. I am not sure the policy on reserving the area for events though. Before you enter the hiking area, there is a map that shows the different trails. There were a few trails, about 6 or so. Each trail had a different color. As you walk along the specific trail, the trees are marked with a small square of the color of the corresponding trail. I think the perimeter of the entire park is about 2 miles, this is by combining the purple trail (fitness trail) with the white trail, which directs you around the perimeter of the entire park. The fitness trail was great with small stations of stretching and mini workout instructions such as jumping jacks and leg raises throughout the trail. I was telling the Mrs. that if you loop this trail, probably a mile or so, 2-3 times and stop at every station to do the little workouts as instructed, you would have yourself a nice little regimen. There are a few other trails in and throughout the park that we didn't get to explore. I know there is a dog park in there somewhere and we did notice a bunch of different people walking their dogs. I did love that everyone we bumped into were super friendly and more than willing to point us in the right direction. To get to the waterfall, which is a main reason we decided to visit, we took the purple trail to and hopped onto the white trail. You will a creek at the corner of the park, once there you follow the running water. The "falls" are small but you will hear it as you get closer. Once you arrive, you see a small waterfall with a nice creek area. I took a few photos and continued onto the white trail to come full circle back to the soccer field. No fees or Rockland county residency requirements from what I saw. An overall great experience. The trails are straight forward and short (as far as hiking trails go), so this is a good starter trail for anyone. My 4 year-old was a bit tired after walking back, as going to the falls was a bit more exciting than coming back, but as soon as we got back to the car and i took out the soccer ball, he had more than enough energy to run up and down the field with me. Some FYIs: lots of private houses without fences along the perimeter of the trail, talked to a regular walker who told me that there are coyote in the park so stay alert, I am sure there are tons of creatures in there, but we only saw squirrels, chipmunks and a big spider. Lastly use discretion when hiking/walking like staying hydrated and wear comfortable shoes with good grips as there are some steep hills if you decided to walk off the trail. Enjoy the trails and fields.

Great place to take a walk. Wish everyone would leash their dogs, but other than that, we love to take the family there

Second, there are two ways in from the parking lot. To the right is the more immediate route. To the left is a lengthy--and beautiful hiking trail. It's at least a mile long, with hills, and has a deteriorating exercise path. This leads out into a pasture with paved walk ways. There are not a lot of signs, so just stick to the right and just when you think you will never find it, you will eventually reach the dog park. The park itself is a huge swath of grass surrounded by a fence, which thrilled both my pups. There's not a lot of tree cover, nor is there available water, which was a downer. As we took the trail to get there on a hot summer day, they only had so much energy left to run around, especially after we ran out of water. Still, the park entrance is closer than we realized from the other side, and there are bathrooms, and thus, a sink with water available if you need it. If we are ever out that way again, we'll visit.

Since this run is off the beaten path from the rest of the park, many people have their dogs off leash on these paths, which the park doesn't allow. From parking lot it is about a 1/4 mile walk up a trail to this dog run. Add water, more seating and shade and this is possibly a 3 star run. Also add a separate small dog run and better ground cover and it could be a 4 star run. Dog runs/parks I have been to so far: http://www.yelp.com/list/nyc-area-dog-parks-runs-queens-5
