Good dog park in the Grove, very spacious area for the pups. There are separate areas for large and small dogs, and there are doggy bags available. A couple of cons...first there are no public bathrooms anywhere. Second, parking spots are very limited, especially during peak hours. And lastly, there is very little shade, so you will cook during the summer months. A couple of improvements here and there would make this the best dog park in Miami. read more

We stopped by with our one-year old pup the day Kennedy Park Dog Park reopened after COVID-19. Unfortunately, there weren't any other dogs there, which was a bummer! Not sure if it isn't as popular, or if it was just because it reopened. There's some agility equipment and places for the owners to sit, which is nice. There was a water fountain for the dogs and humans, poop bags, and a few trash cans. The dog park is divided into two sections- one for big dogs, one for small. The dog park consists of patchy grass, which when we visited, was long and unkempt. This was likely due to the fact that it had just reopened, but it was really itchy against my legs. The dirt wasn't much of a problem when we went, but I could see it getting dusty/muddy depending on weather conditions. There's also not a lot of shade, which makes me uncomfortable, as my large breed, long(ish) hair dog gets hot easily. If you're in the sun, it can get HOT; there's not much of a breeze. Thankfully parking wasn't too bad when we went, but I could see it being a problem during busy hours. There's a bigger parking lot a bit further down, but it's a real walk to the dog park. It's a good size and has potential, but based on our initial experience and the quality of other dog parks in the area, we won't be back. read more

In my experience coming to Kennedy Park a few handfuls of times, most dog owners are responsible (at least in the section housing the smaller breeds), they watch their dogs and correct them or take them away if they're too aggressive, and they clean up after them. Most simply want to bring their dogs so they can play with the others, run around and burn off some pent up energy and maybe a few calories. There are a few picnic tables, one under a small thatch roof shelter, there are convenience bags to pick up after your pup, and a water fountain with a basin for the dogs to drink from. As others have stated, there's not much shade (especially on the side where the smaller breeds are enclosed, as they cut down the lone, large shade tree some months ago) and the turf here in both enclosures is mostly loose dirt, which means dusty dogs after they've played here and mud on rainy days, but our dog prefers this park over Blanche, as here at Kennedy, they separate the dogs into 2 separate, large enclosures - 1 for dogs under 25 pounds, and another for dogs over that size. Parking for Kennedy Park in general can be a bit tricky, especially on weekends. There are only 2 lots, a smaller one near the frozen lemonade truck that's been vending here for decades, and another lot over near the volleyball courts and playground. While many cars do park along the roadway adjacent to this park, in recent weeks police were heavily ticketing cars that had parked there. read more

The name is appropriate: unless your dogs are meaner than the others, they will indeed be chow. The first time we went I just assumed that the nasty little pack of dogs picking on everyone was a fluke. The owners were more interested in catching up on local gossip and didn't seem to notice or didn't care that their precious babies had turned into downright fang-showing, snarling little bullies. But that does happen on occasion at the dog park, and I've learned to let things slide a bit. Same thing happened the other two times I went, ergo no fluke, time to move to a different park. Must say, in all fairness, that it's too bad - Dog Chow is in a great location, surrounded by more park, a hot dog stand at the entrance to boot. And the hot dogs were really good. It's been over a year, maybe I'll go back and try again. Could be that the obnoxious owners (can't really blame it on the dogs, after all) have now become college juniors or moved to North Carolina, you never know. read more

Great big park for dogs. There is a large dog park and small dog park. The park does lack trees, so it can get really hot if it is sunny. It's on the water and overall Kennedy park (the main park where the dog park is in) is great to walk around the path or have a picnic. read more

Came here on a Friday morning. Skippy had a lot of fun running around. I like that the big dogs are separate from the little dogs. I also liked that they have shady areas to sit while the dogs play. The only thing I didn't like is there is more dirt than grass so Skippy needed to be cleaned before getting back in the car. We'll be back! read more

Took my puppy for her first time outdoors. Park was clean and loved that small dogs have separate section from bigger dogs. She had a great time and was exhausted afterwards. The trails are nice and bouncy instead of traditional asphalt most parks feature. Will be back again. read more

This is my favorite dog park in miami. It's less crowded than some of the others, it's cleaner, and more spacious. Great for big or small dogs (there are separate parks). Ignore the comments about aggressive dogs--that's not an issue with THIS park, that's a miami problem. I think Tropical Park is much worse for aggressive dogs with irresponsible owners. And I saw a bad bite incident at the Virginia St. Dog park. Most dogs in this park are friendly breeds, with responsible owners. There are sometimes bad dogs and bad owners at ALL dog parks--it's a risk anywhere, unfortunately. It's a beautiful park - you'll enjoy it as much as your dog. read more

Ive taken my pugs and shih tzus here numerous times. They section off the area big dogs on one side small dogs on the other. Ive have noticed that the large dog section tends to be a little aggressive but that says alot about South Florida in general. Its located right on the bay so when its really nice out, its beautiful. This doggie park has been transformed into something nicer, I remember being there a couple of years ago and it was horrible... bad odor. But I have recently passed by and can gladly say that the odor (poop odor) problem has gone! They even have a mulch/cork trail in the park which feels very nice as you walk on the trail. It's like cork, the only set back is that the cork seems to heat itself from the sun and might be too warm for our furry friends to walk on the trail, but the other option is to walk on grass. I love coming here with my dog! Third time now! There's two areas, one for dogs over 25 lbs and another area right next door for dogs under 25 lbs. They have a fountain for dogs. Sunny and shady areas inside. Cool obstacles for the bigger dogs. Everytime I've come here, there has always been at LEAST two dogs in each area. Which is perfect if you're seeking interaction with other dogs. It's right next to the water too, so you get a steady breeze the entire time. Such a great addition to Coconut Grove! read more

I love the park, take a few blankets and lay out with the dogs and just relax. The dog park itself isn't my favorite... they do have the big dog and small dog section. I'm usually in the big dog section despite having a standard and a mini schnauzer ( my friends all have big dogs which mine love) I do enjoy that all the dogs and dog owners I have met are very friendly and social. The dog park barely has any trees though so very little shade. And the grass seems to have died so very very dusty. read more

My golden retriever was viciously attacked today by a boxer, then a pit bull and mutt joined in. It was terrifying, and if not for my husband tackling the attacker, I think my poor dog would have been severely injured. The owners really didnt even check to see if we were okay. I will never go back. Be very careful. If you see a boxer, stay out. read more

OMG. Scary situation. Adorable to watch social interactions of dogs until they get jealous. Vicious jealous dogs. One owner announced "the boss is here". His aggressive dog lived up to reputation and owner seemed proud. Acknowledged she's had problems there in past but didn't do anything. After two aggressive interactions we left...just in time before a yelping, barking, mob dog fight occurred. Maybe during week is better, maybe this is dog park behavior but not worth it. I understand dogs and kids get into aggressive behavior in parks but owners not apologizing or taking responsibility is the problem. I was warned by other reviewers but didn't believe.
