This iconic Coconut Grove park was named in honor of David Thomas Kennedy (April 7, 1934 - September 4, 2014). Kennedy was an attorney and politician who served as the Mayor of Miami from 1970 until 1973. Kennedy is credited with drafting the plans for the creation of Miami's Bicentennial Park which opened in 1976. David T. Kennedy Park is 20 acres and sits on the coastal mangrove shore of Biscayne Bay where there is access for kayaking and paddleboarding. Benches are set up so you can catch the sunrise and sunset and bay breeze. Park amenities include a dog park, open lawn, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic table, playground, and volleyball court. The expansive lawns, tree-lined walking paths, and a range of recreational facilities make this park a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Also in the park is A.C.'s Icees frozen lemonade truck selling refreshing treats near the parking lot. This frosted lemonade stand has been a park land mark since 1978. I miss coming to this park as I used to live within walking distance. It is difficult to find a spot but worth it. The park is very large with extensive lawn space. There are several areas with machinery to exercise. The park as a dog park segregated for large and small dogs. The walking path is beautiful with a lot of greenery and fresh air. You can see the water from part of the walking path. The trail is very nice and the park is well maintained. You feel very safe there and people are friendly. I brought my daughter and she enjoyed being surrounded by nature in this beautiful park. read more

I came here with my friend and her pup a few days ago and loved how relaxing and breezy this park was. With the infamous trees of Coconut Groves, you get covered from the sunny rays striking at you. A nice walkway/ bike track to walk around and get those steps in and a picture perfect waterfront view. Although i had been to this park before, I had never been to the dog park within it -- I was so happy with my experience and to see how well maintained it is! What's cool about this park is that it is built like a track with markers to know how far you've ran. There is also a nice view of the boats. This is a nice little park along the bay. It's not super big, but it's really pretty to walk along the boardwalk on the bay. We were there for sunset and it was a good place to see it. Love this park! Right next to the ocean and also has dog park (two side, one for small and the other half for bigger dogs). It's nice to go for a picnic, bike ride, or simply a stroll. They also have a volley ball net. There have ACs frozen lemonade truck in the very entrance so perfect to grab as you enjoy day at the park. The Only downside to this park is that there is barely ever any parking. I've been here multiple times and it's always been an hassle. Other than that, this is a must visit park! read more

Very nice park with a walking/running 5-mile trail, an outdoor gym, restrooms, a view of the water from a mini pier, and a dog park. Well maintained dog park with a couple of tunnels/ramps/activities for dogs. When we went during the day on a Friday there were no other dogs, but we are looking forward to visiting again some other day. read more

This little park is a great place to relax, I love coming here after (or during) a tough week to unwind. There are beautiful views of the bay, a nice track, and even a dog park. You can bring them to the dog park - they have spaces for both small and large dogs! Want to stare at the water while enjoying a picnic? This is the perfect spot for that too. There really is so much to love about this Park. It's well maintained, always full of people, and also the home to ACEE's Lemonade. IYKYK about that frozen goodness - it's Miami realness for sure. This review is almost right after the Hurricane so maybe some of these pointers can let the City of Miami know what needs to be addressed. The four of us (Luna, my date, her little one and myself) stopped by for an afternoon in the park and most of the park has been restored. AC's Icees truck - which has been at this park since we first met in High school - was up and running. They have also put mulch walkways that made pushing Luna's stroller easier and took us right to the enclosed play areas. We noticed the fence for the 25 lb and under (yorkies and such) play area had been knocked down and still had some tree debris. We also didn't see any play and agility equipment in this area. Since there was another family with smallish (poodle and shitzu) in the area of the big dogs, we went in and sat by them. I know how dogs play and try to establish dominance, but like with human kids you need to establish ground rules and discipline. The owners of a German Shepherd, American Bulldog and chocolate Lab sat on the opposite end and didn't pay attention to their dogs until I had to holler out. While the choco was generally friendly, the shepherd was lunging and generally harassing Luna,the other small pups and a Catahoula pyppy. That being said, my fur kid enjoy the tunnel as well as the stairs course. Here's looking forward to them fixing the small dog play area as well as repairing the play equipment. read more

Kennedy Park is a place I've rediscovered now that I have a pup. The dog park is among one of my favorites that I've found (always accepting dog park recommendations!), not only because of the agility obstacles and the divisions between big and small dogs, but also because of the friendly people that frequent it. As a runner, I would often jog by while marathon training. The path that circles the park is rubber, which is great for those with sensitive joints. Besides that, you'll always see people playing volleyball and other sports, as well as families or friends simply hanging out. One of my fondest memories from this park was back in college having a picnic waterside. You get a nice view of the Rickenbacker over to Key Biscayne! Yes, parking can be hard to come by, but I guess I must come on off times because I've always been able to find a spot within a few minutes. I will say the spots are pretty tight, so I'm often having to squeeze between my door and the car next to me, which is super inconvenient while trying to also get my dog in the car... This could be improved! These days, a pretty awesome day for me is an hour at the dog park with my pup, followed by a strawberry lemonade combo from A.C. Icee's. Heavenly! read more

I love this park. My husband and I come here for the frozen lemonade. Bring cash because A.C's only accepts cash and it's definitely a treat you don't want to miss out while walking around the park. There are small workout stations throughout the or that you can use, plenty of space for joggers and the best part is.... there's a dog park! We love bringing our four legged babies here so they can have some fun. After they play in the park we usually walk them around a few more times and they are exhausted for the day. Even in the hot summer this park is not excruciating hot because you are right next to the ocean which brings in a nice breeze for the most part. Definitely a favorite. read more

Such a beautiful park right by the water in Coconut Grove. I used to come here for some Mommy and Me Fitness classes. There is a lot of space and fitness equipments throughout the park. You can find free parking there but there are not a lot of spots. Moreover, there's a small playground for the kiddos. I heard from others that they offer free yoga classes on Sunday but you'd have to verify it they still do that on their Facebook page. There are other seasonal happenings taking place such as a menorah lighting. Highly recommend this park for work outs or family-friendly outings. read more

Great spot for dogs. Overall a large area to walk. If you walk the recycled tires path its roughly 1.5 miles. They have a gated dog park in the back split by dog weight for safety. The park grounds were well kept, and no homeless in sight. Overall very clean, very family oriented. They had some sand volleyball courts here, along with a view of the mangroves and partial marina. Parking was really limited and they DO ticket if you don't park inside the designated parking area so be aware of that. There is usually the standard ice cream or drinks food truck here and again overall a really safe and stellar spot for your dogs if you live in the area. read more

I come here maybe 3-4x a week. Usually the same locals with their pets in the dog park. Friendly people, great view. Usually busy with people working out, people having small parties, and people just going to a have small jam session on their guitar or to lounge and read a book. It's always clean, no one hesitates to pick up their dog poop. 2 designated dog areas for large and small pets. I wish the water fountain worked a little better though. Best park of this park hands down is 'AC's Icees'. All flavors are phenomenal, but the original lemonade is untouchable. It's perfect on any Miami hot and humid day. Cash only. Friendly staff. Basically any "food truck" that has been able to stay stationary in one spot for over 20 years definitely knows what they're doing. It's a must try if ever in the area. read more

Great park that's right along the waterfront, with some wooden decks and walkways that will take you out over the water and are great to check out the area or watch the sunset from. This park has lots of pathways that are covered in what appears to be compressed mulch, but feels more like walking on a rubberized surface. There are a few areas where things like a sand pit with volleyball nets, exercise and workout equipment and swings and children's activities can be found; There are also 2 fenced in dog park areas with water fountains, obstacles and convenience bags, one for smaller dogs under 25 lbs and one for larger animals. Aside from that, there are lots of open spaces and fields for people to lay out a blanket and picnic, play soccer, football or other sports, or just sit and read, write, get work done or watch the world around them. IMO, this park is such a gem, and it's located not far from the center of Coconut Grove and just a few minutes' drive from downtown Miami. As others have mentioned, parking can be a challenge, especially on weekends; there are 2 paved lots with free parking, and lots of cars parked along Bayshore Drive where it's clearly marked "No Parking", but a few dozen people seem to park there anyway. They also have a "CitiBike" rental/return station here. read more

My favorite park!!! I can go everyday if I lived closer. It has everything you need to have a relax and active time. It has a running path which has different stops for you to do some exercises and they even have signs to tell you what you can do and for how long. It has a playground. It's a dog friendly park. It's great to take pictures and perfect for picnics. Keep walking and you can see the beautiful coconut grove bay. Right one the parking lot you can find the famous lemonade truck which is very well know for how fresh and good are the lemonades. Es mi parque favorito!!! The park system in Miami is great, but this park takes the cake! Its clean!! It has a walkway around it that is made from rubber which is great on joints when you are running. They have volleyball courts(3 of them), outdoor gym(with two of every equipment), and plenty of green open space. The best part to me it that it is right next to the ocean. You might know this park as the place where AC's Icees posts up slinging out thirst-quenching-frozen-lemonades. I mean, he's been there since I was like 2 years old. My pops used to bring me every couple of weeks to get our refreshment on....good memories. Recently returned back to the park after years of simply passing it by on Bayshore Drive. We had a park yoga session sandwiched between AC - and a soccer camp for kids. It's safe to say this place is PACKED with children on the weekdays. Seems this time of the year it's mainly soccer. Games going on on the adjacent field - training/classes for the smaller kids going on on the AC area of the park. Parking can be a nightmare at this time. They have the one small strip of of parking next to AC and then an awkwardly laid out lot behind the fields....there's only one way to come in (and it's the same way to come out...with only one lane). This is LITERALLY a head on collision waiting to happen. Do you have any idea how hard it is to time it so you can turn in from Bayshore (heading South)? Whenever you have an opening, GOD FORBID there's someone exiting...you are stuck. The parking gets better after 6pm, but that means the suns going down...and I'm not a fan of parks at night. It's great for the kids, they have a nice walking trail/sidewalk, and of course AC is there...but seeing I don't have kids - and I never crave ab AC Iccee (It's more nostalgia than anything)....I won't be rushing back. read more

They have 2 dog sections separated by dog size for the furry friends to run around leash free, with doggy water fountains included. They have an outdoor fitness area to workout. Kennedy Park is one of those parks you've driven by a million times. And I hope it's also a park you've checked out at least once. Small but popular this park has a large dog park within the park. Kennedy is on Tigertail and just North of the central Grove. It is on the bay and offers a great view. You'll find a lot of people jogging and of course plenty of dogs. The proximity of this park to the Grove make it a great place to have an impromptu picnic. Maybe pick up some sandwiches and then bike over, if not then there is always AC Icees. read more

This is one of the nicer parks in miami. It is really small but it's got just about everyrhing you could want... and probably things you didn't even know you wanted. I've been here a handful of times, always for the dog park. There are always people working out here and that is probably because the park has a rubber running track, pull up bars (where else are you gonna find these?), and all sorts of primitive exercise contraptions. It is very clean and feels like there is a trash container just about every 50 meters. I didn't notice very many benches or picnic tables, but they are there. It makes for a good spot for a workout, dog hangout, or a brisk scenic walk (millionareville) - may not be the best place for a family picnic though. Make sure you stop by A.C.'s Icees (the food truck in the parking lot) and grab yourself one of dem der delicious icees! read more

One of my favorite spots to spend a Saturday afternoon! (Okay... maybe not in the middle of summer, but any other time YES). All I need is a blanket, a book and a shady tree. Kennedy Park is a beautiful park in Coconut Grove. Located on South Bayshore it's right on the water. The park itself is very clean. Most of the people here are working out, walking their dog, or relaxing with their family. There is a walking trail that connects both halves of the park and a little bridge where you can see marine-life in the water. Lots of trees for shade, and a dog park with separate sides for large dogs and small dogs, this park is both pet-friendly and family-friendly. What makes Kennedy Park so special is that there is something for everyone. Besides the dog park, they also have exercise equipment throughout the park, beach volleyball courts, and open space for you to set up a blanket or throw a ball. Want to spend more than half the day here? You can pick up food for a picnic from The Fresh Market right down the street, or grab a frozen lemonade from A.C.'s Icees right in the park. Great vibes, amazing location, five stars in my book. P.S. There is free parking in 2 different small lots, however, sometimes it fills up on the weekends. When I come here on a Saturday, I always like to ride my bike to avoid all the extra stress of parking. read more

I'm on a quest for the best dog park in Miami. It took me 2 attempts to visit. It has a small parking lot out front however I had no problem finding a parking spot both days. Sadly my pug doesn't do well with the Miami Heat once it gets over 80, so she couldn't make it to the actual dog park. This is why I gave the park 4 stars instead of 5. To get to the dog park you have to do a bit of walking which makes it hard for short snout fur babies. However I went back a second day with out her. Explored the entire park. What a beautiful place. The view from the dog park is the water. There's workout stations for humans. The big and small dog parks are huge compared to the parks I've visited so far, and most importantly very safe. All kinds of fun activities for the doggies. There's picnic tables all over the park, and benches to just relax and look at the water. If my brat wasn't a pug this would definitely be our favorite park. Oh and there's a cute little truck out on the parking lot to buy some icees. Great trails for a run or walk. read more

While working on my documenting project of bike and running trails in Miami, I spent a good deal of Thursday morning getting some video footage for documentary. It brought me back to times past when I first moved to Miami and lived in the Grove. This was my go to place for my morning runs, and to be able to see the sun rise over the bay is simply unmatchable, and would totally highlight that moving to Miami was the best thing I have done in the past decade. This park is a jewel, with a newly resurfaced path for bikes, walkers and runners, the softer surface is kinder on my aging knees, and it is nice to pedal around it and enjoy the views. Dog lovers - double bonus: a dog park in here to come and chill out with the pooch. Usually parking is ok, there might be a bit of challenge on the weekends, which is easily resolved by not driving there but rather riding your bike, which you should be doing anyway. read more
