The reviews are definitely correct about prescription refills! If you have your Pet's meds filled anywhere other than here, at Kennesaw Mountain Vet sadly you're Pet's will suffer. I always purchased apoquel (allergy medicine) directly from my Vets office until I researched Costco. The savings was around $65 so my husband and I never thought it would be an issue. We switched, I was promptly told the script would cost $8 and of course we were at they're mercy but paid it without hesitation. Today I called and asked if the script could be called into Costco and I would take care of the cost over the phone since I work. Later my husband (I've given my cell multiple times but I'm never contacted just my husband! He's working/traveling as a Chief Financial Officer in Baton Rouge, extremely busy, but this office continues to call him) called me to let me know that the veterinarian wouldn't fill the script until we brought Ginger in. With costs so high right now we are unfortunately not able to bring her in to discuss an allergy medication, that continues to work, and pay a high Vet bill that's not necessary. My husband and I are incredibly disappointed because our little Ginger is the one suffering. I would give zero stars if that were an option because just allowing a pet to suffer when a medication is working?!! Terrible! A Veterinarian takes an oath just as physicians do to put their patients/Pet's health first! This isn't putting them first! Also, when I originally taken Ginger in for a ear infection they never followed up with us to check on her. I even paid more money for MORE medication for her ear infection (without another appointment) that never helped her! Had I been told " we are gonna fill the script this time but before the next refill we need to schedule an appointment. Terrible customer service and the Pet's health certainly doesn't Come first! Just disappointed that our little girl didn't come first !!

Dr. Underwood is a truly one of a kind vet, and his staff reflects this attitude as well. During one of the scariest time periods in our dog's life, they have gone above and beyond with not only their care of him but also in letting us know they truly care. They have celebrated the small victories with us, and Dr. Underwood has gone so far as to give us his personal cell in case of any concerns, questions, or emergencies. I could not feel more comfortable trusting them with my dog's health and well-being.

We have been going to Kennesaw Mountain Vet for a few years now. Dr. Kirk became more than a vet to us, he became a trusted friend. He would sit and talk to us and explain everything involving our pets, and eased a lot of our anxieties. We have 10 indoor animals - 8 cats and 2 dogs, and he has cared for most of them. All senior animals now. He even cared for our goats. Over the years we have spent thousands on our animals, just like most pet owners. Last year, our senior Labrador needed surgery for her knee and hip. Dr. Kirk performed the surgery and we were so happy that our lab was able to act like a puppy again for a little while. Unfortunately It's been only a year now and she's back to limping on that leg. About 6 months ago we took our other senior dog in to have a senior work up done. I felt like our small dog was acting like she was hurting, and I had noticed her hips had these swollen like bulges around them. I took her in to Kirk. He laughed it off and told us that they were love handles. Then a couple months ago, I had an emergency with her - she had a seizure in front of me and was not acting right. I took her in for an emergency appointment and Kirk was not there so we saw another vet, Dr. Edwards. Dr. Edwards told us that kias seizure was likely from pain overload....and he brought up the bulges on her hips (the ones Dr. Kirk dismissed) and said that she has very severe hip dysplasia in both legs, as well as arthritis and neuropathy. She was put on the pain medication of gabapentin. Which our Labrador is also on. Had Dr. Kirk ran the proper tests, or any tests at all at my last appt, he would of discovered these problems with our baby. Instead of them being laughed off as love handles. We had just recently lost our home business due to Covid, and we have a balance of $811 - after paying several hundred the day of emergency appointment. Because of our relationship with Kirk, he assured us that we could pay them back in a few months (which was to be in upcoming May and June) and that he knew we were good for it, as we have always been. Since we were having a difficult time financially, they allowed us to have our prescriptions moved to our Kroger pharmacy. As the gabapentin is only $3 a month at our pharmacy, as opposed to their pharmacy which is $22 a month for each dog. The law states we can fill our prescriptions at any pharmacy we choose, but of course, they were losing money in that deal. Then yesterday, to our absolute shock - we received a phone call from the office manager, Kiera, telling us that she was about to call in more refills to Kroger, but that Dr. Kirk stopped her and said he was no longer authorizing refills for us outside of their pharmacy. And, that he would not be giving the dogs more refills until he sees them in office and balance is paid in full. (So, knowing their pain levels, their severe hip dysplasia, their arthritis etc...and knowing the difficulty we have been having, he is withholding our dogs pain pill refills until May and June) - after some tears were shed, and some utter shock had passed, we wrote him an email questioning what was going on - he responded with a lengthy email telling us that our being upset over the last few mths (for missing our dogs hip dysplasia, and now for this refill situation) was exhausting to him. And that he wants us to find a new vet so that our dogs are no longer "suffering and in pain" under our care. - I am pregnant, and to be so insulted by someone that we really looked up to and trusted really devastated me. Not only was he blaming us for being exhausting, but now insulting us as pet owners? Our dogs are suffering under our care? I'm still so hurt and in such shock as I'm typing this out. Dr. Kirk and staff, we trusted you and considered you all family. We have referred numerous people to you. - When you stopped being a "small town vet" and started growing and allowing us to become a number, and forgetting the relationship we've built....you all failed and became just another vet. - Disheartening and disappointing, as we truly believe(d) you were the last of a dying breed of good and honest vets. Below in the images is the email we sent to Kirk, as well as the insulting email he sent back to us. I'm choosing to post the images so nothing is misconstrued in "translation" as he stated......instead of giving us the courtesy of a personal phone call.

Very accommodating and professional. Took me in as a new pt on short notice. Helped with transfer of info from my previous vet.
