I can say that this was the most thorough cleaning I have ever had and I also spent more time with Dr. Shook during my visit than I have ever experienced with my previous dentists. He was so thorough in my examination. I am SO impressed. The only negative is that you have to book general appointments 6+ months in advance. It was worth the wait. I highly recommend his practice.

I got an infection in my mouth after a crown install and he refused to give me antibiotics. Without even looking at me said he was certain I did not have infection and called into the pharm some stupid shit called "magic mouthwash" and actually told me to "go get a biopsie"!! WTF!!! I was on a soft diet for a month because of pain. THEN I complained about a sore jaw another visit, I asked if xray showed anything, he said " its a bite wing, wont show that". Well dumbass, move the xray towards the area hurting and take a film, DUHHHHHHHH. that didnt happen. The office staff are great, plus my hygenist Stephanie.AWESOME!!!!! Just hope you dont have to deal with Russell himself. Also I go every 4-6 months for cleaning and he raised the price $$$$$$ saying I was now periodontal maintenance. They have a beautiful fish tank in there that is very calming to look at. Then Alaina the dental assistant came out and took me to get a thorough and extensive x rays and photos of myself and my mouth. Alaina is very personable, knowledgeable and sweet. Alaina makes sure you feel comfortable through it all. . Then Rebecca did my cleaning, she was also very good, gentle and thorough. This was the first time meeting Dr. Kassidy Lewis and I loved her. Dr. Kassidy Lewis did the most extensive detailed post cleaning exam and explained and made sure I felt comfortable with the plan they are putting together for me!! I had a question after I was all done. and Alaina went to ask her my concern and Alaina came back and said Dr. Lewis wants to come back in if you could wait a few minutes. Dr. Lewis is really sweet. Then on the way out the front desk told me to help myself to some snacks or a beverage!! I highly recommend this state of the art dental practice.

Without telling personal information, they judged my very sensitive situation directly to me on a call. Rebecca, their billing person, was tone deaf, rude, judgmental and extremely uncaring and never have I felt more uncomfortable and disrespected than with what she said to me. I replied, "nice that you can pass such judgement- yet you don't have a clue," and immediately hung up on her. My bill with them was relatively small, but with all their bs fees and no clue what they did with insurance- it became rather expensive. They gave it to a collection company and are refusing to tell the collection company that they are not going to pursue the claim. They have the power and the choice to do-, so but because they feel some type of higher authority over me in their passing judgement of me, they are refusing to call off their hounds. This bill has a very real impact on my credit and can hurt my chances of securing a basic human need. Valley River Dental in Murphy NC has all the power and ability to make this less damaging to me, but they are refusing to do anything because in their judgmental minds, I could have/should have done .... xyz ... I told them enough of my situation and the many challenges and they still had the audacity to pass wickedly ugly and hurtful judgement. I would stay far away from this office.

let me start first by saying i am TERRIFIED going to the dentist!!!…read more dr putnam was nice enough, i liked that it's a family run office....kind of felt that dr putnam wasn't really the one in charge.... i came in with a toothache and figured getting it pulled would be the easiest..... first, they did the x-rays wrong....i never had wisdom teeth, and my mouth is small....i've always had to have them use the child size bite-wings because the adult size won't fit in my mouth....tried to tell them this, and they ignored me.....actually hurt my jaw trying to bite onto it.... after i kept expressing concern over the procedure of having my tooth pulled, numbing and making sure that we had a SAFE signal in case i was in pain.... with no explanation, dr putnam decided he wasn't going to continue.....NO EXPLANATION WHY..... i really didn't think i was out of line or being unreasonable regarding my fears....after all....IT'S MY MOUTH!!!!! i ended up going to a different dentist, dr newborn at worthy family dentistry in hiawassee where they took a panoramic x-ray (after looking at the original which DIDN'T SHOW THE WHOLE TOOTH) and they were patient and answered ALL my questions regarding my tooth.... turns out because it's a molar with really deep roots i have to go to a specialist anyway.....they were completely understanding my concerns and wondered why my questions went unanswered at dr putnams.... at least they only charged me for the x-ray.... i would not recommend them.....
