There are multi…read morelevels and the signage wasn't clear (to me anyway) I found a man with an employee uniform who was able to direct me and give me information about the ticket. He was very nice and helpful. My anxiety was eased! The station is large and bustling I didn't see a lot of seating. It was clean. The Main Street outside the station had lots of shops.

I'll say that this is a pretty good underground station, but it also seems to connect with the…read moremainlines as well, though I'm not all that sure whether I could consider Thameslink to be mainline. Well, it is run by a private company, but its lines are included on the map, and you can use the oyster card on its metropolitan routes, but as it turns out, you can pretty much do that with all of the trains so I guess that doesn't really count. Yeah, I didn't mind this station, but them like with most of them I'm only passing through many of them, and I suspect that if I actually lived in London I'd have a somewhat different perspective.

When they opened the spur line to Battersea, meaning that it has become an interchange between the…read moretwo branches of the Northern Line. Ok, it's a tube station. Yay…read more A very basic one at that. It has some slight historical interest, being part of one of the first "deep level" tube stations built and the only one to survive WW1 - there's a little plaque in the entrance and everything. Here's why it gets four stars. I live pretty much directly between Elephant & Castle and Kennington tube stations. When I first moved in back in March 2012, the estate agent told me that E&C was "much closer" to walk to and "more convenient" to get into Waterloo. She was a lovely lady but she's clearly mad. For starters, although the start of E&C tube is probably slightly closer than Kennington, once you get in there's mazes of corridors to contend with and, as I need to get to Waterloo, I have to traverse the dank, incredibly busy passageways to get to the Bakerloo line which adds on a valuable 5 or 6 minutes (and since I'm invariably running late for work those minutes really do count!). Kennington by contrast, is self-contained, with only one line (and at only one stop to Waterloo it's also a slightly quicker commute) and is very easy to navigate. I don't even mind taking the 79 steps down and up every day instead of waiting for the lifts... which unlike those at E&C, aren't in the habit of breaking down every third day. Also, the journey to Kennington tube itself from my flat is much less stressful, as it goes through a park and therefore avoids the busy Walworth road, screeching cars and busses and rams of people running to work. Finally, the staff at Kennington are, you know, pleasant. Probably because they get to work at a constantly moving but rarely horribly busy tube station with a sensible platform arrangement. Anyhow, I really like this tube station, and when I come home from work and go up the stairs to the outside I feel happy. I've thought about this too much, obvs.

Imperial Wharf is the newest station on the West London Line. Services commenced on Sunday 27…read moreSeptember 2009, and the station was officially opened by the London Mayor on 29 September. It serves a new development of flats, shops a hotel and offices called Imperial Wharf, built on the site of an old gas works, as well as the more established development at Chelsea Harbour, and older, established neighbourhoods around Sands End. There have been plans to build a station here for some 15 years, as the area has long had poor transport connections; the service now provides access to mainline connections at Clapham Junction, Willesden Junction and Watford Junction, as well as Underground services via West Brompton, Kensington Olympia and Shepherd's Bush. The station itself is built on an embankment, with access via a glass-encased staircase and lifts from a ticket office located in a tunnel under the tracks. The platform buildings comprise shelters under stylish 'wave' styled canopies, with more glass panels to provide protection from the biting winds that come along the Thames. (The exposed nature and lack of heated waiting room is, indeed, one of the station's main drawbacks, although it is possible to shelter in the ticket office area). The station is served by the half-hourly Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction service of London Overground, which is extended to Stratford in peak hours. It is also served by the hourly Milton Keynes - East Croydon Service, which is reduced to Watford Junction to Clapham Junction in the early morning and after the evening rush hour. The station is currently staffed for all trains, and the lifts provide level access throughout. There are uncovered cycle racks in the small square created on the Imperial Wharf (west) side. Bus connections include the 391 (Richmond-Sands End), 424 (Fulham-Putney Heath) and C3 (Clapham Junction-Earl's Court).

As it is an elevated station it has two lifts once each platform but the stairs most definitely quicker. Obviously if you need the lift then it is great. I can only go 3 star as it is after all just a station which does it a job. Lets hope it stays clean and tidy for some time to come.

Well, that probably should be surprising considering that Croydon is a pretty major metropolitan hub, so of course there is going to be a pretty large station here. Like a lot of stations, it's not bad at all, and reasonably easy to get around. Oh, and there are lots of shops there as well.

Anyway, this station does feel like it is in the heart of one of the suburban parts of London, though honestly, it is pretty closed to Camden Town.

A tube station might not be the most interesting thing to review, but there is a definite cult…read morestatus surrounding the London Underground and while many stations do feel soulless and devoid of character, others are a bit more interesting. If you're used to cramped platforms and packed escalators, Tufnell Park is a breath of fresh air: very small and very quiet (at least whenever I've been there), with some very nice Victorian architecture and fairly clean for a Tube station. Downsides are that it has lift-only access to platforms.

Well, I'm going to say that this station loses points for not having any toilets, which really…read moredisappointed me, that is until I realised that all you need to do is jump on one of the trains that stop here and use the toilet there (which I did). It does seem to be a rather quiet station, but that is probably because I ended up on it early in the morning.

The entrance to the station causes bottlenecks, and you often have to queue just to go in and out of the barriers. The ticket machines frequently go out of services, causing the queues to be longer at the remaining machines. It is also worth noting that the only access to the platforms is by the stairs and there is no disabled access. My tip when there are long queues are at the ticket machines is to check inside the station - the new single ticket machine inside often has no queue at all, and the queues for the counter often move much more quickly than those outside. You can also sometimes buy tickets from the staff at the gate - so it's worth asking as this can save you some time. Annoyingly you can't use pre-pay oyster at this station, but when it is introduced I expect that everyone's experience will be greatly improved. There are snack and drink vending machines on platform 1, plus a small cafe on platforms 2 and 3.

Okay, this is basically another one of the many underground stations in London. It's not all that…read morebad, and of course it means that you can get to another part of the city quite easily. In fact it was near where I was staying, which was good. Yeah, it's not that bad.

Stockwell station is well-situated on both the Victoria and the Northern lines (both branches of…read morethe latter). The station is well laid-out so that it's easy to cross to the other platforms. What I really love about this station though, and what makes me proud to live in Stockwell, is the atmosphere the staff have created in the station. From occasionally playing classical music over the speaker systems, to setting up a small book swap stall in the main concourse, the staff really have gone above and beyond to add a personal touch to the place.

Tottenham Court Road Tube Station is by far the most posh of the Tube stations that we travelled…read morethrough. The Station is busy with local people traveling to work and tourists coming to shop in the area. The pace is fast with north/south and east/west trains that travel to Heathrow. The walls are freshly covered in white tiles. The station is clean with a very long escalator up and down to the tubes. Escalators are available if you have a stroller or are carrying luggage. The walls are covered with show advertisements. Using credit card to tap on and off is easy. Monitors tell passengers the exact moment a train will arrive. We travelled through the station several times.

Tottenham is 15 minute walk to and from our hotel on Strand. We only used the train twice during…read moreour trip to London. From the airport and back. We took the Elizabeth Line to avoid making too many transfers even though there were other train stations nearby. We wanted to keep our trip simple and stress free. If you're are travelling here and taking the Elizabeth Line from the airport to the Strand area.... I recommend using a wheeled rolling suitcase. This is what we used and we packed light too so it was easy for us to roll our luggage along the many cobblestone sidewalks. Navigating Tottenham Court Road Station is easy. There are maps located throughout the station so you know where you are and where you're going and which stops to get off and on at. Make sure to have your credit/debit card on hand to swipe through and make the swipe your card again once you get off the train so you don't keep getting charged after you've completed your trip.
