Needed a tow for my 25ft motor coach and after speaking to two insurance agents from Geico, who told me they called everyone in the area and in neighboring cities, I was told no one was willing to get me and they could call California Highway Patrol dispatch and CHP could arrange a tow for me, but I would have to pay out of pocket. 4.5 hours after initially speaking to the first Geico insurance agent Kens towing came promptly after CHP dispatched them. I inquired about what may have happened and my tow driver said they do work with Geico and to call right away so I would not have to pay out of pocket. My tow guys were professional and efficient and I really appreciated the advise. I don't know how tow companies work on the payroll end but I have had a pleasant experience because they made me feel as though the company has a lot of integrity and are trustworthy and honest! Completely dishonest company who preys on stranded motorists by using deceptive scare tactics and false claims My car was overheating about 20 miles outside of Baker and roadside service sent out Ken's towing. A guy named David showed up and in less than 30 seconds, I had already caught him in his first of many lies. He tried to manipulate, cheat and lie his way to convince me to pay $550 for a tow, even though I insisted that the vehicle just needed coolant which he didn't have. When I called roadside assistance, I specifically asked them to have the driver bring coolant, a message that David claimed to never receive. In less than 2 minutes, in the dark, David was able to diagnose my vehicles as having a blown head gasket, and explained that I had no other alternative than to tow it. He gave me a list of completely bogus reasons why he knew the head gasket was blown. He must have just assumed that I was some dumb motorist with no basic knowledge of cars who he could easily take advantage of. He clearly didn't realize that I have worked at a car dealership for the past 12 years. I persisted that I believed the vehicle just needed coolant and and he continued to come up with false arguments for his cause. He lied repeatedly and used manipulation, threats, guilt and scare tactics to try to get me to agree to let him tow. At first, he wouldn't even tell me a price to be towed. I had to ask him three separate times before he actually asked me how much I was willing to pay? Don't most tow companies either have a flat rate or charge by the mile? Finally he blurted out $550. I told him politely that I was not going to pay 550 for him to tow me and that I was going to call people in Vegas and that his services were no longer needed. When he finally realized that I wasn't going to submit to his misleading tactics, he suddenly remembered that he had water on his truck that we could fill the radiator with. Amazing that this hadn't been an option for the last 30 minutes. He agreed to fill me up with water for the price of $110, and he told me that "when you break down again, I'm not going to come save you". After I left David, I drove 460 miles straight at 70 mph with my a/c on full blast and I never had another problem the rest of the way. In fact, the temperature gauge didn't get past the halfway point the entire rest of my trip. Not too shabby for having a blown head gasket. I assume that most people he encounters just fall for his scam and his dishonesty, but I wasn't about to. It got to be so bad that even my wife realized what he was trying to do and started video and audio recording him. I will be filing complaints with the roadside service company that I called as well as the state and the better business bureau. I believe that all businesses need to make money and they need to be paid for their services, but I don't believe that any business should ever take advantage of stranded motorists by deceiving them with false claims in an attempt to trick them into gouging for services that they don't need. After waiting for a different tow company for over an hour decided to try Kens. We got stranded an hour away from Vegas. Was told they would be there to help us in 20-30mins and it would be $500. An hour and a half later they get us and take us to the auto mechanic. Now when it's time for payment they tell us $570!! Where did that extra $70 come from. We call the girl Vanessa that was helping us on the phone and then she says "no I said $570" Not blaming the driver but Vanessa needs to get her quotes correct. I had a horrible experience at Ken's Towing and would give 0 stars if I could. This must be the most fraudulent towing co I have come across. The towed my customers car and impounded it.... They made sure to make it as difficult as they can to release the vehicle.. This is the game that towing yards play... Make it as difficult and expensive as possible so you don't and cant afford to take out the car, and they can keep charging you and put a lien on the vehicle as soon as it arrives. First they take credit cards, then when you show up, they only accept cash... The inexperienced girl on the phone sounded 15 years old, and had no idea what she was doing or talking about. Male sure you avoid this company... I'm already contacting the DMV, CITY AND STATE TO PULL THERE PERMITS AND LICENSES. This company should not be in business. read more

This place was the worst!! The ladies are rude, disrespectful and couldnt care a less!!! My son had an accident today (18 Yes old) I was obviously pre occupied with the crisis I was experiencing!! Tow driver never told us where the car was going or offered us any information as to where my car could be towed to..Just took it..I called them about 15 min..later and a lady answers and was SUCH A RUDE PERSON!!! I asked where my car was she explained it was on her truck and being taking off the truck in the row yard!! I explained the driver never explained what our options were and I asked if the car could be brought to my house..she stated that they have to charge us an additional 150 dollars for transport to bring it back to my house..I was already being charged for the row from the accident to the yard and a winch charge (270.00) cash only..I appealed to her and asked to have the additional 150 charge dropped as it wasn't explained at time of row..she told me that it was to bad and she doesn't do anything for free and hung the phone up on me!!! I called back and she wouldn't answer the phone!!! I went to the office and she was worse with me and I explained again what happened and she again stated that wasn't her problem and called me a liar as the other lady snickered and shook her head while I spoke.. I eventually paid the 270.00 and got another row company to come and take my car out of there!!! What a horrible place.. P.s. I called a few local row companies to assist me after this incident to get my car away from Ken's towing and all of them said these woman are the worst and knew exactly what I was talking about!!! Ken's Towing saved the day! RV lost it's serpentine belt and took out the upper radiator hose with it. Ken's Towing sent Juan to the rescue! Had a diesel break down on the way to state line. What I thought was a driver who didn't check his coolant turned out to be a busted coolant hose. Their driver was prepared and got the hose replaced and my driver back on the road. Prices are fair considering the location and cheaper then the place about 10 miles south that I called as well. I had a horrible experience at Ken's Towing and would give 0 stars if I could. I was on my way back to Los Angeles from Las Vegas when my steering wheel started to shake. I saw the Baker off ramp and decided to get off and see if I could find someone to rebalance my front wheels. I decided to get something to eat first and I asked several people who were working at the hamburger stand if they knew of a good garage. They recommended Ken's Towing right behind them so after eating, I walked out back and into the garage office. I asked the fellow there if they could balance my wheels. He said yes and made a phone call. Soon afterwards, another fellow arrived and asked if he could help me. I told him the problem and when I asked if he could do the balance, he told me yes. He then proceeded to pull off both front wheels and put them on the machine. He said that both wheels were out a little. He asked that we take a test drive so he put both wheels back on the car and off we went on an old road. We went up and back and he asked if that felt better. Truthfully, the road was old and rough and I really could not tell. In any event, I assumed he had done the balance and that the car would be fine. He told me the charge was $18.00 per wheel and it would be $36.00. I gave him $40.00, I told him to keep the change and he said thanks. He did not offer me a receipt for the work and stuck the $40.00 in his pocket. I then left and got back on the highway to drive home. I started to feel the shaking again and the car shook all the way home. Luckily, I made it home and the next morning when I took the front wheels off, I discovered that 1 wheel had 1 small weight and on the other wheel, I found no weights except for 2 small original weights. After putting 2 properly balanced wheels on the car, it drove as it should. This fellow at Ken's Towing (I don't know his name) clearly did not balance my wheels and thus put me in a position to have an accident on the way home. I called about a week later to complain to the owner but was told by "Pepe" that "Robbie" was the new owner. Pepe said he would talk to his boss and report this incident to him and that I would hear back. It has been 3 weeks and I have not heard back from anyone. Do not trust this shop to fix your car before you are about to begin a long drive. read more
