I always thought this store was a pawn shop because it was named "Ken's Trading Co.", that's just what I assumed. I went in here to look at pricing on guns and when we walked in the door they just kind of looked at us. I said "Oh wow, you have a big selection of guns", and with a smart remark he said "Well yeah we're primarily a gun store", and i said "Oh, I thought this was a pawn shop." And he said "No we just do that on the side." They seem like they didn't really want to help us. They younger guy showed us some guns and the older guy just stood there and stared at us with a nasty look on his face. It was very awkward and uncomfortable and unwelcoming and not really a place I would want to spend my money at. read more

The last time I went in, it seemed that my presence was an inconvenience, when I asked if they had any .32 ACP the younger one sighed and pointed. Ken rang it up, nothing for small talk, he mumbled under his breath while trying to run my card, it finally went through. He offered no thanks for the purchase, overall rude experience. Went in to buy a little ammo. You know it cost a little more here, but local business, so what. Support your local folks. Just was needing some 45 round for plinking around, nothing major. Asked Ken if he had any 45 rounds in bulk boxes. He dug around and come up with two boxes dropped them on the table in front of me and mumbled two numbers. Didn't know what it was he said, so I compared the two and picked the grain I was looking for and asked how much for these. Smart ass answer back was "I said X for this one and Y for this one. ".....Ok. do you have more? He hollered at his help asking if there was any more. Nope. Only one box of very popular 45 cal. target round in the whole "GUN" store. Ok I'll take it. He rings it up, base price a little more than what he said, but, that's ok. So all I have is 100 bill. I hand it over, and say I've got the change, I hand him the change to make his change back to me super simple. Cost $21.52. I gave him .52, then I said wait, I've got the dollar. It was like I had tried to make change with a millinial. Blew his mind. He's mumbling something, so I said, the change is $80. He's mumbling something else. I said that makes it an even 20 and the change is 80. He snatched up the box, threw the 100 back at me, and pushed the 1.52 across the counter. And said thank you for your business. Told me to leave. I was totally dumbfounded. Incredulous. I was trying to make it an easy round number change and he blew his cool. I HAD bought a good amount of stuff from him in the past, and spent quite a bit of money in his store. I had always considered him to be a condescending ass, but overlooked it, thinking that is just his way. But he really tinkled in my cornflakes this time. I got as much ammo as I needed from The Sports Center over on 41. .. He will not have to worry about me darkening his door anymore, and I will have an opinion for anybody else who asks about where we get guns and ammo. read more

After long deliberation and research regarding what type of gun I wanted to purchase, I should have been researching where I would purchase my gun. We are truly living in a unique time. I was totally disrespected the moment I walked through the door. I was wearing a personal respirator to protect myself from the current pandemic outbreak of COVID 19, because I'm in that high risk category. I was told on no uncertain terms that I couldn't be in the store with it on, so because I really wanted my gun, I removed the mask. There was only one other customer in the story and one young individual behind the counter. He was very rude in our initial exchange and continued to be rude the remainder of my short visit in the store. He asked me what I needed, I replied Mossberg 500 Sawed off rifle with a pistol grip. He pointed out the case. I looked for the gun from the pictures on the internet and saw the one I wanted. He asked me if I was familiar with the gun and I said yes because my familiarity was from my research. He told me it wasn't a Mossberg 500, so now I'm looking confused because it looks just like the ones from my research. He walks over and shows me a Mossberg 500 that has a long barrel and you have to convert the butt into a pistol grip. Already I know this isn't the gun for me because I don't want to work to make it what I want I just want what I want. So, I point to the style of gun I want and was told it was a Mossberg 590. So, I asked the price which was doubled what was quoted the previous day on the phone. So, before I spend that amount of money I wanted to talk to my daughter who's prior Security Forces for the USAF, because she knows her weapons and I respect her opinion. That's when the real craziness started. The younger man asked me who I was calling, in my mind that wasn't any of his business. So, I said I was just making sure this was worth my money. Then he told me he couldn't sell me the gun. I asked why and he said I was buying the gun for someone else, I was acting "shady" I know my faces just dropped because this man was questioning my integrity and he didn't even know me. So, then the older man asked me what I was wearing and I told him it was a respirator. He asked me then asked me who I was calling, again not his business so again I stated that I wanted to make sure such a purchase was what I wanted. He said that he was going to make the decision for me he wasn't selling me that gun or any gun. So, knowing that's his right, I said thank you and left the store. My daughter already has her permit and purchased her gun from this store hence my choosing it. So, I called her to see if they questioned her, if this was normal. I needed a comparison of my experience trying to do business with this organization. She said no, she told them what she wanted and they sold it to her. I am very frustrated by this experience and after reading the reviews I would not recommend this business to the following individuals; WOMEN, AFRICAN AMERICANS, anyone that has a QUESTION regarding a gun and wants to discuss it before the purchase. This is a private business, that sells and advertise to the public, why not just advertise to the demographics that you would prefer to sell your guns to? Don't be afraid to admit you are racist! The Constitution gives every American the right to bear arms, it should regulate more closely who sells them and their motivation to only arm certain people at their choosing. Ken's Trading is not the only place to purchase a gun, shop around and read YELP first!! read more

Depending on who you talk to you might walk away without much to remember, wouldn't count on it though. I talked to one guy who was nice enough but then some other older guy straight up swore at me out of nowhere when I asked him a question. I thought maybe he didn't work there and was irritated about the question but apparently he does and just didn't care. I seriously couldn't believe he'd talk to someone hes never met before like that, much less a customer, everyone in the store looked extremely uncomfortable including me so I just left. There's no way am I ever going back there again, that was ridiculous, I'm not paying anybody to verbally abuse me thanks. read more
