Last time I went my toddler opened the area for nursing located in the women's bathrooms, I apologized to the person who was there and I didn't get a smile or a response ( she wasn't pumping or breastfeeding just sitting) then to my surprised she was one of the lead singers! I get it we have bad days, serious days whatever but if you're up there representing I feel like you have to show some type of friendliness. I don't know just my opinion. No church but I think I'll just stick to my relationship with God.

I was going through a difficult time personally, and the message of the morning really touched a note for me, bringing me to tears. Two other congregants, complete strangers to me at the time, sat on either side of me, holding my hands and offering me silent support. It meant more than words can say. Now, I'm the mother of two small children who attend classes in the Lighthouse, home to the RE program. They both love their experience there. My preschool son begs me to go to church! Thanks to the thoughtful curriculum, he is already becoming aware of what it means to be UU and is also becoming well-versed in the world's religions. My husband and I have found the minister, Rev. James Kubal-Komoto to be an inspiring leader, a thought-provoking teacher, an excellent speaker, and he possesses a great sense of humor to boot. While the church building may not be as gorgeous as some of the surrounding UU churches, it's the people that really make Saltwater a beautiful church. We have befriended some amazing people here and our spirits have grown immensely since we've joined the Saltwater community.

Our outreach ministries are many! We care for our homebound and nursing and memory care facilities and distribute the Eucharist to them. I have had only a few experiences with churches, most left an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach, like it's all just put on, a show. Being a lesbian couple we did our research before trying to find a church that fits us. As we walked through the parking lot we were met with smiling faces, and open arms. We barely made it through the door before several people approached and introduced themselves. Guided us to the chapel and may I say...it's beautiful. A round room with floor to ceiling Windows set in a wooded area. The sermon was lovely. Easy to follow and made you think in terms of today. The congregation felt like a family. Very connected. I felt no judgement, no bias, no pre conceived notions...just love. It was amazing. We will be back.

I recieved lots of attention as a new face. I was given a name tag and shown to the cookies. The worship was great as I made myself at home on the 2nd row. The message was relevant.
