What a quaint little place. Not my cup of tea, but I can imagine it might appeal to some. It's got that old fashioned charm, but is kind of spoiled by the stained red velvet curtains and grubby looking fittings. I went to see an amateur dramatics production of Pirates of Penzance there (grandma pressie) which I didn't really enjoy, but apparently they now concentrate more on better quality stuff these days, and it's been refurbished too :) You might just like the charm of the place then - as I said not my cup of tea, but one to try if it sounds like yours. read more

We're lucky to have a place like this is town. It's something like the fourth oldest theatre in Britain and, since it's refurbishment, is churning out quality performances with big names. It only seats a couple of hundred people - so it's not huge - but, despite it's size, it punches well above it's weight. You get plenty of famous names appearing throughout the year and prices are generally reasonable. read more
