We've been to several races at Kentucky Speedway, but this was the worse one for secondhand smoke. Either people don't care or realize that it can cause or make worse a wide range of damaging health effects in children and adults, including lung cancer, respiratory infections and asthma. Honestly, it was so bad that I would seriously consider purchasing a Half Mask Respirator prior to visit this facility again. Also, bring a hat, sunglasses, trash bag, earplugs, and earmuffs. My wife wears earplugs that are a 36 decibels reduction and a set of shooting earmuffs. I would not just go with ear plugs, especially if you are going to be seating of trackside. Do your ears a favor and get a set of earmuffs and wear earplugs. By the way, the trash bag is to place any item that you're not wearing because people tend to knock over their beer when the stand up to cheer their favorite driver(s). In the end, your newly purchased NASCAR apparel can quickly become soaked in beer, soda, etc. read more

Great outdoor space for this big event, LightsFest 2018! Getting out of the parking lots afterwards will likely be a long exercise in patience but...... fun outdoor family friendly social event! Bring your lawn chair or blanket, a small cooler (no alcohol can be brought in but avail inside venue), many around us had brought kites to fly, lawn games, etc. A DJ played popular tunes before an artist from Seattle sang 4-5 songs that all sounded like the same song. Bonfire spots provided if arrive early enough to get seated near one. Packaged logs were given out too. Several food and drink vendors/food truck style. Releasing the paper lanterns and watching the breathtaking beauty of thousands of lanterns floating above lighting the sky was a memorable thing for sure. Many had campers and tents in a designated area and a 2 day option was available. VIP package was available too but not sure what that included. read more

We spent three days in a row here for UNOH 225, John R. Elliot Hero Campaign 300 & the Quaker State 400. We were fortunate enough to be there with Ford to drive the intro trucks for all three races. This speedway is massive and there is so, so much to do--even during the less popular races. It's like a giant festival/expo atmosphere outside the gates which is pretty cool. Plus parking is FREE. Yep---you heard me...FREE. Speaking of parking, the day of the big race (yeah, the NASCAR one) the organization and traffic was really well handled. Overflow parking has a great tunnel system that makes walking across to the racetrack easy and accessible. There are a lot of bathrooms so it's not hard to find a restroom when you need one with a limited line. My only complaint is the typical overpriced food and beverages (particularly alcohol) at the speedway. But you know...that's to be expected. read more

I finally went to my first Nascar race on Saturday and it was just as I expected. Loads of fun, loud, hot, wet and exciting. My biggest complaint about the Speedway is that when tailgating, there was only one restroom to be found. That was the building where the showers are so it was a long walk and a long line. Also, it was extremely hot in there and people were cranky. They should have port a pots sporatically around the parking lot. Maybe even charge for parking to cover the cost. The stadium is laid out well and it's easy to find your seats. Although, one idiot was cussing out a family for being in his seats in front of us, but when they looked at his tickets he was nine sections away from his seats. Once inside the stadium, there are plenty of restrooms and concessions to choose from. I will definitely go again. read more

I went there for my first NASCAR race! It was so exciting and great!! Only one thing made me uncomfortable was SMOKERS in non smoking area!! Lots of people were smoking even in the seating area. There are many children as well, I just don't understand it.. Also I saw police officers and troops so I was like please say something to those smoking people but it didn't happen... The facility needs to be more strict about smoking rules! Restrooms are ok. Everything else was good! read more

I don't have a lot to say about the KS other than my experience here was smooth and easy. It was easy to get in and out of. Lots of state police to guide you anywhere you need to go getting in and out of the venu. The staff was kind and friendly as well. Parking was not an issue and lots of fresh pavement and gravel where needed. Make sure to take ear protection if you are going to see a race here because it is very very loud!! Also make sure you enter the track in the right section or you may be waking further than you would like. read more

Some friends and I were recently at Kentucky Speedway for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. There were plenty of things to do before the race. We purchased a hospitality package with our tickets which I recommend doing. The package came with a free meal that included fantastic BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. It also included access to the garage and pit area prior to the race and a close view of driver introductions. It really took the experience to another level. There were a couple things the track could do to make the experience an even better one though. We camped in the Ponderosa camping area and while it is quite a far walk from the track, free busses were provided to get us to the track and back to the campsite following the race. Things were great at the the campsite but it was very challenging to get to when we first arrived and better signage would've helped a lot. There also seemed to be no real rules for where people could smoke or at least they were not enforced. This is obviously an annoyance and a hazard for non smokers. All in all though, it was a great weekend! read more

All Great Things should not HAVE to come to an end. My third year of visiting one of the greatest auto race tracks around. There is literally NOT a bad seat anywhere in this one and half mile oval track. The Indy Race was held here for what appears to be the last time on this past Sunday. Three years in a row some of the closest finishes in Indy car racing have taken place here. As for this year -- .0098 of a second separated first and second. Congratulations to Sarah Fisher Racing and Ed Carpenter on the win. This track got a bad rap because of all the problems with the getting in and out of the track during the Nascar Race. What does one expect when they have 40,000 parking spots and sell 120,000 tickets. I'm getting to my point of poor planning and marketing on the part of the organizers. The track is beautiful...we were in and parked in under ten minutes and out in the same amount of time. I have no complaints with the handling of traffic . The only complaint I have.....someone forgot to let people know there was a race... There could not have been 10,000 people there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Granted it is not the Indy 500 and all the hoopla of that event, but honestly it could have become one of the "other" great events if the marketers and organizers had a hint of how to get the word out. I give the race 5 stars....the track 5 stars ....but the organizers of what could have been a terrific race in a facility that warrants it....1 star. It's a shame because it is rumored there will not be an Indy car race here next year....too bad. Guess we will have to go to California to see the small oval track race....and that just shouldn't happen when we have this gorgeous place in our own backyard. read more

In a past life I was a cutoff flannel, mullet sporting, trucker hat wearing redneck with a souped up car. Just kidding, I never had a cutoff flannel.... or did I? Alright, seriously, I do occasionally love a good race or car show, etc, and KY Speedway helps fill that need. Through the years, I'd say that I've been to over 6 races here and each one has been fairly uneventful and stress free, save for the July Nascar race where an estimated 20K fans were stuck in mile long traffic jams. I have been to Daytona 500 (3x), Talladega, etc. and have never seen such a poorly organized race. I sat in traffic for over three hours after napping in my car post race until almost 1:30am. The 4am bedtime was not the way I wanted to end that day. Oh well. I still do not believe that the highway has the capacity to handle Nascar level traffic. So... if you are going to a race here, leave several hours earlier than necessary. You could also just tailgate and setup camp the night before. Okay, on to some better news. When the track is not hosting a race, there are opportunities to ride or even drive a pro racing "stock" car. I grabbed a groupon for a 5 lap ride along and finally used it last weekend. The information emailed to me didn't really have the pertinent details necessary, but a quick stop in the gift shop had me heading in the right direction. (Entrance 3) After a quick stop at the security gate, I was able to drive through a giant tunnel and drive to gate 35 where several dozen cars were parked. Being inside the massive (understatement) area was pretty cool. Once there, you get a ticket (they have a$30 upsale opp to ride in a car that goes 190mph!). I declined the offer as 150mph is fast enough for me. If you are doing the ridealong, all you need is a helmet, which they provide. Once your number is called, you hop into the car Duke of Hazzard style, and they strap you in for the ride of your life. Bring friends and family as there are bleachers. Your friends/family can take your picture too. Once your strapped in the driver takes off and quickly you are zipping around the track. It's amazing how the car sticks to the track at such high speeds, particularity in the corners. The whole time I was imagining what would happen if a tire blew and we'd slam into the wall. The laps are done before you know it and it was a cool experience. Anyone that thinks car racing isn't a sport should try to do what this driver next to me did, but for hours at a time with two dozen other cars on the track. Intense. read more

I can honestly say that I have never been to a nascar race track in my life. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit this place with a friend who got us some HOT passes for the pit for the Quaker 400 race. Oh My God! It was an interesting experience to say the least. First, this is the type of sporting event where you tailgate (similar to a big football game). Everyone gets there early, sits outside of their vehicles, and drinks/eats while socializing with race fan friends. Once you decide to take a spin into the track...wowza! I will start with the pit. Having HOT passes for the pit is basically like having caviar at the nicest restaurant in your town, nascar style. Ha! I learned and saw loads and felt like I was getting the royal treatment. The stands are pretty cool to check out too...it helps you see the entire track in one view. They have lots of different food choices here and the prices are as expected at a big amusement of this sort. BRING EARPLUGS. I am so glad I had a nice pair with me and would have suffered greatly without them. Especially in the pit area. read more

Boogity boogity boogity - let's go RACING! We were super excited to attend the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky, which was our 5th Nascar track. We parked in the designated area (hint hint you might want an SUV or truck if its muddy) and there were buses taking patrons up to the speedway. Once there, there was a ton of stuff to do outside the track from shopping to driver experiences to showering if you so desired. Once inside the track, you're limited on things but prices don't break the bank for drinks and snacks. Only issue we had is that there weren't stairs on the far ends of the seats. So you had to cross over everyone to get out if you were sitting on the top end. If there was an evacuation, those seats would be in trouble. There isn't a bad seat in the house Everyone is so friendly and welcoming you can definitely see why people enjoy coming to this Kentucky track! read more

This was the greatest place to take the kids during spring break! I took my kids on a short trip to the speedway and they loved it! Even though it was cold and windy outside everyone around us made it a great experience. Our tour guide took us all around the whole speedway and even took us on the track, which the kids absolutely loved. It was very inexpensive and the facilities are disability friendly. I would recommend this experience for all families! read more

This is my first NASCAR race and so far it has been an awesome experience. It has been hot but it is worth the wait to see the car race.

This place is GARBAGE! They treat their volunteers awful and then after the race they have all 3 roads only going out...so there is NO WAY TO GET TO OUR CAMP SITE. We have been sitting out on the main road for almost an hour now ( and that's after 30 minutes to get to the main road) and still can't get back to the camp site. This place is ran by some...by someone. Will NEVER VOLUNTEER HERE AGAIN. read more

No I am not connected in anyway to the business or employees, No I did not receive any compensation for this review. Thank God! As I would be humiliated beyond belief. It has been brought to my attention, That the families of firefighters who Lost their lives in the Line of Duty were to be recognized by a lap around the track on antique fire Apparatus yesterday only to have it Cancelled! It was cancelled by a text message from someone on staff. A TEXT message: really!!. The lap didn't have to be carried live. It could have been shown on tape during a yellow flag. How long does a lap really take. Especially since the families were already on the equipment ready to pull onto the track when the TEXT was received. Anybody think of the time and effort and money laid out by these families to make the trip. The volunteers that brought the equipment and the cost to get the equipment there. No one to the best of my knowledge ever spoke to any of the family members or volunteers to explain anything as the volunteers and equipment left within 15 minutes of cancellation. These people are members of the public safety family that protect us daily both here and abroad. To slap them in the face saying that you are out of time that they and their loved ones are not important enough and then having to explain to all the individuals at home why it didn't happen WOW I hope your Complaint department is working on what to do to try and fix this. Ky. Motor Speedway and Nascar will not get another dime from me until it is resolved if it ever is. And yes before you ask, I am a member of the Public Safety Family currently serving with over 38 years of service. Oh yes I will be sure to pass on this disservice to the thousands I know in the family. I have been to several nascar races in my lifetime, I went to KMS for the first time this saturday. Nice track, nice concessions easy to get into the track..... Heres the problem, when yea leave it is like a free for all. When yea come in they have people directing traffic. When yea leave only a few State troopers at the main interesections. the parking lots are a mad house I wished I would have just sat in the grass and watched it. But once I got in the mess I couldnt get out. read more
