Great food, service and atmosphere! The old lodge just keeps getting better with each passing year!

Came on a busy Saturday night and had to wait ~30 minutes to get seated inside or outside. It seems like the kitchen and servers are understaffed as everyone seemed rushed and was not in a good mood. I ordered the fried smelt special for $17 which was a TON of food! It also came with a basic side salad. The smelt was ready pretty quick, but our table was waiting for almost 45 minutes for my wife's BLT. I was a little surprised because a BLT doesn't take much time, but when it came out I understood why. The BLT was actually more of a calzone that I think they bake with the pizzas. Her BLT was super tasty, but it was a bummer it wasn't ready at the same time as the rest of the food. I saw the fish was left on the warmer until it was ready. After eating, we waited almost 20 minutes for our server to come pick up the check. We ended up running the check to the bar to close us out since we hadn't seen our server in a while as she was busy closing up outaide. Overall, I wouldn't come on the weekend if you're looking for a quick bite, but this place definitely has a cool vibe by the lake. The pizzas looked tasty too, so I'll have to try those next time. read more

Went for Mothers Day brunch first time coming here. We had reservations but the table they had for us was stools and my mother would not be comfortable there so we waited about 30 minutes for a table with chair backs. (Something to keep in mind when coming). They had a buffet going on and I tried everything! The waffle was to die for it had little sugar bits inside of it that really made it. The egg Benedict's was cooked to perfection. Hash browns delicious we had a great time and service was great. read more

Good food and a decent price, four page menu, sometimes there's specials, and a gorgeous view of Sage Lake. Come during the week because they are really busy on the weekend, and it's so worth it. Call ahead because sometimes they're hosting special events -- like the one I just attended. (Come during the weekend and there might be a wait because they're in demand.) read more

While the view and setting was beautiful, the service was poor and 4 out of 5 of our meals were terrible. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but everything on the ribeye plate was awful. The ribeye was actually a very thin, tough, rib steak, but they did get them medium rare as we ordered. The potatoes were cold and the broccoli cauliflower mixed frozen vegetables were literally burned on the outside and cold, or still frozen inside. ​The BLT was too much roll and very little bacon. We arrived when one other table was being served and we did not get our meal until 50 minutes after arriving. Wait staff seemed to spend a lot of time visiting with each other, rather than checking on diners. We love the atmosphere, but we won't go back. We went on a Wednesday for half off pizza. We were greeted upon arrival and sat with our friends. We asked about the days special which was pizza at half off (we read on Facebook if you buy a drink). The waitress said it had to be an alcohol drink. Totally unfair since I don't drink and my husband wasn't drinking and driving that evening. I stated that's not todays posting. She talked to someone and they said they would make an exception but had to be a pop, but buying a juice was not an option to purchase. We seemed to wait a long time before the pizza came out. The toppings were plenty but could not cut the crust with the butter knife we were provided. I know we will go back but just not running to do so. read more

Absolutely loved our stay at Kenyon's last weekend. The Resort is just beautiful and they've preserved the amazing historical heritage (check it out on YouTube). The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the rooms are beautifully decorated with a nostalgic feel, very clean and comfortable. The owners, Joe and MJ, and their staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. We felt like family! The food and drinks are wonderful. The live entertainment was excellent! We loved everything about Kenyon's and can't wait to return. read more

Stopped for lunch. Burger was great. Chicken sandwich was good too. Both served on grilled brioche with tater tots. The place looks good.

Stopped in during afternoon and sat in bar area downstairs- very friendly host and food was great! They were out of honey mustard and the host made some and it was DELICIOUS! read more

This place is fantastic! Right on the lake; great views. The food and the service is outstanding. We had the cheese curds and garlic bread as appetizers. Huge and delicious! This place is great! A very unique place! We spent the night in a room with an amazing lake view. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The food was extremely good. Chef Dave has put together a great menu with very good options. The weekend breakfast buffet was a must have! Very delicious! The owners are very friendly and are great hosts! this place may be old, but it's worth every moment spent we had the larger room with a porch on the outside to said if we chose outfront, there was a beach where you could either swim or lay out there was a playground if you had children and the food was exceptional and the staff was under believably remarkable can't wait to go again read more

Unfortunately I won't be back. I have been here twice since the new ownership took over this spring. Both times was in the area deer hunting this fall. First time (October 8th) everything was great. Drinks are reasonable, food might be pricey on the menu but reasonable once you see how much you get. Live music was also entertaining and was not overly loud. Things changed this past weekend. Again in the area to deer hunt and went to eat Saturday to get dinner and watch some of the MSU / UofM game. Place was busy. Tried a seat at the bar but couldn't see a TV so we moved to the only other open seats at the side "table / bar" area. Once we ordered a large group came in and we were asked to move as there was only two of us. We informed our server that moving was fine but we wanted to be able to see the TV and couldn't from the open bar seats. He then offered the table next to us as soon as the party that was there was finished (they were about to leave). We said that would be fine as soon as they go we will move. Our server then came back and said we would have to go sit at the bar because the large group needed the seats we were in. So we moved but obviously not happy since we just agreed to the offer of moving to the table. Now sitting at the bar the bar tender offered to cover a drink for the inconvenience of moving. We said thank you and in my opinion that was that. Our food then came out, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. My cheeseburger was missing the bacon. I let our server know and informed him that I did not need the bacon now and to just take it off the bill. He apologized and that was the end of that. Then the owner "Joe" came over and asked if everything was fine. I said yes and then as if he wanted to start a fight kept asking about the bacon and said he would "give me bacon" and then proceeded to inform us why we had to move, even though I did not ask about that. I thought it was strange and he was either just normally this rude or if he had been drinking. So after this I order another drink. The owner then come back again and again tries to start an argument. Complaining how the bartender offered us a round of drinks for moving (that was not asked for) This time he was successful in his efforts I informed him that I was very dissatisfied with my visit. From the rude way we were forced to move after agreeing to switch to a smaller table, to the burger being loaded with grease and tasting burnt like it was cooked on a dirty flat top to the owner coming up and giving me grief after I just wanted to be left alone to eat and watch some of the game. After we paid our bill and were leaving started saying things to us on the patio outside the door and even stepped toward me in a manner that I took as him wanting to fight. Thankfully someone he was hanging out with prevented him from getting too far. I sure hope this was a one time event from this owner as if he interacts with other this way I don't see this place staying open that long. read more

New owners did a hell of a job remodeling and are listening to all the people in the area with offering different menu items, breakfast items/times, buffets, live entertainment and more. Super friendly spot with good food. The place has a lot of history with the Purple Gang / Al Capone old hideout and has some lodging that pays tribute to it. Highly recommend giving this place a shot. Everyone in the area is stoked to finally have this place back in business and want to keep it going. Ignore the old 1 star reviews, this is the place to go if you're in the area and want a lakeside drink and food! read more

This was our first time there and what an awesome place! We met the new owners and they are just fantastic for taking on this historic place after years of it being closed. We ordered the pizza (no extra charges for toppings so load it up!) and the garlic breadsticks are to die for. The pizza was great to heat up the next day too! Did I mention they have beer-to-go?!
