My extended family drove from Virginia, and we rented almost the entire resort. Jill and Bill were always very helpful with our calls and questions before arriving and went above and beyond our expectations. They provided linens for some who traveled far. The cabins and lake house were all very clean and well stocked with microwave, coffee pots, and pots and pans. My brothers-in-law rode their Harley's around the entire lake and decided we had found the very best resort on the lake. The grounds were very clean and well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We recommend this resort and only wish we could find resorts like it closer to Virginia. One other note, one of my brothers-in-law is an Orkin man and has the habit of checking accommodations for critters, especially bed bugs. Songer's passed his inspection, and we all slept comfortably in clean beds.

The chalet is overlooking a beautiful lake and is surrounded by the most majestic view. It also has a nice place for a camp fire and also a BBQ grill so you can cook there plus a fully stocked kitchen with stove, microwave, plates, glasses, utensils, etc. and a dishwasher so no washing stuff by hand. It was nice to be able to not have to go out to eat we had everything we could have needed and more!! My parents stopped by to visit and my mom fell in love with the beautiful decorations throughout the chalet it had that personal touch to everything. They could not believe how amazing it was there we all agreed it wasn't just a cabin it was a home and a beautiful one! We have tried a bunch of other places nearby but they were so dirty and musty and that's being polite!! You won't find that at the Detweiler Chalets it's more like staying at a friends house or cabin it's beyond words!!! My husband and I can't wait to go back we were so sad to leave it really is a piece of heaven! I'm kinda high maintenance as my hubby would say I'm a five star hotel and room service kind of girl but I was so relaxed and content that I didn't have a care in the world while we were there!! This is a beautiful Victorian home and is decorated with that era in mind. We were on the third floor in a quaint room with a private bath and a balcony overlooking the common area. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had an electric fireplace for ambiance - such a nice touch. We were greeted by a very nice young man with enthusiasm and pleasantness. The morning gourmet breakfast was outstanding and served with fine china, gold tone flatware and linen napkins. This is a first-class bed and breakfast! Brenda, the owner, was extremely generous and let us just reschedule for the previous weekend, without charging us or anything. Very kind of her. The breakfast was delicious, it's a really cool old house, remodeled very nicely, and it's within easy walking distance of downtown and the lake. We plan to come back.

I have a stick shift and was in 1st gear going no more…read morethan 7 MPH and I was chased down by a staff member who said I was "flying" who then proceeded to tell me I'm banned from parking at the trailer we PAID for and I have to park up front and walk in now for the rest of our stay. Maybe they have had issues or something with people "speeding" before but I'm sorry I feel this is a bit extreme to be chased down like this.

They should fix that, even though sign are posted that they are slippery. The pool was great, warm, clean. Activities could be improved upon however. People do not read the paper or even remember to pick one up and nobody reads the whitewash board with printed activities listed on it. We lost our power twice throughout the whole campground for a few hours each time but all in all it gave everyone an opportunity to get out and about and gab with their neighbors. Playground equipment is need of minor repair but the kids liked it anyways. This park is for the older generation by far compared to their other parks. Clean, neat, quiet. We enjoyed our stay very much. They are working on this park to improve it like making pretty wooden benches to sit on, a volley ball court, and other things. It is a work in progress. I give this park four stars at this time.
