They were so accommodating and helped us over the phone to book sites. It was dark by the time we got there and we woke up to a surprisingly beautiful view! The water looked sooo clear. We weren't too far from the bathroom (they have showers + hot water)! We had water/electric connections as well and it was really affordable. There are many waterfalls that you can drive to nearby and hiking trails too. We ended up staying another night because we really enjoyed it!

This is one of the busiest SC state parks during summer months, and the premium villas, which come with boat storage, are in the prettiest of settings. Off on a ledge overlooking the lake and mountain across, the park has waterfalls that can only be accessed by boat. In summer you can barely get into the park, and the line to get in starts super early. I love coming in the winter. It's quiet, peaceful, and still packs a scenic punch. In an unexpected polar vortex, I still had great service, and the villa had everything needed to get in and get stuck for a few snowy days.

Turtleback Falls was always so much fun. Everything in this area is spectacular. It is a giant…read morefalls shaped like a turtle's back and you can slide off of it! The rock surface is so smooth and when you slide off the turtle's back you fall 10-15 feet into freezing cold water. There is a hole on turtle back that you can slide into and lean your head back to find an air pocket. You can also swim behind the waterfall and just chill. On the opposite side of the catch pool (natural), you find a giant rock that you can jump off of. I'd say it's roughly 15-20 feet so you may want to wear shoes to assuage the impact on your feet.

There are plenty of benches, swings, and picnic tables. The hubby walked a little further and said there was a little kiddie playground. Lovely place to take the family (or date) and have a picnic. Or just sit and enjoy the water. No swimming or fishi allowed. There were pet owners there with ghdi dogs. (Leashes required.) Also you can pick up something from Wendy's-there are steps behind that business that puts you right on the trail. (Not sure what other business are accessible.)

We did Rainbow Falls trail, Bearwallow trail, and the short story trail to the overlook. Altogether we hiked 6 1/2 miles. We saw lots of dogs and families with kids - eve though the hike says strenuous it's certainly doable with young children. Rainbow falls is stunning the trails are fun. There are a few creek crossings with stepping stones and several places where you can leave the main path and walk down to the river to explore. Visiting center was nice as well.

Great picnic or family spot too! My small kids had no problem making it through. There are multiple spots to access the trails and two playgrounds, bench swings, picnic tables, park benches all along the trail and restrooms. You can take the nature trail and enjoy the shaded hike. The only issue I had is that you can lose the trail near the edge of the park. If you hit the power lines, you've gone too far! Great place!

The bath houses are always clean, they have 2 different camp hosts, who are both very helpful and keep the campsites at a clean, topnotch level. There is a boat launch, 2 different playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickle ball, horseshoes, volleyball sand area, and kayak rentals with various sizes of life jackets available. They also have a sandy beach area and are dog friendly! There is a camp store and Snack Shack(but they haven't been open since we've been here, April/May). But we played giant checkers on the store porch. It has a wonderful view of the lake with nice rocking chairs to relax in. There are also picnic areas for day use for a small entry fee. Overall, it was a great place to stay with family and friends.

We did take a local jaunt out on a drier afternoon, but the next day we were leaving. This is a beautiful park with many spacious sites. We did enjoy our stay here, but wished we had better weather.
