I have celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease triggered by gluten. This restaurant has a dedicated gluten free menu but is not celiac safe. The waitstaff and kitchen are not knowledgable enough to keep customers with allergies or celiac disease safe. My experience at the restaurant: My waitress was hesitant with my order but said she would tell the kitchen it was gluten free so they could take precautions. Having a bad feeling, I went up to the manager who explained that the restaurant is "gluten free - ish" meaning they do not have a dedicated fryer (my waitress told me that they did) and that the gluten free panini I ordered would be heated up in the oven and wouldn't touch the panini press. The sandwich came out with the panini press lines on it so it obviously wasn't safe. After speaking with the manager, I didn't feel comfortable eating any of my food. I just paid for the food and let my friends who do not have celiac eat it. If your restaurant is going to have a dedicated gluten free menu, please at least make sure your kitchen staff has been trained to understand cross contact. read more

We placed our party of 4pm on the online waitlist on Sunday afternoon and arrived at 1pm. Parking was a little tough since that was during the Mueller Farmers Market. There was still about a 20-minute wait. We got sat in a booth and ordered within a few minutes. We waited about 20-30 minutes, then the manager came to our table and apologized for the wait, even though we had not even know we were waiting that long. My family's breakfast orders came before my dinner order of salmon came out. The food was delicious. The manager told us she had comped the whole meal since we had "waited so long", and even gave us a $20 dollar gift card to use at another visit. I guess karma was good to us that day, because we had not even complained about a single thing. Management and service at this branch is awesome! Parking is the pits. We came on a Mon (holiday) morning and it was packed. We had to park a few blocks away. It's in the middle of tons of apartment builds and homes. I don't know how anyone that doesn't live there can visit any of the businesses. Other than that, we loved it. After waiting 30-ish minutes we were seated and starving. I got a fancy cinnamon swirl latte that was delicious. The highlight was our "appetizer which was a pancake flight. The flavor of the week was lemon poppy seed and that was over the top amazing. I got a baked potato omelette and my friend got a peach avocado pannini. It was a special of the week. Mine was much better...stick with the tried and true. Our servers were very attentive and we didn't have to wait long for anything. They have several locations so perhaps parking isn't an issue at the other locations. I went on a Sunday and it was packed! Make sure to go early to put your name down. There's a farmers market on Sundays so it's nice to walk around while I was waiting. Once we got seated, we put it our order for food and drinks. Since it was so crowded, it did take a bit of time to get our food - 20 mins or so. What was surprising was our drinks came wayyyy after our food and we had to ask about the drinks. We ordered 3 drinks and only 2 came out and we had to wait an extra 10 minutes for the last drink. I got the kimchi beef and it was delicious! It had a nice kick and was refreshing with the kimchi. We got the current flavors for stacks the Gingerbread pancakes, which had a nice glaze and a gingerbread cookie taste, but were very dry and had to keep reapplying syrup. We also ordered the Migas plate, which was pretty good in contrast and comes with black beans and rice. We were asked if we wanted the Bloody Mary spicy, but I think the only spice it had was on the rim. They offer a classic Austin hot sauce, Yellow Bird for spicing up your items. We got seated pretty fast at around 10am on a Thursday and our server was very attentive and accurate. It took a long time for our coffees and bloody Mary's to come out, but it didn't seem to be the waiters fault he was waiting on the kitchen. The bathrooms were clean and looked nice. read more

I am completely baffled by the service here. Last weekend, just the two of us came in, ordered 4 carafes, and the crew was so attentive they even asked us if we wanted another one after that. This weekend was a completely different story and a total ordeal. We only got 3 carafes this time before we were abruptly cut off and told we could not order another one. To make it even worse, another friend showed up to join us and tried to order a carafe for himself, but the waitress refused to let him, claiming it was "company policy." How do you go from offering two people a 5th carafe one weekend to refusing to serve a newly arrived guest a single drink the next? If this is an actual policy, your staff needs to enforce it consistently. Arbitrarily changing the rules from one week to the next and ruining a guest's night is incredibly unprofessional. Been to kerbey several times but this most recent visit cemented it as five stars. The wait was long because it was Mother's Day and farmers market, but we utilized the waitlist, and it wasn't bad all things considered. So many great options for all diets, prices are reasonable, portions are great. The salmon was tasty, fresh, and basil mash potatoes are a family fave. The pancakes and breakfast options were so yummy too, and always amazing vegan options (pancakes, chocolate cakes, tacos, etc. Atmosphere is always such a highlight for me, and the waitstaff to a great job. Swung by Mueller's Fall Fest and decided to return to Kerbey Lane for their Crispy Chicken Benedict with a side of fries. Definitely tasted as good as I remembered- the sauce wasn't too spicy and had a tiny bit of a kick. Only unfortunate thing was that I bit into some egg shells. It was incredibly busy from what I could see. There was a 25-30 min wait for 2 and we got seated at the bar. There was still glasses from the previously seated patrons. Definitely enjoyed the food, little disappointed about the egg shells but totally understandable. I enjoy Kerbey's breakfast option as well as their burger which are top notch. Because it was pretty quiet, service was quick and easy-going. What a great place for a brunch date, I got smiles. I wanted to grab a bite on Thanksgiving after participating in an early morning shift meal giveaway. So I was up early and working but pretty hungry. After my shift I drove around and could not find a place open. I figured Mueller would have an option, Kerbey Lane was the option. We came in and saw a great menu with options to make your mouth water. We made choices and the food came out quick, even on a holiday. There weren't too many people waiting when we arrived, we were sat immediately. Once we looked around we saw a lot of people, good thing we all had a place to go eat. came to kirby lane after the farmers market nearby - it's been a while since i last went. honestly, i wish i hadn't gone back. ordered an iced chai tea latte, and it was soooo watered down. like, imagine the end of a drink when all the ice has melted - but that was the first sip. the menu said "award-winning housemade chai," but idk what award they're talking about. got the texas benedict ($15.49), which was supposed to come with a breakfast side. i asked for candied bacon, but the waitress said it was extra. turns out, a lot of the "breakfast sides" are extra. menu wasn't clear about what's included vs. what costs more, which was frustrating. ended up going with broccoli as my side (lol). overall, didn't hit the marks at all. probably won't come back. read more

On this lovely Sunday morning, I got to explore a little bit more of Austin. Just right outside of Kerbey they had a farmers market going on & it was amazing. We originally had to get on the waitlist for Kerbey so we were able to kill time. You do have the option to sit inside or outside but the weather was amazing that day so we decided for the outside lunch. Our waiter was honestly the best. If not mistaken his name was Drew. Great energy, super helpful because I was unsure of what to get. For our food we started off with Queso & Chips. Standard nothing to crazy. Also jumped in for their Brussels sprouts, boy were they delicious. Now onto entree's, I started with the Green Chile Mac. It was paired with fried chicken strips cooked to perfection. The mac itself wasn't anything epic. It was more of a basic mac along with some green chile. Nothing horrible definitely expected more. I was indecisive so I ended up trying their chili with cornbread. Must admit, not a huge fan. Bland, just needed more seasonings. Cornbread was just typical. Moving forward the chicken fried chicken lacked seasonings too. It definitely had a good crunch to it. My friend who is vegetarian had a veggie taco, with a side of potatoes, and pancakes. I've loved Kerbey's food since I was a kid, so to have one in Mueller is exciting! The location is great. The location is clean and shiny new! And the food is as good as ever! If you never eaten at Kerbey, then you'll need to try their famous pancakes, Paris Texas platter, and Kerbey queso - not in that order. They also now have cashew queso, which is nice for all of us who have had to stop eating dairy. You can get that Kerbey style meaning they put guacamole and pico in it. Perfection. FYI, there is garage parking attached to their building for which they will validate. So there are better options than the street parking that you pay for. Since I'm on crutches, I was a little disappointed that there was no handicap parking out front, but I didn't know about the garage. There's probably some in there. The service was great. Got my food quickly and the server was so kind to bring it out to my car (because of the hip not working right now). I plan on being a regular. read more

My wife and I really liked this location. The food was excellent. So was the staff; we were greeted and seated immediately after entering. Roman, our server, was stellar; 100% professional and really wanting us to have a great experience. The restaurant which looks brand new has a large, modern kitchen. Everything is light, bright and comfortable. My only suggestion is that the toilets need be made flushable or the auto-flushing mechanism fixed; neither toilet room I tried had flusher buttons/levers. One of the best Kerbey Lane locations. With the caveat that parking can be frustrating. Street parking for a couple bucks is available right in front, which makes it one of the only locations with paid parking--but it's Mueller, so what can you do about that? If you haven't been to a Kerbey Lane before, they're basically the Austin take on a diner. Traditional diner food, along with some Texas flair like queso on top of your meals. The pancakes are always a solid pick but I got the crispy chicken Benedict today. And I have to say, I've never had them overcook or undercook an egg when you ask for it a specific way. Came in today and ordered the Migas. Menu says it has scrambled eggs in it, but my plate was literally only rice, beans and chips. There was MAYBE 1/4 of 1 egg. When I showed the waitress, she asked if I wanted to order an extra side of eggs... Why would I pay extra for something that should already on the plate. I'm not always sure what constitutes good service but I definitely didn't get it tonight @ Kerbey Lane - Mueller. So let me recount this evening's meal. It was 9-ish and I arrived a little late but I was none the less excited about having some of KL's wonderful classic queso & tasty chips. That is where my "good" meal plans after a long day at work ended. First, the restaurant was not crowded for a Monday night, so I'll blame short staffing on the length of time it took for the waitress to take my order. Second, the waitress (expressionless and going through the motions) asked what I wanted to order without offering me a menu, as if I had it memorized. Third, after my food arrived I had to ask my table mates for silverware and a napkin. And the final straw for me was my order, Migas. I have attached a picture of the egg dish I usually enjoy. Please note my emphasis on the EGG part of my entree. On my migas plate (1/3 rice, 1/3 black beans & 1/3 migas) I would guess I received less than 1 full egg mixed into the pile of tortilla chips. I know eggs are expensive but I do expect more eggs in my migas. I am a native Austinite and have been dining at Kerbey Lane for a great deal of my 52 years. But experiences like tonight will not keep me coming back. read more

Well, it's been a hot minute since we were last here, and not much has changed. This location is really terribly run. We met a couple friends and their kids here and were told a 45-minute wait, which, no problem, it's Sunday morning, we get it, and took the kids over to the playground area. At the 45-minute mark, one of us went to go check on the table and the hostess said, "It's ready, we're just cleaning it up." 10 minutes pass, we check again, and are told, "the party is just getting up now, and we're cleaning it off for you." Seriously??!?! GREAT start, y'all! We do have to say that our server was very sweet and on top of things. The kids' food came out first, which we appreciated, but now the maple syrup is served in these plastic ramekins, which immediately spilled everywhere when you opened them, so we asked for more but just the syrup dispenser, but that was when we discovered that the dispenser only has "regular syrup" and that the ramekins have maple syrup and they all cost more. Again: seriously??? This is what it's come to?? Segregating fake syrup and maple syrup and uncharging for the latter. What a JOKE. The only nice thing that we will say is that their pancake game is still strong. Our daughter loved her chocolate chip one and the GF one that the two adults shared is still incredible. The migas are still fine, but the chicken verde omellete was a sideshow. First of all, three eggs??? LOL. We'd be surprised if it was two. Second, there was basically just this massive scooped mound of shredded chicken with zero flavor under only ONE side of the omelette and then the whole thing was smothered with sauce--we think that they forgot the cheese. Anyway, this location is still a freaking mess. They really need to level up.
