Her style of asking questions was very rigid and it also seemed like she was uninterested in hearing what I needed to discuss. At the end of our first appointment, the therapist said that she had some ideas that might help me. Halfway through the second appointment, she stated that she didn't think this was a good fit and that she didn't want to waste "our" time. While I understand that finding a therapist who is a good fit for myself is important and therapists have certain niches, she was implying that me seeking mental health services was a waste of her time. I agree it wasn't a good fit but there are more respectful ways to bring that up with a client.

Throughout my life I have searched for a therapist who I could connect with and trust. That is down to earth and attentive. Understanding that sometimes our sessions will be super productive, through brainspotting and other methods to help with processing, and other times giving me a space to talk. It wasn't until my doula recommended that I see Leslie to work through my postpartum depression and anxiety that I truly found a therapist I connected with. She helped me adjust to motherhood, connect with my child and husband. Made me realize that I am a wonderful and worthy person. She goes above and beyond to connect with me between sessions to check in. Along with being there if I need an extra session or just a few minutes to help me process something. Even with the occasional technology issues, it is easy to schedule with and she is willing to schedule when it fits best within my schedule.
