I've been going for years and have noticed throughout the years they have done many things to help alleviate the "hurry up and wait" mentality that it use to have. The guy that's in the waiting area when you first get there is so friendly and informative. He's always super nice and willing to answer any questions you may have. Also, the ladies in the back are always smiling and friendly which is nice for those of us that don't mind being there. The addition of the shuttle for the jurors to and from the courthouse is the best idea they've ever come up with because that train is a pain in the you know what when trying to get back from a break on time. It also makes it avoidable to walk under the overpass where the homeless population love to hang out. Actually it seems like they may have cleaned that overpass up because I looked and didn't see any out there this time around. I love the many options available for food during your breaks. That is my favorite aspect of serving. There are so many new and exciting places to eat just on 18th and 19th streets alone. If you choose to venture farther there are even more! Just remember that it is your civil duty to serve and take it a day at a time while there and you will be just fine.

If you enter this facility as a soon-to-be divorced father I've got some really bad news for you: You are about to experience an unimaginable level of injustice and bias, regardless of who you are as a person. Your distinguished career as a continuously employed hard-working individual does not matter, and your spotless record as a law-abiding citizen does not matter. Even if you don't drink alcohol, don't do illegal drugs, don't gamble, and you were never unfaithful to your soon-to-be ex-wife, none of this matters to this courthouse. Most importantly, it does not even matter how good of a father you are. The only thing that matters to this courthouse is that you are a man, and because of this you are highly unlikely to be granted sole custody, primary custody, or even equal custody of your own children. I was once naive, and I believed that the world was fair. Unfortunately, while here, I suddenly became aware of lawyers, mediators and even judges prepared to make decisions against you based on their antiquated belief that mothers are better parents than fathers. It is even more unimaginable to realize that most courthouses maintain this ridiculous belief, especially considering the progress toward equal rights this country has made over the last 70 years. Unfortunately, what most divorcing fathers will first experience will be initiated by the lawyers, most often with the mother's lawyer demanding sole or primary custody of the children. This initial legal bias is baffling, and most often leaves the father surprised that he must advocate for his own equal rights. Most importantly, regardless of what the lawyers bring before the court, the judge in a family law custody case should seek justice and equality, and should strive for what is in the best interest of the children. For my case, the judge in this courthouse did not. And unfortunately, I later discovered that this is typical for most family law judges in this country. So yes, I took the blue pill for most of my life, just believing everything that society told me about reality. Upon entering this courthouse, I still believed that my honorable, ethical and fatherly characteristics mattered. I was tragically wrong, and I was rudely awakened to the reality of the discrimination against fathers in our U.S. family law system (aka, being forced to "take the red pill"). Unlike this courthouse, I strongly believe that the presumption should be 50/50 (or equal) shared parenting in all cases, and this should be enforced unless unusual circumstances dictate otherwise. While here, with this strong belief, I also learned that it does not matter how much you "fight for your kids" as a father in this courthouse. Unfortunately, I spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to prove I was a good father, fighting tirelessly in what I now realize was an unwinnable battle. But, why does a father have to prove he is a good parent at all? Shouldn't the burden of proof be reversed? Shouldn't we just presume a father is a good parent unless proven otherwise? Finally, let me emphasize this sad truth: I am not alone; My tragic circumstances are not unique. Millions of other fathers in this country have been unjustly treated, just like me. Sadly, there is an elusive corruption in this system, hidden from most folks unless they happen to be a father going through the process of a divorce. This family law system provides an alluring financial incentive for divorcing mothers to demand dominance over their children because this action almost always maximizes the financial gain of everyone within this corrupt family law system in the process. These actions are led by most courthouses in this country every day, year after year, just as it was at this specific courthouse for me. Nationwide, there are millions of victims here, and sadly my children are now among them. Unfortunately, my children will not be blessed with the advantage of having frequent and easy access to their loving father, for a role model, for a positive influence, for support, for guidance, for encouragement, and for many other beneficial qualities that most fathers provide. They were denied that right, and I was denied my right of spending equal quality time with my own children. Unfortunately, now my children will spend the vast majority of their time with one selfish parent that has made false allegations about my character, even at the expense of our own children's well-being, all while this courthouse turned a blind eye. Therefore, this courthouse is well-deserving of a 1-star rating for its injustice served, and for submitting to the family law corruption that dominates most of this country. Open your eyes. See the inequality. Take the red pill.

But there is one woman there that is extremely rude condescending and just outright makes you feel like a criminal!!!!!! I just cringe every time I go to that window and I pray that she's not the person that comes up there to help me. I really think she needs to take a Customer service course because to work with people on a daily basis you have to be nice. Not rude and talk to people like they're idiots. The other thing I noticed that she picks and chooses who to be nice too. I've had to come in on several occasions and just pray that she isn't going to be the person that I'm gonna have to deal with.

Through multiple discovery motion requests, I asked for evidence for my speeding ticket trial. The CHP officer showed up twice unprepared and without any evidence. CA law says case dismissed if prosecution doesn't disclose evidence in a timely manner. I quoted the CA law and asked for my case to be dismissed twice. Wooten said "I''m not inclined to do that" and "They don't like when I do that". He literally just picks and chooses the CA laws he wants to follow! Instead of dismissing my case, Wooten kept continuing my case giving the CHP officer multiple chances and causing me to drive 300 miles up to court each time. I had the pleasure of sitting and observing Wooten's court all day (4 times including arraignment). If the cop showed up you were guilty, no matter what. If the cop didn't show up, you were innocent. I didn't see Wooten giving any defendants multiple chances to come back better prepared as he kept doing with his CHP cronies in my case Finally the CHP officer in my case didn't show up the 3rd time, so my case was dismissed, but having experienced and witnessed Wooten's corrupt ways was a real eye opener. Must be nice to be Wooten and make rulings directly against CA law with zero oversight/repercussions.
