Without going into too much personal details, I have had to build my own family law case and the office was incredibly helpful in providing materials which included step-by-step instructions and even diagrams on how to complete each page along with each step in the process. They also review your paperwork when complete and will mark any errors and I feel they went above and beyond each time in not only answering my questions about paperwork but providing me with guidance through the next steps. The Clerk's office has also been incredibly helpful on several occasions. I have both filed and ordered paperwork through them and each time has been a positive experience. Each assistant is not necessarily the most warm and welcoming, but they always provided me with the correct information and when I ordered endorsed paperwork, I got it that same trip. They also have family mediation, child support and family law cases heard here. Some are in the courtroom, some are in a mediation setting. Overall, while intimidating and often not the most welcoming environment, the courthouse as served its purpose in my and others' lives I have been there with and as long as we followed instructions and asked questions, we accomplished what we were there to do.

I've been going for years and have noticed throughout the years they have done many things to help alleviate the "hurry up and wait" mentality that it use to have. The guy that's in the waiting area when you first get there is so friendly and informative. He's always super nice and willing to answer any questions you may have. Also, the ladies in the back are always smiling and friendly which is nice for those of us that don't mind being there. The addition of the shuttle for the jurors to and from the courthouse is the best idea they've ever come up with because that train is a pain in the you know what when trying to get back from a break on time. It also makes it avoidable to walk under the overpass where the homeless population love to hang out. Actually it seems like they may have cleaned that overpass up because I looked and didn't see any out there this time around. I love the many options available for food during your breaks. That is my favorite aspect of serving. There are so many new and exciting places to eat just on 18th and 19th streets alone. If you choose to venture farther there are even more! Just remember that it is your civil duty to serve and take it a day at a time while there and you will be just fine.

It is time to stop being silent, and to speak out against inequality and discrimination…read more This review is for the Kern County Superior Court - Mojave Branch. If you enter this facility as a soon-to-be divorced father I've got some really bad news for you: You are about to experience an unimaginable level of injustice and bias, regardless of who you are as a person. Your distinguished career as a continuously employed hard-working individual does not matter, and your spotless record as a law-abiding citizen does not matter. Even if you don't drink alcohol, don't do illegal drugs, don't gamble, and you were never unfaithful to your soon-to-be ex-wife, none of this matters to this courthouse. Most importantly, it does not even matter how good of a father you are. The only thing that matters to this courthouse is that you are a man, and because of this you are highly unlikely to be granted sole custody, primary custody, or even equal custody of your own children. I was once naive, and I believed that the world was fair. Unfortunately, while here, I suddenly became aware of lawyers, mediators and even judges prepared to make decisions against you based on their antiquated belief that mothers are better parents than fathers. It is even more unimaginable to realize that most courthouses maintain this ridiculous belief, especially considering the progress toward equal rights this country has made over the last 70 years. Unfortunately, what most divorcing fathers will first experience will be initiated by the lawyers, most often with the mother's lawyer demanding sole or primary custody of the children. This initial legal bias is baffling, and most often leaves the father surprised that he must advocate for his own equal rights. Most importantly, regardless of what the lawyers bring before the court, the judge in a family law custody case should seek justice and equality, and should strive for what is in the best interest of the children. For my case, the judge in this courthouse did not. And unfortunately, I later discovered that this is typical for most family law judges in this country. So yes, I took the blue pill for most of my life, just believing everything that society told me about reality. Upon entering this courthouse, I still believed that my honorable, ethical and fatherly characteristics mattered. I was tragically wrong, and I was rudely awakened to the reality of the discrimination against fathers in our U.S. family law system (aka, being forced to "take the red pill"). Unlike this courthouse, I strongly believe that the presumption should be 50/50 (or equal) shared parenting in all cases, and this should be enforced unless unusual circumstances dictate otherwise. While here, with this strong belief, I also learned that it does not matter how much you "fight for your kids" as a father in this courthouse. Unfortunately, I spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to prove I was a good father, fighting tirelessly in what I now realize was an unwinnable battle. But, why does a father have to prove he is a good parent at all? Shouldn't the burden of proof be reversed? Shouldn't we just presume a father is a good parent unless proven otherwise? Finally, let me emphasize this sad truth: I am not alone; My tragic circumstances are not unique. Millions of other fathers in this country have been unjustly treated, just like me. Sadly, there is an elusive corruption in this system, hidden from most folks unless they happen to be a father going through the process of a divorce. This family law system provides an alluring financial incentive for divorcing mothers to demand dominance over their children because this action almost always maximizes the financial gain of everyone within this corrupt family law system in the process. These actions are led by most courthouses in this country every day, year after year, just as it was at this specific courthouse for me. Nationwide, there are millions of victims here, and sadly my children are now among them. Unfortunately, my children will not be blessed with the advantage of having frequent and easy access to their loving father, for a role model, for a positive influence, for support, for guidance, for encouragement, and for many other beneficial qualities that most fathers provide. They were denied that right, and I was denied my right of spending equal quality time with my own children. Unfortunately, now my children will spend the vast majority of their time with one selfish parent that has made false allegations about my character, even at the expense of our own children's well-being, all while this courthouse turned a blind eye. Therefore, this courthouse is well-deserving of a 1-star rating for its injustice served, and for submitting to the family law corruption that dominates most of this country. Open your eyes. See the inequality. Take the red pill.

Philthy reViews...hanging out in Shafter Court Should you go? I can't honestly recommend going because it means you did something wrong and you know you're in for it. You're there to pay something or give up something. So allow me to say foremost: DO NOT SPEED ON THE I-5 BETWEEN SF AND LA. IT IS A SPEEDTRAP FROM HELL. I'm told by Vanessa, a fellow Yelper, that they don't tend to pull you over so long as you don't exceed 77 m.p.h. Yeah I was over this speed but the CHP had a nice juicy Mustang and took out the family minivan instead. Based on my location on the 5, I was told to report here on a Friday only before 2/2, which based on when I got the courtesy notice gave me a little under 3 weeks. So that being said, here is what to expect in Shafter, CA. Courthouse opens at 8. Already about 15 people waiting when I got there and it was freezing. Got in, metal sweep, and to the clerk. It's either pay or see the judge. I chose the latter. Waited at a nearby coffeeshop (review pending) and back by 1000. 1030-11 they were finishing up the custody/family, uncomfortable to have to listen to..cases. Then it begins... Judge will call you, ask you to plead, if you plead no contest or guilty, he will more than likely cut you a break, and you plead and you take your prize and go to the clerk. Allow me to say Judge Shayer was a fair judge. He lowered my fine to reasonable levels and no license restrictions. Whew...how would I have got home otherwise? Uber to LA would have been pricey. Jk. Just save yourself the experience, the day you have to call off from work, the 2 hour drive there and back, and do not speed. I was trying to overtake a truck with a long trailer and he tagged me while I was accelerating but I had been on the lookout the whole trip for my speed. It's when you drop your guard or become distracted that they magically appear. All the other reviewers here have valid arguments for their experience but mine wasn't as bad as I thought. I would 0 star the CHP if I could here, but the courts were all right. Parking: JK....

Throughout the last months of 2024, every single person I have spoken with about our local law enforcement support has said very very negative things about response time, courtesy, professionalism (when and if they were dispatched and finally arrived). To me, this is more than sad. It is unacceptable conduct on behalf of those involved in receiving calls for assistance - from any "public servant" in any capacity. Especially since those they "serve" pay their salaries!!!!! Law enforcement was developed to uphold the sacred CONSTITUTION of the United States of America - not withstanding the Preamble to the Constitution. Anybody read that lately? How much longer will we be granted our freedoms (supposed to be protected by laws and it follows, law enforcement) if they are not reasonably enforced and protected??? How much longer? What is this county, city, country, and world to become if corruption, lawlessness, insurrection, discrimination, hate, and unwillingness to enforce and uphold our laws meant to preserve our way of life, last??? Ask yourselves! Think about it! Really! And last, but not least, WHAT kind of legacy are we leaving (our example) as to what is acceptable conduct for generations to come? Are they even going to have a safe, decent, quiet, clean country and TRUSTWORTHY government (which includes law enforcement agencies) to look to for assistance and help in times of trouble? What will they have? Tell me, please! WHAT WILL THEY HAVE???
