I have not gone to this doctor ...as he is out of my network. I have given him 5 stars because of his credentials alone. I have been to many top doctors and find them on a free site castleconnolly.com This doctor appears to be equivalent to those doctors I have seen in Manhattan and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Again, I haven't been a patient..but he is one I would loved to call my dermatologist. I went to Dr. Kern for a routine dermatology exam. I had what I believed to be scar tissue on my abdomen. Dr. Kern felt this did not look routine to him. Although I had various checkups over the years and this was not identified as a concern. He biopsied it, and it is a rare sarcoma that has since been removed and thankfully caught before it spread. Which he called before the biopsy came in. This man is so smart he had never seen this type of tumor only saw it presented in conference. It is literally one in a million. He also identified a spot on my arm that I had not noticed but I know was not there very long. This was melanoma. Also caught early removed with clear margins. Dr. Kern's expertise, thoroughness and skill has essentially saved my life. He is kind, and a true patient advocate. He and Maryann supported and comforted me and my family during the stressful time of waiting for results. He referred me to a specialist to remove the sarcoma and has checked up on me several for a progress report. My husband indicates that he is a super hero. I cannot say enough about this doctor. Having been in healthcare for over 30 years I have crossed paths with many great physicians. A bonus is he has excellent surgical skill as my melanoma scar is barely noticeable. I have been seeing Dr. Kern for several years now. Prior to my twenties I had a moderate acne problem and was using another dermatologist, who prescribed several topical solutions that were relatively successful in solving my problem. It wasn't until I was in college that a family friend suggested Dr. Kern and my family began using him as our dermatologist. Dr. Kern has a degree from Duke and operates his practice out of an office connected to his beautiful home on the bay in Brigantine. His practice has a small-town family feel (think Everwood- if you were a fan of the WB in high school) and his staff are cordial and accommodating. I noticed a difference in the care and personal quality of service at Dr.Kern's office, in comparison to doctors I've had in the past. I no longer require acne treatment, but Dr. Kern prescribed my sister with an oral acne medication that she has had great results with. My mother also sees him to treat a mild eczema problem. I still see Dr. Kern once or twice a year for checkups and schedule microdermabrasion treatments with his wonderful, board licensed Esthetician Angelica Rossino. I can't say enough positive things about Angelica. I usually schedule 3 consecutive appointments with her a year, to clean out my pores and refresh my complexion. I always enjoy the experience and the noticeable difference the microdermabrasion treatments make - it's like a fresh start for my skin. Angelica is extremely friendly and caring, she loves what she does and always carries a cheerful disposition. In addition to treating my skin, Angelica also administers laser treatments to my mother, who has also had great results and an enjoyable experience. A gem on the island. Nothing beats experience when it comes to a doctor particularly a dermatologist. Not only are his credentials impeccable including training and teaching at the likes of Duke and Penn but the level of kindness and professionalism is unsurpassed which not only includes him but his staff. After my daughter saw multiple dermatologists without success he quickly diagnosed the problem and help correct it. I was recommended to see Dr. Kern by a couple of local friends. I needed a new dermatologist since I moved away from my home town. I started seeing Dr. Kern in April 2016 and by September 2016 my acne has considerably cleared up with the use of antibiotic in pill form and Epiduo cream. I made 3 visits to Dr. Kern's office in Brigantine. I highly recommend Dr. Kern because it is clear that he has tons of knowledge and he genuinely cared about my issues. All of his answers to my questions were always thoughtful. I am off of the antibiotic now for about 2 weeks and my skin still looks great. read more
