For years the Dream Center has been a place where current and former foster youth can go if they need guidance and help. Their new location has more than doubled their square footage making it possible for them to provide new services for homeless and youth transitioning out of the foster care system. All of the same resources still exist. Some new additions include access to showers and washing machines. Youth can find a supportive community here. It is a spot where friends can be made and mentors can be found. There is no other place like this in Kern! I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is... The staff here is wonderful! From the front desk receptionist to the custodian; everyone who works here has a huge heart for youth and helping others. The youth I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout the years have been some of the smartest and most resilient human beings I've ever met. They are a real inspiration and I am so glad that Kern County has a place that is focused on helping their dreams become reality.

After all, if you served, and you pay taxes, you have earned every right to receive your benefits. I can't stress enough how important it is to get into the Vet Center and see what's going on BEFORE you get into a situation that requires you to need services. I say this because although the staff here are friendly and pretty fast (for a government agency), VA claims take a long time to process. While this is happening, you don't want to be in need. The Vet Center on Golden State has plenty of parking and an organized sign in system. They have a good bit of room in the waiting area, and seem very interested in getting you what you need. So, thanks for your service, and don't forget to take a look at the benefits you might have coming.

There is a pool table, games, a full kitchen, outdoor sitting area with fire pit, indoor bball court, locker rooms, computer lounge, and the best part.....workout room! We came here tonight for Bingo and the system is newly updated. The members are extremely…read morewelcoming and make you feel comfortable. The building and facilities are a little dated and could use some upgrading. They have a kitchen where they serve food for Bingo. Smelled good when we came in. Fun night of Bingo! Every Friday at 6 but doors open at 4 and it gets crowded. The metal chairs you sit on for three hours are extremely uncomfortable. I would suggest bring chair pads to sit on.
