The Waterfall Trail was more of a true trail, winding through the woods. The Lake Trail primarily looped around the lake. It would have been nice to have distance markers on the sign. This was the perfect spot. I'm sure we probably weren't supposed to let him in the pond but it was his last day with us so we let him splash around the edge. The trails were still viable even given all the leaves had fallen. It was a really peaceful walk and we made great memories. There weren't people there at the time we went which I was thankful given our circumstances. Unfortunately it hadn't rained enough lately to produce the waterfall in the waterfall trail but we did get to see a little one on a different trail. If you walk the waterfall trail and get to the top, there's an intersection where you'll see lots of people carved their names in a tree. Stop by and look up, if you see JAX, that's in honor of my boy. Enjoy your fur babies, your children, and your own life, stop and smell the flowers. Take a walk on a sunny day and feel the sunshine in your face. We're only here for a short while.

This is the perfect little quiet place to enjoy nature, and soak up the sun locally. It's a little difficult to find the entrance. Oxford is very rural and there is a lot of empty land. Look for the Lake Devin sign. Parking is available on the gravel providing easy access for those with mobility challenges. This was perfect for mom. We sat under the sheltered picnic area which kept us cool from the sun. There were families fishing for catfish on the docks and the weather was perfect. I've found a sweet little escape on sunny days.

This has become my go-to running spot while in NC for work…read more The entrance into the park is gated and is typically not open during the early hours that I arrive so I park in the lot just outside the gate, which has a quick easy access to the Neuse River Greenway Trail (left) and Crabtree Creek Greenway Trail (right). What I love is you get two very different running paths. The Neuse River Greenway is flat and pretty open. The Crabtree Creek Greenway has some minor elevation but some really cool bridges to go over (including a winding one). The park, itself, has its own running paths. There are bathrooms, water fountains, picnic areas and a big playground. Lots of covered space. From the outside parking lot, you'll hike over the bridge over the freeway into the park (about .20 miles). The bathrooms have a coded door lock that I haven't figured out yet. There is some type of house within the park as well, and I'm not sure what it's about. If you want to find the first really cool bridge, you'll go past the house and keep staying straight on the trail and not veering left or right. Also, the area between the house and the bathrooms yields some pretty cool breezes. I've noticed that temps get cooler from the adjacent field when running through there. There are mile markers on the Crabtree Creek Greenway Trail. You'll hit your first hill at about 1.15 miles from the parking lot outside the gate. Perfect place for long runs, interval workouts or bike rides. Very scenic!

Some were dead, but many were still living. Although there was significant rain this week, many parts of the fields were sandy and dry, there is a ramp like at the beach for wheelchairs and strollers. Also saw one of the hammock areas, a dog park and a troll ! I was seriously impressed at the size and scale of this park, and could easily spend an entire day exploring and enjoying, or bringing a lunch spread. Would definitely like to find and see the other trolls (heard there are 5 in total), spend some more time relaxing in hammock alley! Hope to return in the future!

We enjoyed the hammocks set between two trees - and there were many of them. The trolls were fun. They each had names, and a QR code to read their stories. Other visitors offered pieces to the puzzle. One even visited Charlotte, NC, where I believed she talked about the grandmother, but it's a tree instead of a troll. Anyway, good strolls, lots of sun, and it was fun watching the dogs at the dog park. Plan on a couple of ours in search for the trolls. Or, do that, and picnic under the trees or pavilions. There are shuttles so you can park in one area, and then visit another.

Private beach front. Quite location. This time of the year not buggy. Unfortunately, the leaves haven't turned yet. There's local store about a mile or two from the site where you can purchase firewood, gas and whatever else you may have forgotten to pack. Across the street is a new Mexican place before that it was a pizza place - hopefully they stay open till our next visit. We tend to meal prep when we camp. Overall, an amazing camping experience and it is the closest you can get to water with a full electrical (50 amp) and water hookup. Till next time!!
