Sam went above and beyond to get the results I was looking for. Throughout the entire process, he…read morewas incredibly attentive, always keeping me in the loop with regular updates and checking in to see if I had any questions or concerns. Sam is a great lawyer for a fair price. Legal issues can be so stressful, but Sam was consistently reassuring and made me feel like I was in good hands. He took the time to really listen and made sure I felt supported every step of the way. His dedication and professionalism stood out, and I'm so grateful for his help. If you're looking for a lawyer in Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti, I would absolutely recommend Sam Bernstein. He's not just a great attorney--he's someone who genuinely cares about his clients and works hard to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Terrible regrets in hiring this inattentive and disinterested person. He had over 100 pending cases…read moreand time for no one. He caused a simple misdemeanor to linger on for 2.5 years with over 12 adjournments because he was not prepared or scheduled multiple court appearance at the same time. Bernstein angered the judge by being late for sentencing, judge had the court clerk call him after shouting at me "where is Mr. Bernstein?" He then appeared in his car on the side of the road with his laptop, he once again left to appear in a felony case of a man in prison then turned up again on zoom for my sentencing with the judge fuming. He was sitting splay legged. stretched out in a chair looking angry in a breakout room at a prison. He said nothing to support my character or represent me. The judge took her spite out on me and was very aggressive with him. I had asked to go to trial, and he spent every opportunity to tell me how much stress it would be even though I was innocent. He wanted me to take a plea deal against my wishes as he works his magic with the prosecutors and manages to make thousands by not representing the wishes of his clients. I asked what was required of the plea deal he told me a couple hundred dollars in fine, 20 hrs. community service and 1 year probation that would be dismissed probably at 6 months and total expungement off my record, I stupidly agreed because he said I could have up to $15000 in fines and 2 years in prison which was a lie. The reality became $1200 in court costs, 80 hours community service and 2 years' probation and NO EXPUNGEMENT written into plea agreement, he lied to me. He refuses to appear for sentencing or probation hearings. The judge asked about him at a probation hearing with another defendant that he abandoned in court just as he did me. He will be tried in the court of public opinion.

Elizabeth Janovic was employed both as a mediator and as a parenting coordinator in my divorce…read morecase. The good outcome in my case was in spite of Ms. Janovic's services, not because of them. For example, in mediation, my attorney told Ms. Janovic that my priority was getting the best custody arrangement I could, with financial issues secondary. However, he explicitly instructed Ms. Janovic not to reveal those priorities to the other party or her attorney at the outset. Inexplicably, before trying various other mediation strategies, Ms. Janovic almost immediately told the other party that if they would compromise on custody issues, I would be willing to sacrifice many of my financial interests. This early disclosure ended up costing me many thousands of dollars. However, Ms. Janovic's ineffectiveness as a divorce mediator paled in comparison to her incompetence as a parenting coordinator. Ms. Janovic's first court order as a parenting coordinator violated basic legal standards, so the judge on the case sent it back to be rewritten. Ms. Janovic then charged the parties for the time it took her to redo this work to adhere to court standards, essentially profiting from her own error and lack of legal knowledge. Ms. Janovic also seemed confused about the Michigan laws governing parenting coordinators, along with the specific contract that enshrined the terms of her appointment. She had to reach out to the court for clarification on the Michigan law governing parenting coordinator appointments, for which she also billed the parties even though I had previously emailed her the relevant statutory and contract provisions. Furthermore, her act of contacting the judicial attorney was itself improper and ultimately fruitless, as court employees are forbidden from offering legal advice. Ultimately, after I described these episodes and other conduct that I found objectionable, the judge removed Ms. Janovic as parenting coordinator and the mediator of record on my case. Since then, our case has run much more smoothly, with less conflict and fewer costs. I would advise anyone seeking legal services in the area of family law to avoid Ms. Janovic.

Where do I even start?…read more I was referred to Bill and Elizabeth last week after a terrifying arraignment regarding violations that were not a true representation of my character/behavior during my probation period. From the start Bill showed a great deal of understanding for my case, especially since the system is unrelenting for fellow queer POC/Trans-folks like me. His experience and perspective gives a logical and realistic approach that doesn't leave you feeling like you have no options and he makes you feel heard in the court room. Mind you, my case did not seem like it was going to go well because I was facing jail-time for technical violations, but the two of them worked hard to advocate for me. This is truly a special practice they have here. I have dealt with two other lawyers before them and I can confidently say that you can bank your life on Bill and Elizabeth! The way Elizabeth can keep you on track and level headed is nothing short of a true hero. Her ability to empathize makes you remember how human we all are, and that is a rare find in a lawyer! You won't find a more knowledgable and experienced legal team elsewhere. They genuinely care about your short and long-term wellbeing. OH. I almost forgot, they managed to get me off probation and no jail-time. Of course this isn't always going to be the case and there was some luck at play, but none of that would have happened without Wilson P. Tanner III, PLC!

Be warned. This office is incredibly unprofessional, inept and rude. They represented my ex (and…read moreeven he regrets hiring them!). My attorney repeatedly remarked that their handling was absolutely unacceptable and disappointing. A short list of issues (from a very long list!) includes continuously responding late to my lawyer, lying on the paperwork that they drafted so my lawyer would have to spend more time (and more of my money) to get them to correct items like my birthdate, income, etc. They dragged things out so much, which I assume is a tactic used to milk their clients for additional hours. Our divorce took almost a year longer than it should have! At one point I had to go their office to retrieve paperwork that they were legally required to submit by a timeline- when I arrived they only printed a fraction of what we were supposed to. Again and again this is how they mismanaged our case. And now, a year after the divorce has been final and they still haven't submitted the paperwork properly to the courts for the dispersion of the pensions (QRDO's). After leaving multiple messages, I finally received a call back from the office who then preceded to connect me to him for a meeting over the phone... he got on the line and literally screamed at me and hung up! So incredibly rude. It is because of his offices mistakes that they continue to cause these issues. I didn't request a phone call meeting with him- all I want to know is where is our QDRO in process!? 2 of the 3 QDRO's are completed and filed in the courts. The 3rd one is just floating in their dysfunctional and disgraceful office. The entire system of divorce attorneys is a complete and utter sham, taking advantage of people who are already struggling thru one of the most difficult periods of their life. This office is inept at representing their own clients, and lacks any sense of decorum. Please save yourself the time, energy and money and find another lawyer that may still rob you, but maybe at least they'll treat you and your soon to be ex-spouse with bit of respect or common decency. Regardless of us filing for divorce- we were married for 30 years and have 3 children together. The least a respectable attorney could do is treat all parties respectfully. Absolutely disgraceful.

Communication was excellent throughout the process--they were very responsive and took the time to clearly explain each step. Their rates were reasonable, and the outcome exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend their services to anyone needing knowledgeable and reliable legal representation.
