Love Kessel Dermatology and my family and I have been patients for over 20 years. Decided to venture into cosmetic treatment and had a terrible experience. Rushed, overpriced and the engagement with staff unprofessional. After the procedure was done I asked how long to see results - was told these were the results, needless to say I was so disappointed. I did explore other providers and have gotten superior results, more inviting environment and the cost noticeably different. Will continue with dermatology but very disappointed with the cosmetic arm. read more

I went here for psoriasis of the scalp and the clobetisol cream was ordered for the scalp. Efren the NP was nice but I feel like there is a miscommunication with the office regarding the ordering of meds my pharmacy. It took several phone calls with my pharmacy and their office and a couple months to get the medication. He said he offered bloodwork but no script was given. He is a good NP when there's better communication. Just try to be early so he can take you right away and assess your skin needs. read more

These chiseling sc@mbags use some grossly overpriced lab to process samples despite constant and explicit notice to use labs covered under my insurance (quest and labcorp). This happens SO FREQUENTLY that there must be some sort of motivation for Kessel to ignore these patient instructions, or utter incompetence of the staff. Avoid them at all costs or be prepared to get hit with a huge fee. read more

Horrible practice. Doctor simply yelled out skin conditions I couldn't understand to his assistant and then never told me how to treat my problems. I asked for acne medication that I was prescribed at my last visit and now it's $820. Clearly I can't afford that for a simple acne cream.. what's the point of going to a $50 doctor visit if they can't help you find something that works for you. His only actual recommendation was that he could remove a couple skin tags for $250. Absolutely a joke. I will never return. The fact that they still call, email and text me about making an appointment when I've unsubscribed and asked them to STOP texting me... wow they just light my fire. A Cautionary Tale- Consider this review a public service. Stay far, far, away from this practice unless you want to be treated like garbage!! These people have no compassion and are the picture of incompetence!! I needed a second opinion after being diagnosed with melanoma (a normal, everyday occurrence) and requested my records be sent to another practice but the office staff refused to send them out without first copying them and then faxing them. Next, I was told it would take a week. I even went there personally and signed a release form so that I could take my records with me and they refused to give them to me. I had to finally wait for a call from the office manager after I was told he wasn't in, they didn't know when he'd be back or when he could return my call. Miraculously, after speaking with him, my records were sent within minutes. This is no way to run a medical office!! If you don't have any empathy you shouldn't be working for a doctor!!. The doctors' staff is a reflection on them and a decent doctor should be aware of the way the office staff treats their patients and not allow this!! read more

Quite possibly the worst practice ever. Dr. Kessel is rude and arrogant and does not listen to the APNs in the office, let alone his patients. Front desk staff do not document communication in the chart, so no one ever seems to fully know what is going on - 2 calls to the office from Children's Hospital were not documented nor returned. Appointments are canceled without notice. Lab results routinely take 2 or more weeks to come back. Dr. Kessel's lack of patient care caused my young son a 2 day hospital stay and indescribable amounts of pain, for what we were told was an "easily diagnosable common childhood rash" that could have been treated at home with antibiotics had Dr. Kessel been willing to take a complete history, perform a thorough exam, and listen to the information provided to him. My 7 year old was admitted to the hospital and placed on IV antibiotics and pain medicine just 2 days after being seen the first time by Dr. Kessel. When we arrived for that first visit, his knees were so blistered he could barely walk, yet we were sent home and told his situation was mild compared to what he had seen in other children. Unless you want to be condescended to, dismissed, or misdiagnosed, run far away from Dr. Kessel and his office. read more

And at the end of the appointment never asked do you have any questions? Ughhh I don't get it. You became a Dr. or a health care worker to help people and then they treat you like this. read more

I made an appointment here at this office and i didn't even get to make it inside yet & it was poor customer service already. i called the front desk to let them know i was outside (covid since you cant go in) and one of the employees in the background as i was on the telephone asking another employee where they were located and the remarks i heard in the background were not nice "omg she's late again" "that's ridiculous" in reality i was not! she placed me on hold for about 3 mins, when she got back on the phone i kindly informed her i heard what was said and it was very unprofessional and no i do not want to reschedule. idk if they were having a bad day but i do not accept any of that, hire more respectable employees... I've never been here and this was my experience.. so i hope someone else's is a lot better then mine! read more

I had the most amazing experience at Kessel Dermatology. I had been putting off getting something checked out FOR YEARS -- a growth on my scalp that would not heal. Ten years I had been dragging my feet. So, as you can imagine, walking in there took every ounce of -- whatever -- I had. My whole demeanor changed as soon as I stepped foot in the door. Doctors' offices are sometimes not aware how important their front office staff is. Yes, I know these people are overworked and underappreciated, but an unkind word or a dismissive attitude from them sets most patients into a tailspin. I was greeted promptly and warmly by Carly, and I could kick myself for not getting her last name. That kind greeting and friendly manner set the tone for everything that happened after. And as great as the doctor and medical assistant were who tended to me (Jennifer Smith, APN, and Shara Lavine, Medical Assistant) my first interaction with Carly will long be remembered. That's not to say that the high degree of professionalism and thoroughness of Jennifer Smith and Ms. Levine was not also appreciated. They were crisp, thorough, detail-oriented, and extremely comforting. I highly recommend this place. Oh, and best yet: You can actually get in to see someone almost IMMEDIATELY. Next-day appointments are available! They run a tight ship there. read more

But with you, we were never face to face, only voices on the phone, so he was extremely happy to hear that I treat the patients I've never met the same as the ones I used to see over and over in the office. Horrible horrible place! Told my grandfather he had some crazy skin disease and had him on prescription pills that treat cancer patients!! he started to lose his hair and was walking with a cane when he would usually go for 2 miles walks every day! He then went to Dr. Bagel at windsor dermatology and was told it was ECZEMA!! and to take an oatmeal bath and use over the counter cream and in 3 days it was gone!! Dr. Kessel almost killed him do not trust them especially with elders they are medicine happy!!! read more

I have been to Kessel Dermatology a number of times over the last 15 years. I have had a good experience with the staff and other providers, but the appointment I recently had with Dr. Kessel was the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional. I was told to stop talking because I kept trying to explain skin issues from previous weeks that I felt were related to the current condition and was not being listened to in the slightest. I was absolutely patronized for going to him for a second opinion rather than just following what another doctor over telemedicine told me to do. My family and I will never be going back to this office. read more

This was not my first visit to Kessel Dermatology. My first experience was with Joe White who is fabulous. My recent experience was with Melissa P and Dr Handler. I was diagnosed with a melanoma and needed it biopsied and then removed. The care I received and the knowledge of these two professionals was astounding. Very friendly and comforting at a very scary time. Melissa literally saved my life and Dr Handler did a beautiful job removing the melanoma. Highly recommend these two professionals. read more

There are no stars that are low enough for my review of Dr. Kessel and his entire practice. He should be sued for malpractice based upon the care that he as well as his staff provided or did not provide. Do yourself a favor and run far, far away or you will end up with a huge bill while finding another dermatologist who is both qualified to treat you and not a self serving crook. read more

I found this practice with just a simple "Dermatologist Near Me" google search. I am not exaggerating when I say, after seeing Dr.Kessel consistently now for months my quality of life has drastically changed. I was dealing with chronic infections for the majority of my life, then these infections started appearing on my skin as well. Everyday was difficult! I have been to every specialist, done every lab and completely changed every bad habit. After years, I am finally being treated properly. He went more aggressive than other doctors and it worked. It is still working til this day and I now see him every 6 weeks. I have seen a few other doctors at the practice and absolutely no offense to them. They just aren't him. I will continue to go here until I am cleared and managed. I kind of feel like I got my life back. Hope this helps someone out there! read more

Today was my first visit to Kessel Dermatology and I am absolutely blown away by the outstanding quality of service that I received today. First off this practice had their act together, the staff is professional and polite and they go the extra mile for their patients. I tried to see another dermatologist nearby but the were unable to book an appointment and I'd have to wait more than a month to be seen. So I called Kessel dermatology and the were able able to see me right away! I had several problems with my insurance and KD made helpful suggestions that enabled me to sort everything out so I could be seen with no worries about payment. The doctor was very thorough during my examination and did everything possible to put me at ease. They took great care not to cause me pain or discomfort and I was so impressed by their professionalism. Overall I think this is one of the very best medical practices that I have ever visited. I have no doubt that that are truly concerned about the health and well being of their patients and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking a first rate dermatologist. I know that I will not hesitate to make a return visit. I am so impressed! read more

I have only been to the Hamilton office, the service is prompt and adequate. My only issue is with their full skin exam, If you watch any of the videos on u-tube they are quite specific about removing undies for this exam, at this practice they have you leave them on which is fine so long as there are no issues in the private areas. But when you request the full skin exam it should be all inclusive, isn't that why they give you a gown? read more
