I also asked them to put the condensed milk on the side which was perfect as the shaved ice itself already had plenty of flavor so I didn't even need the condensed milk. I loved that they included actual taro in it and vanilla ice cream to it! The size was pretty average for what you pay for so no complaints there. Seating is a little limited though and it can definitely get packed really fast, especially at night time. They also have a lot of different things on the menu besides bingsoo such as drinks, halo halo, taiyaki, and other desserts too. Service was really fast and parking was really easy as well!

They offer several fillings to choose from, and I went with the custard for a more traditional flavor. Big mistake only getting one because it was SO good. Definitely should've ordered more. We also got the banana crunch bingsu with granola crunch, and the texture of the ice is completely different from the snow cones you'd get at a carnival. Think soft, pillowy, melt-in-your-mouth ice that's super light and refreshing. You really just have to try it for yourself. The seating area is on the smaller side, but the service was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!

They have a converted shiny little Airstream with a big "Shave Ice" sign at the top, so you can't miss it. They make a great (and HUGE) shaved ice treat with tons of syrup flavors, and their coffees are great too! I ordered the Toasted Marshmallow latte and it was fantastic. What's unique about Mermaid Cove is that their milk options are whole, oatmilk, and 2% lactose free milk. I have never seen lactose free milk at a coffee shop before, and I totally appreciate that as someone who has become lactose intolerant, and usually has to have oat or almond milk as an alternative. Looking forward to seeing them at another event!

We had a Hawaiian-themed party at our office last week, and we knew it wouldn't be complete without some authentic shave ice. Mermaid Cove didn't disappoint! They serve their shave ice and speciality coffee through this cute silver Airstream with big letters on top saying, Shave Ice! The decor was very cute and welcoming. They offer over 35 flavors of shave ice, and a selection of toppings- from condensed milk to popping boba. As an added bonus, they include complimentary specialty coffee with their 2 hour service. I opted for the guava and passion fruit shave ice with condensed milk, and let me tell you, their ice is as fluffy as what you'd find in Hawaii! The caramel latte I had was also amazingly good. Our employees couldn't stop raving about both the shave ice and the coffee. A big shoutout to the owners, Michael and Jackie, for their wonderful hospitality and for providing such high-quality, delicious treats. I highly recommend Mermaid Cove Shave Ice for any event- you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely Delicious - A Must-Visit for Ube Lovers! Even…read morethough we recently moved away from Chino Hills to Henderson, NV, Cafe 86 remains one of our absolute favorite spots that we miss the most! Every time we visited, it was a guaranteed hit for the whole family. On our last go-around, we loaded up on our favorites, and as always, they did not disappoint: Ube Tres Leches: The undisputed star of the show. It is incredibly moist, perfectly sweet, and has the most amazing, rich ube flavor. You cannot leave without trying this! Halo Halo: Packed with all the traditional goodies and so refreshing. It's the BOMB. Ube Truffles: Bite-sized perfection. Rich, fudgy, and the ultimate little treat to take home (if they even make it to the car). Jasmine Milk Tea & Sea Salt Coffee: The perfect drink pairings. The jasmine milk tea is wonderfully fragrant and refreshing, while the sea salt coffee hits that perfect balance of bold, savory, and sweet. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and it's just the best place to treat the kids or catch up with friends. Chino Hills is so lucky to have this gem. If you haven't been yet, go change that immediately!

This time…read moreI decided to switch it up and try the loco moco, and unfortunately it was really disappointing. I love a good loco moco, but this one just didn't hit. The beef patties were overly dry, and there was barely any gravy, which made the whole dish feel pretty unsatisfying. The mac salad was good, but overall the meal didn't feel worth the $16-$18 price point. That said, I do plan on coming back because the musubis really are that good. I'll just stick to what they do best or try something different next time. Parking is super easy since it's in a shopping area that never seems too busy, which is always a plus.

The menu is pretty large and they also offer a catering menu. There are many kinds of appetizers like cheesy fries with your choice of protein, and many varieties of musubis. They also sell noodles (noodle soups and garlic noodles) as well as tacos. It was a Tuesday so I decided to try their daily special Fried Chicken Plate with mac salad. I also ordered the HoAloha Chicken Mix Plate with green salad. Both plates come with 2 scoops of rice. Food was ok, but I've honestly had better Hawaiian food. First thing I noticed was that the rice they serve is jasmine rather than the Calrose rice that is usually served with Hawaiian food. Some people don't care, but I'm kind of a rice nerd. It's like using basmati rice in your sushi. You can argue that it's still rice, but it's weird. The fried chicken was hit or miss. Some pieces were good, some were dried out and hard. The sauce that came with it was good. The mac salad was very slippery compared to other Hawaiian mac salads I've had. I kept dropping it everytime I tried to have a bite. The texture and taste reminds me of the mac salad that comes in the tub from the deli at the market. As for the chicken mix plate, the Katsu was pretty thin and dry also. The Katsu sauce was weak - very watery and tasteless. The BBQ chicken was pretty good however. For some good BBQ chicken in the area, I'd rather go around the corner to Jinza.

Just last weekend I tried one from Tasty House in Chino hills by 99 ranch, and BD cafe's version is by far the superior dish! The meat was perfectly marinated with flavor, juicy and tender to bite. The recommended thick noodles are chewy and has the perfect amount of Q. I was recommended the spicy version and boy was it just the right amount. Not for the faint of heart but not intolerable. It came with the side of "salted vegetables" for ultimate authenticity. Only thing I would say is I wish the salted vegetables are bigger pieces for more chewy goodness. The waitress was also very honest with me and not trying to make a sale like other wait staff often does. When I wanted to order spicy wontons, she looked at me with a questionable stare. I am a direct person so I asked what's on her mind. She suspected I wouldn't have room to eat the wontons with the hefty noodle soup, and she was right. 1 hour later, I am still sitting on the couch at home feeling full! Furthermore, I ordered the vegetarian radish cake and they gave it to me for free since they only had 2 slices instead of 3. The wait staff is honest and down to Earth, and really reminds me of myself and brings me pride to be a true Taiwanese. The Taiwanese tv playing in the background adds to the ambiance! Lastly, my curiosity got the best of me and I asked what's BD stand for. The waitress simply said 便當, or bento in mandarin. The food is great and it's gonna be a new favorite for me when I come visit!

I ordered a curry chicken cutlet and double matcha (pure matcha selection) and my order came out in less than 10 minutes. I must've gotten lucky to be the first one here because I noticed later customers receive their orders in 15-20 minutes. The curry chicken is very good for its value. $16 for generous amount of chicken and its thick and juicy. The curry was good flavor on the sweeter side and had a good amount of spice (my level of choice was 2). The double matcha was also very good, they use Marukyu Koyamaen Rindou and the matcha flavor was strong enough to my liking. The cream top was thicker than other places I've tried in the area and had good matcha flavor. For the double matcha I went with Pure Matcha which is matcha with water + matcha cream top. The ambiance inside is like a tea shop, cozy, lots of tables without feeling like a restaurant but rather like a place to study. They had calm music playing when I was here. The Air Conditioner was also on and it was very comfortable to sit inside. I'd definitely come back. I think it's good value, the workers are very nice and it's good to support family owned.
