Keva, Keva, Keva, you have so much potential to be THE sports multiplex in the tri area but you keep doing head-scratching things! For example, they have weekly open play pick-up volleyball with a paid membership. The first irritating thing is that it changes month to month, you have to check their websites for open dates and times. Second, it's only ONE court! *smh* Some days there are so many players that you have to rotate in. Other days there's not enough players unless you bring your own squad. What does it take to just set up two courts?! They have a really cool tiki bar outside with a firepit and patio furniture, but it's not in use. There's even an outdoor stage for live music but I've never seen a band there. There's a kitchen and dining area but the set-up is reminiscent of a elementary school cafeteria. Kids eat free with a purchase of an adult meal. If they just get better tables, some high-tops, and offer quality menu items other than just your typical concession stand food, more families would opt to make this their dinner destination instead of a last-minute emergency/as-needed joint. They have $10 pitchers on Tuesday nights, but a couple weeks ago, all their taps were Oktoberfests! *grrr* Again, offer some better options like some Lagunitas IPA and you'd have a line at the register. It's not that I don't enjoy coming to Keva, I do, but it seems they regularly find ways to 'squeeze' you - mostly in terms of money and the quality and quantity of play. Here are the pros: The facility is sufficient and adequately can accommodate the leagues and activities they promote. From what I've experienced, the courts, fields, equipment, etc. are all good quality and mostly new/updated. Their bar/food area is a nice surprise. Most notably, they have a VERY good beer selection. You wouldn't expect it as they're certainly not (nor should they be) a "go-to" for drinking, but of the six or so beers on tap, I can regularly find 3-4 that I really love. The prices on beer are good, too. Pitchers are between 10-13.00, which is more than a fair price. The outdoor facilities and bar are also very nice. They've done a lot to improve the outdoor area (fire pit, covered shelter, etc.). Their communication is good, the website (DASH), combined with updates from their administrators usually keep you in the loop of any changes or important info. Here are some of the reasons I'm only rating Keva a two-star: Prices for leagues seem to regularly go up, and they do so at a pace seemingly much faster than other leagues. This season, our seven-week volleyball league cost $425.00. I've never been a captain for soccer leagues, but I've learned they're quite expensive as well. The folks I play with agree that the $15.00 'annual membership' is a bit chintzy, it seems to be a way to "nickel and dime" us. These last two factors (league fees going up and recently-added membership fee) are the reason my team and I have found alternative options for summer volleyball for the past few years. We feel the 7-week volleyball season is quite short, we remember leagues, being 8-10 weeks in the past. Also the volleyball matches went from 25 point games to 21 point games. If you do the math, that's a minimum of 84 points (7 weeks x 3 games x 4 points/game), or the equivalent of 4+ games that were taken away, or more, in addition to reducing the number of weeks we play. The refs are hit or miss. Many are great, pleasant, fair, consistent. Kudos to them. Others seem disinterested. Some have even asked us if we want to play an 11 point game when it's later in the evening to 'save time'...no thank you, we'd prefer to play the full game. I will state that if this were 2-3 years ago, Keva would have received a 4-star rating. read more

The outdoor sand volleyball courts are nice, and there is an outdoor bar area for spectators, celebrating a win, or drowning your sorrows after a loss. There is also a playground right there which is nice for people that bring their kids along. The outdoor soccer field looks nice, but they don't have a scoreboard, so you can't tell how much time is left in the game or keep track of the score. The facility seems well kept, and the staff has been very nice. If you have a serious team and are competitive, Keva is a great place to play sports. If you are looking for something more laid back and social, there are plenty of nice bar leagues around which may be a better fit. read more

I've been bringing the kids to the open gyms here for a while. It's a wonderful way to let little ones run around during the cold months. Unfortunately recently I've been really unimpressed with the amount of equipment they have been taking out for the open gyms. It hasn't been much at all! It's very disappointing to get there, pay for the open gym, then see the field just has a few balls and balloons out there for all the kids to try and share. Hope it turns around soon! read more

My wife and I have played in the volleyball leagues (sand and indoor) and our kids do some of the kids programming. Facility is very nice and great atmosphere. Instructors have all been really nice and referees do there best, but very nice. :) Only reason I have it 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the high costs. As someone else said in their review, it is more expensive and sessions are shorter. But overall, very good. read more

This fabulous place has been a go-to for my kids and I for years. They have drop-in playtime during the week for a few hours and it's a great way for the kiddos to burn off some energy (especially when it is below zero outside!). For drop-in play, they put toys and sports props in one of the soccer fields. There's a lot of space for the kids to explore and play while you can still keep your eye on them. Keva also has an indoor playground that my kids seem to enjoy. I've recently enrolled my youngest in the early sports multi-sport class and I've been very impressed. Not only do we get to try each sport, but he is exhausted at the end. read more

- Too expensive (over $100/person for EIGHT GAMES indoor) - Too late - no responsible human can play soccer at 10, 1030, 11 PM at night and function the next day at work - Impossible to reschedule - No matter what day you sign up for, it's guaranteed you will get scheduled at least one game a session on the day you didn't sign up for (I signed up for Monday and somehow have 2 games on a Sunday) - They won't spend the money on decent balls even though we pay $15 membership fee...which is never explained what that's going for - They sign up too many teams so schedules absolutely suck - Oftentimes games start late, clock doesn't stop appropriately, refs aren't always paying attention, rules are never consistent across refs, etc. Bottom line - Too expensive, terrible times, never on time, squeeze every penny out of you. We are switching to Reddan - WAY cheaper and games are guaranteed between 6-8 PM...you know, reasonable hours. read more

The facility is nice, but the scheduling isn't the greatest! The soccer team that I play on has 3, 10:30pm games this session alone. We've had a few games at that time throughout my time playing there, even upon multiple complaints and request to not schedule games at that time. If it wasn't for this, I'd love to continue playing there, but we've decided to move our team to a different location to play from here on out! read more

keva is a large sports complex with indoor and outdoor soccer, volleyball and basketball courts. it is hands down the nicest facility i've played volleyball at in the madison area. it would get more stars from me if it weren't for a few things: 1. their leagues are much more expensive than others in the area (and the seasons are shorter as well). pooley's and mscr don't have the same facilities, but their seasons are longer. 2. it's in the middle of nowhere. the location is only convenient if you live in Middleton or on the far west side. driving there from anywhere else suuuucks, especially in the winter. 3. it is always cold in there. if they're going to charge what they do for leagues, the least they could do is turn the heat up a bit, or do something with their insulation. read more

I'll preface that I've been playing indoor soccer in Madison for over 20 years, and I've had enough of Keva. Pros: -the fields are in good condition -they sell beer Cons: -they will milk you for every dollar they can. -charging $1100 for an 8 game indoor soccer session -league fees will go up every session, without question -charge every player $15 for an annual membership -games always start late, and they'll start the clock early to try and get back on schedule when we paid for a FULL game -game clocks often don't work, refs have no idea how to use them -rarely have decent balls to use, one went on to the roof and they had no replacement -instead of having equipment, they spend our huge league fees on building an outdoor bar... -if a game is cancelled, no refunds, and they do not try to reschedule, you have to push -late games, late games, late games...we've had 3-4 games after 9pm, even 11pm -we had a ref literally walk off the field and quit because he couldn't control the game....that's HIS JOB -we sign up for a Sunday session, and get a game on Saturday at 9pm.... All in all Keva is money hungry and doesn't care about the customers playing in the leagues. They know they have the market cornered for indoor soccer and 7v7 outdoor but they'll soon find people are switching to other places because of their terrible customer service and greed. Reddan has outdoor soccer for way cheaper and better times. Volleyball at Keva is fine, but you'd be better off finding a bar to play at. Same with basketball. The courts are 50/50 on whether or not they'll be dusty and slippery. read more

This post is for the Summer Adult Rec league only. I was a part of a team here this Summer (2015). First, the league was pretty pricey in comparison to other places in the area. We felt we could deal with it, seeing the "amenities" we thought we would have. Boy, were we shocked at how badly we were treated. Keva does not penalized for forfeiting (which we were forfeited by other teams two times). In comparison to the other teams who played 10 - 11, we played only 8. We never once forfeited. The scheduler for the games will also not make the decision on resheduled games (due to weather) which caused issues with my teams schedule leaving us to losing players here and there. The referees are incredibly inconsistent. Some will call good fouls on teams (whether us or opponent) while others ignored fouls like lift calls. I wouldn't be so upset had we been fully informed of this lack of information, consistency, and high level of RUDE players. The rude players is not Keva's fault, but their coordinator should really investigate complaints which I have heard quite the number from other teams in the league. Nice place to take the kids to get out of the house when it's too cold outside. The kids join their rec teams when the seasons over for their clubs. They have a basketball court, volleyball, soccer, and an area for smaller children that aren't interested in playing on the courts or fields. They serve food here as well which is very convenient if you're here past dinner time and are too lazy to make dinner (guilty!!). The price of food is reasonable and the kids don't complain about the food (which is a plus, right?). Their bathrooms are older and well, I guess you can say the entire facility is older but for the membership price and what they have to offer for families that need to entertain children. I guess I can't complain about it. Parking is always available. There's never a time when we can't find somewhere to park and Tn facility is opened and staffed appropriately. I would recommend coming here for indoor soccer, volleyball and basketball camp. read more

As someone who is debatably the most unathletic individual on the east side of Madison, I was thoroughly impressed with how much fun I had at Keva sports. They have a variety of courts, are a great place to check out if you are interested in joining some sort of sports league, and have beer specials almost everyday of the week. read more

great place -- play in a regular soccer league and have attended several corporate events here. soccer league is great, well run, well refereed, and well scheduled. they also have a completely online system that shows schedules and stats which is very helpful. during the summer the outdoor fields are great with tons of seating and a great bar area for hanging out post games. read more

Nice facility (head and shoulders above their competitor Breakaway). My team played in both of these indoor places in town, and Keva is by far our first choice. Much better leagues and a lot more of them for adults so the level of competitiveness and age can be matched to your team. The down side is inconsistent refereeing (although still better than control freaks at Breakaway). read more

Horrible customer service! Be sure to read the fine-print in their agreements. We signed up for a summer volleyball league and we are very disappointed. Apart from the league fee, they charge an additional fee from each player. Don't get mislead by the low amount they show for the league membership since they end up charging a lot at the end ($ 15 per player on top of ~$ 310- $335, adds up!), and they do not communicate these additional charges clearly. Management is horrible in handling customer complaints and I felt they are extremely money minded and not concerned about providing a reasonable service to the customer. Madison has many other options for sports clubs and this will be the last time I am doing business with Keva. read more

This place has potential to be a great facility but poor management holds it back. First of all it is way to expensive for the product/service they are providing. For outdoor soccer you have to pay the session fee, ref fee each game and then a yearly membership fee just to play. If you do all that there is still a chance you will play at 10:30pm or later, and on a different day then what you signed up for. Not too mention you could go a month between scheduled games to then having 3 in one week. Then when you do get to play you will probably get a ref that doesn't know the rules of the game and seems to make things up as they go. Definitely not worth the $15 ref fee you are paying. Also there is no regard for the league you are signing up for. You could be in the lowest league that is suppose to be for players that have no soccer experience and you could be playing a bunch of kids in college with half that are probably playing in college. Definitely not a fun experience. Management do not seem to be opened to suggestions from their customers. Decisions seem to be made just to see how much money they can suck out of you. Even they children's programs are lacking. 3/4 of the times the coach is lecturing your kid instead of letting them play. Very hard for a 3/4 year old to enjoy something when they rarely get to play the sport. If you have other options I would look else where. read more
