We saw Mr Dixon about getting a simple quitclaim deed filed on some property owned by family members. We were charged an initial consult fee of $175 which was paid. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to move forward at that time. When we decided to move on it, he asked us back in for another consultation, which we were again charged the $175. We were assured at that time that it was a simple matter and that the only additional cost might be a small filing fee with the county. We then received a bill for the second consult fee, which was paid at the time. When we questioned the bill, his office staff was rude and we were told the bookkeeper would get back to us. No response. After the deed was filed, we received another bill for another $175 for filling out the deed form and itemized charges for mailings and filings and other work done. We were even charged for work gone on September 31, when September only has 30 days. In short, we were over charged (nearly $550 for a simple quitclaim deed) and under served. He took almost 2 months to file the deed. Never using him again. read more

On July 14, 2014 I had an appt. with Mr. Dixon to discuss monies loaned and not paid back. Upon meeting with him and giving him the information necessary; he said that he will send a letter and in most cases that will take care of it. Towards the end of our meeting I had asked "how much will all of this cost?" he thought for a minute and then stated that he gets paid by the hour and it is at a rate of $285/hr. He then proceeded to say the letter should take about half an hour and told me $175. I had assumed that included the letter, being I was with him barely 10 minutes discussing it all. At no time did he say the $175 was just the consultation. Of course to my surprise I get a bill of $149.94 for writing the letter in addition to the $175. So now we are up to $324.94. Being his rate is $285/hr. I'm beginning to believe I'm getting over charged. The letter was sent out. He had stated in the letter that the person had 10 days to respond. Waiting until July 30; I had called him to find out if he had heard anything. I was told he was on vacation. So I call again the first week of august to be put on hold for a bit; then your assistant gets back on to say you will call me back. You call back and I ask if you had heard anything. You simply say "no". I then ask what's next. At that point he proceeds to say that it means we would have to go to court and your retainer is $2500. Of course hearing that threw me off, being Mr Dixon had never mentioned before how much a retainer would be. Then to my surprise I get billed another $28.50 for the "telephone conference with client" which just consisted of Mr. Dixon telling me he hadn't heard anything. If you don't mind being charged for EVERYTHING and enjoy the fast talk and misconception of what you're being charged....he's your man. The best part is now he has sent me to collections for the amount he fooled me on....INCLUDING the ridiculous $28.50 phone call. read more
