Fellow paralegal here- not associated with this firm. My mother is, apparently, a client of theirs. They broke confidentiality laws by not being able to keep addresses straight and I actually learned about my mother's future estate planning and legal wishes via them sending her confidential paperwork to my address rather than her selected heir/POA/etc. Not only did they fail to safeguard their client's confidentiality/privacy, but the correspondence sent had a litany of spelling errors. Also, they sent only the signature page of a multipage document asking the designee to sign it in front of a notary. Essentially, they gave the designee no chance to review the contract they wanted them to sign. They also asked that the designee, at his/her own expense, pay for a notary. I am a paralegal and notary at my own firm- this simply is unethical and bad business. You are being paid for a service, you can work with them to get it notarized. You also absolutely do not have someone sign a notary page accepting a contract without even sending them the contract. I'm not sure who the attorney overseeing Gina Mann is but if I did, they would have a board complaint against them because an attorney is legally responsibly for the negligence and misdoings of their legal staff. Confidentiality and competence are basic tenants of the client-attorney privilege and relationship. Please don't let this firm take advantage of your elderly family. My stepmother passed away on May 1, 2019. She kindly provided for me, and she arranged for Millhorn Elder Law to administer the estate, thinking it would be fast, and her family members would receive the funds quickly. The estate was uncontested. Millhorn helped us at first, but after that, they dragged their feet for two years and four months. The usual time is two to four months. Trusts don't have to be put through probate, nor do mineral rights. They found $200 annual mineral rights in the estate and put it into Probate! Didn't know what they were doing. Then here's Covid, closing the courts. I received no communication from them at all. I had to call and ask what they were doing, which was usually nothing. Dana, a legal assistant, tried to pit my step sister and me against each other, blaming us for delay after delay. Do not trust your estate to these hacks. They may be good at helping you set up your will but they are horrible at helping when the family member passes away. My friend passed in September on 2023 and I am still trying to get them to send the final checks. I have called and emailed many times and get no response. This was a very simple trust to handle and it should never have taken this long to get it finalized. I recommend you find another law firm to handle your business. We also called the managing partner and they never called as well. So unprofessional from start to finish.
