When the…read morecounseling ended, I actually believed it had been helpful, because I had come to believe that our marital problems were almost entirely my fault. However, over the following year, I gradually realized that our marriage had not meaningfully improved despite the counseling. One of the strongest messages I took away from the sessions was that my family of origin and my relationship with my parents were the primary causes of our marital problems. This did not only lead me to feel guilty and blame myself; it also caused me to blame my family and my parents. The emotional impact became so significant that I eventually sought individual therapy to work through those feelings. I believe Estee genuinely wanted to help us, and I do not question her intentions. However, her approach was not effective for me and maybe someone else has similar background like me. If you come from an East Asian family and place great importance on your relationship with your parents and family of origin, I would encourage you to consider carefully whether this counseling approach is the right fit for you. Different therapists have different perspectives, and this particular approach was not a good match for my background or my needs. Finally, I respectfully ask that Estee not contact me regarding this review. I have worked hard to recover from the guilt, self-blame, and family-related conflict that I experienced after counseling, and I do not wish to revisit those feelings through further discussion.

Not only was he distant with me, he was distant from his brother as well, and generally had generally a bad attitude about life. Sean from Parenting Modern Teens worked with him one on one for 8 sessions. During that time my son came a long way. He is now opening up to me much more often and is even getting along with his brother better. His attitude is greatly improved. If you are having trouble with your teen, I would recommend giving Sean and his team a chance.

TL;DR: Dismissive, condescending, and self-glorifying…read more I recently booked a consultation for my teenage stepson. Sean was 12 minutes late to our appointment. When he finally did call, he offered no apology - or even acknowledgment - for his tardiness. During our 11-min call, Sean displayed no curiosity about my stepson or our family. He never asked about my husband (the father), the biological mother, nor much about my son himself. Instead, he fixated on "screen addiction," using it both as a reason my son couldn't be helped (odd, since it's a service he advertises) and as an excuse to promote his book on the subject. While our conversation was brief, Sean still managed to plug his book, his podcast, and his social media. Overall, Sean seems to be more interested in building his "brand" than in actually helping teenagers. Tellingly, Sean was dismissive of traditional therapy - presumably because he has no relevant credentials. He also seemed incensed that I was evaluating therapists / coaches for my son to ensure the right fit. All this taken together with a previous one-star review (and his respective rebuttal), I feel more even more certain about the importance of this step. I expect a similar dismissive rebuttal: that "it wasn't the right match" or "the parents weren't invested." Reframing any negative feedback into a parenting failure, and deflecting from the lack of professionalism and expertise that this line of work demands.

Working with Emel has been one of the biggest breakthroughs in my healing journey. As soon as I…read moreread her website I knew that Emel understood many of my struggles at a deep level and that somatic healing work with her was what I needed. Seriously - just read her website and you'll understand, she gets it and has a uniquely effective approach! I have worked with so many practitioners on physical, mental, energetic, and nervous system healing, but I needed her somatic healing approach to connect the pieces and dive deeper to truly understand and break free from the pain, trauma, and patterns I was stuck in. Emel truly cares, is extremely empathetic, and works hard to understand the full picture and the root cause of issues. She made it easy to open up to her and to myself, allowing me to better understand myself, my patterns, and my triggers/reactions. Each session varies depending on my needs or desired focus, ranging from somatic healing, energy flow, and visualization work to more traditional talk therapy. The results of working with Emel were immediate and ongoing: relief from physical pain caused by stuck energy, emotions, or tension, as well as minimization of triggers, anxiety, depression, and other patterns I was stuck in. I cannot recommend working with Emel enough, regardless of what you are going through! Thank you Emel!

My partner and I were in search of a therapist and we met with several before making a choice. However, after the initial consultation, we did not need to interview with anyone else. My partner and I both felt that she was a perfect fit. Through several somatic techniques and practices, lifestyle changes were implemented in a positive way. We saw a change in our communication with each other and also with other people. I now regularly practice P.O.W.E.R (if you don't know this acronym...book your appointment with Emel) and mindfulness in all avenues of my life. Thank you Emel I will surely book again if your services are needed. :)

We joke about it all these years later, but coming back for those follow up sessions would be exactly what I needed and truthfully, what I was lacking in my life. Whitney embodies compassion, care, empathy, and love and provides the safety of allowing me to show up as I am on any given day ready to help me unpack whatever I bring her. I came to her at a point in my life when I had shattered as a person. She has been by my side through some incredibly challenging times and there isn't anyone else that I would want in my corner when life happens. Whitney is an incredible therapist. If you are looking for someone who will see you as you are, accept you as you are, and who will walk by your side as you navigate the triumphs and challenges life throws at you, she is the one you need. I think she's pretty amazing and am thankful for her every day.

I tried one avenue, but it just didn't work. So I went on a search for a different therapist. And that search went on day after day, hour after hour. I spoke to some, but nothing ever felt like it was the right fit. Until one day, when I was feeling defeated, I stumbled upon Whitney. I took a look at her website and read her reviews and felt hopeful for the first time in days. From the moment I first spoke to Whitney, I knew she was the one to help me. Two years later, and I can say with absolute certainty that choosing Whitney to be my therapist was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Whitney is compassionate, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. She knows how to create a warm, comfortable and supportive environment where you feel safe to tell her all your thoughts and feelings. She's patient and kind, and never gives up on finding ways to help you. She has been such a positive light in my life, and has helped me overcome so much. While I'm still a work in progress, it's all thanks to Whitney that I have made it this far. And that is why I recommend and will always recommend Whitney. If you're looking for someone to help you get back onto the path to happiness, you've found her.
