I've been seeing Dr. Green at Lawrence Family Vision since I moved back to Lawrence in 2009. Four…read moreyears and two new prescriptions later, I'm still thrilled with the care I receive there. I usually show up a few minutes early for doctor appointments, and I have always been taken in to see Dr. Green right on time. Since I've usually got better things to do than sit in a waiting room (who doesn't?), I really appreciate the staff's promptness in getting my appointment going on schedule and making sure I'm in and out in a timely fashion. Dr. Green is a fantastic doctor and just a really nice person in general. She is always very professional but also very friendly and personable during my visits. She takes the time to explain what she's doing and never minds answering the questions I ask about what the different procedures measure and how they help her take care of my eyes. She's also very patient. You know that test they do where they have the lenses that they flip back and forth, and they say something along the lines of, "Which is better: one or two? Three or four?" I'm always afraid I'm going to get that test wrong, like I'm sitting for an exam and being graded on whether or not I give the right answers. (I totally get that this isn't how the test works, but I'm still always paranoid about it.) Consequently, I end up asking her to flip back and forth a couple of times on each one to make sure I'm getting it right. She never acts like I'm anywhere near as ridiculous as I know I am. The clinic also has a really nice selection of frames with lots of lens options, from featherweight scratch-resistant plastics with anti-glare coatings to special solar-activated darkening coatings that turn regular glasses into sunglasses when you're outside. I've never had a problem finding a pair that will both look great on me and fit all my needs. All in all, the staff and Dr. Green have made my visits a really pleasant experience, so much so that I actually look forward to my yearly eye exams with them. Now, if only I could find a dentist that makes me feel the same way!

Parking lot had one customer car in that I could see, but the person on the phone said there were four people ahead of me. Really? you couldn't accommodate one more, or get me in before 30 minutes? You really can't expect customers to put up with this nonsense, especially when many people have had their vaccinations (I have had mine). This is the second time I have had this experience here. I have been coming to LFV for over 20 years, but I am done with being treated like I work for you, rather than the other way around.

Mistakenly (?) charged me a $50 copay for a fully insurance-covered eye exam. Agreed to refund, but…read morehave not done so, now more than two weeks. Very unprofessional. (I'll edit this if I get my refund!) EDIT: I finally received my refund, a month later. I should say that the optometrist was great; it's the "office experience" that is really wanting. (Changing my rating to two stars.)

By far the most incompetent staff that I have ever encountered at any business in my entire life…read more DO. NOT. GO HERE! First off, I very rarely take the time write bad reviews. I am not some "Karen" who goes around searching for things to get offended at. I have simply had so many consistently terrible experiences as a visitor here that I want to warn you so I can spare you the agony of dealing with these people. Without fail, every time I've come here, the staff has made some sort of MAJOR mistake that has inconvenienced me, wasted my time, caused me frustration, etc. Here is just a sampling of some choice highlights: 1) They ordered me the completely wrong contact lens prescription. (Then when I call to tell them about this major mistake, instead of profusely apologizing for the embarrassing mistake like you might expect, the lady on the phone instead rudely argues with me, and tells me that I'm wrong, that I don't know what I'm talking about, and that that is indeed the correct prescription. So I was only even able to finally get around to getting the correct prescription ordered after I had to keep arguing with her about the matter until she finally put someone on the phone who cared enough to look into it more carefully. Not exactly the ideal customer service experience.) 2) They gave me the wrong "lookup code" (or whatever it's called) for a pair of glasses I liked, so I could reference it later and buy them. Instead when I looked it up online, the code they gave me was for a totally different pair of glasses. 3) After my last visit, I decided to switch to a different contact brand after discussing some eye issues I was having with the doctor. The staff at the front, when they were going to order my year's supply of contacts, was about to order the wrong brand that the doctor and I had just agreed to switch away from -- and it was only because I double-checked what brand they were ordering that I caught the mistake and didn't get stuck with a year's supply of the wrong contacts that I didn't want. 4) The previous time I had ordered contacts through them.... the contacts just never even arrived. Not sure if they got lost in transit, if they never got ordered to begin with, no clue -- but I had to get them re-ordered after several weeks of waiting. 5) After they screwed up, ordered the wrong contact prescription, then re-ordered the correct one, I called to confirm if they were there or not, they put me on hold, said they'd check, then returned and said "Nope they're not in yet." Which was strange because I was set up to get shipping tracking notifications for those contacts, and I had an email right in front of me which said they had arrived 4 days ago. I let her know about this, she checked again, and the contact lenses somehow magically appeared in front of her after she had just told me they weren't there. 6) As a bonus, one of their employees who works in the key customer-facing position (ie the lady at the desk, answering the phones, etc) is consistently very rude as well. She'll be rude on the phone, she'll be rude in person, she'll give pushback, she'll have an attitude and clearly seem annoyed with her tone and her body language when you're just asking basic questions -- it makes you want to just *run away from this place* to avoid having to deal with her. She was even loudly badmouthing some of the other customers to her coworkers while I was browsing glasses like 8 feet away and could clearly hear what she was saying -- LOL. Every single visit, without fail, the staff here will screw something up, and they'll leave you feeling frustrated. That has been my experience every single time I have come here -- and I could not more strongly recommend that you avoid this place.

I was told that it should take about 7 to 10 days and might be a few more added in just in case due to the holiday. Well I called 2 weeks after and they did not have an update on them but said they should be in in the next day or so. So I waited more. Well to make a very long story short. I got the following excuses from the staff. 1. There was a problem with the Tenting machine for the transitions 2. The lenses kept breaking 3. The Crizal lenses would / could not take the brown color I have on my transitions. 4. They were in QC and should be there in a few days 5. Call your Insurance Provider and have them look So after being angry about this, I called VSP and told them the situation. From VSP (which at this point was the only one that actually found out some information that was helpful). Called the manufacturer and first he manufacturer that is used (Sutherlin Optical) and they said they were in QC, then the next time VSP called the next day they said they shipped them out in November (lie), then finally said they had to ship them to a specialty lab. I feel like it's ridiculous that it takes 36 days to get a simple pair or glasses made by a local Optical lab. The worst part of it is that the Staff at C&C was unwilling to do anything to find out what was taking so long. At the end I got told on the phone that they were calling everyday about them (which again in my opinion is another lie). The Staff failed to call back as promised. All-in-all this fiasco took about 36 days to complete. I never received an apology or sorry about anything. No restitution, At this point, I will keep my Dr with C&C Doctor Brent, but take my business for glasses somewhere else.

OK, so maybe this is just a current theme for me (having *anyone's* hands near my person), but it is what it is and what it is, is...pure neuroses! From start to finish, my experience at Crandon & Crandon was as good as it could possibly get for a bundle of nerves like me. The front desk staff were more than merely pleasant. Dr. Crandon (husband to the other Dr. Crandon) was a friendly guy who put me at ease, well, if not "at ease" then the closest thing you could get (until he started in with the torturous lights shining in my eyes, but there was nothing he could do to make that any less uncomfortable for me). Getting a new pair of frames here was a fun experience. They have dozens of varieties from Prada to Ray Bans and all reasonably priced. You can take your time if you're extremely picky (guess who?). Today I went back to pick up my hot new peepers and the ladies who presented me with them (and made sure they fit perfectly), also fixed my D&G sunglasses with woefully wrecked hinges for *free*!
