Always open for new places to spend our midday break at, a coworker and I decided to have lunch at Kev's Kitchen today. Let's start with the most important fact first: It has been a pleasurable experience and the food tasted delicious!
Kev's Kitchen is primarily a cooking school that's also a restaurant during lunchtime on weekdays. The place is designed in some kind of retro-industrial style and while I personally like it, it might not fit everybody's taste. Due to the dual-use the kitchen area is open and airy. It's fun to watch the chefs preparing your meal.
The menu is short but sufficient for a quick lunch. Today's menu included a 3- (or optionally 2-) course "Business Lunch", various à la card pasta dishes and salads as well as the usual selection of sodas, bears and other drinks. I chose the 2-course lunch option with a main dish and a desert. The main dish was a perfectly grilled lamb filet with mashed lentils and snow peas. While the mashed lentils themselves tasted a little flat, the combination of all ingredients made for a nice dish. The desert was a passion fruit creme on a layer of caramelised sugar, topped with some blackberries. It was very tasty, fruity with a soft creamy texture.
We ended the meal with an espresso and then left completely satisfied after tipping the attentive and fast service generously. I'll definitely add Lev's Kitchen to my list of go-to places for a nice lunch. read more
