It was my first time playing the VR games and I wasn't very good but started to get the hang of it.

Deep Dive--"Atlantis Rising" Provides a Watery Challenge!…read more Hello, everyone! Christian Krenek, the Dauphin d'Escape Rooms, is back with another review! I first heard that PanIQ was opening a location in Boston back in September of 2021, and gathered some friends (all escape room and puzzling pros!) to head there in March of '22 for my birthday (and 35th room total!). We chose "Atlantis Rising," a deep-sea adventure. Your goal is twofold: make your way into the sunken city of Atlantis, and then recover whatever treasure you can find inside. The room design is top-notch, especially because the space is relatively small. The Atlantis section is particularly well-done, with mood lighting and mysterious underwater sounds. Our group did have a slight problem seeing some of the effects, which is intentional (it's murky in the sea!). It might help to bring along a flashlight! The best part of any escape room, though, is the puzzles, and PanIQ did NOT disappoint on that front. I was particularly impressed by the number of tactile puzzles in the room--lots of hands-on and interactive challenges. PanIQ also does a good job of making sure that there multiple puzzles to work on at once, thus avoiding bottlenecks and getting people stuck. It CAN be overwhelming--the room is a full sensory experience--but there are plenty of opportunities for breaks if you need them! My only advice to potential players: go with a small group. We had six adults ranging in size from small to large, and the room only holds seven--and speaking frankly, at times we felt the crunch! :p I think this room would be ideal for a group of three or four players, but we still had a blast with six, so don't let that discourage you. If you DO go with a big group, though, be ready to split up and tackle multiple challenges! All in all, our trip to the depths was a success (we escaped with 15 minutes to spare--that's 29 wins, 6 losses for me!), and we're excited to return to PanIQ to see what their remaining three games have in store. Until then, have fun, everyone!

Probably my one of my least favorite escape room of the many Ive done…read more We did The Red Wire room, ranked as medium difficulty but is definitely intermediate. Game master gave us hints over the loud speaker unprompted/unasked and spoiled the game multiple times for us. Like dude, just give us a second. An incredibly important unlock is done by pulling on the decor, which we were instructed not to do, so he had to tell us to do it. The climatic end puzzle didn't work because the technology didn't work. We figured it out, did it right but it didn't say it was correct. So we spent the next almost 10 minutes trying to figure it out a different way only to be told that we just needed to do it slower and we were correct. Like what?? To improve this room: 1. Provide paper (needed to keep track of numbers, if you did this room you know exactly what I mean) 2. Label it as intermediate the puzzle alone is reason enough but oh my god- I wouldn't spoil it because that's rude but there were multiple times that it was INSANE like the "" puzzle was actually the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. 3. Fix the tech or at least provide the needed info: If a code needs to be typed in slowly, say that. One of the code input screens you barely had the ability of a touch screen so you had to slam your finger into it. 4. If your room is so dysfunctional that your game master is forced to give unprompted hints, that's a sign to get back to the drawing board. What I will say is this game had two very impressive technical aspects, sadly they were part of two extremely difficult puzzles but still, impressive. Overall, for the hefty price and very high ratings this place has, we were extremely disappointed and honestly angry. We have done around 12 escape rooms as a group and have never been through one so dysfunctional and disjointed, with a Game Master who actively ruined our game but was also forced too at some points due to the room's issues. Thank god I brought some good friends so at least the company was enjoyable. Refund wanted for sure.

We did "The Heist" (which I think is one of their easier rooms) with a group of 8 people--7 adults and one kiddo. The rooms themselves are really elaborate and I was surprised by how advanced all the tech was. There were so many different kinds of creative puzzles, and they were challenging enough to keep us on our toes but not so difficult that it got frustrating. You get as many hints as you need, with no penalty for using them. Your guide watches via camera and jumps in to help as needed, but we only ended up needing one minor hint the whole time. We finished in about 45 minutes of the available hour. I think a big part of that was having a bunch of grown ups in the room, it might be difficult for an all-kid crew, but maybe that's where the hints come in! I noticed that on the website some of the rooms (particularly during busy times) are "Shared" games, so if you don't want to be paired with strangers, make sure you fill your whole game! The person running our game was so nice (I think his name is Anthony!), making sure we understood how everything worked and joking around with us before and after we finished. All in all we had a great time, I would 100% come back!

I had never been here before but took my son with two friends for an informal birthday celebration…read more All three kids are neurodivergent. First, I want to say make a reservation for one of their interactive game room on their site before your visit. I made a reservation for a 60 and a 30 minute game for a total of a 90 minute experience. My son chose Party Box and The Floor is Lava. When you arrive, the person checks you in and you wear a head piece and move your entire body to solve physical challenges and puzzles. All three walls are interactive. Because the instructions go rather fast, I stayed in the room and helped the kids with instructions. Party box was like 10 different games and puzzles that were appropriately challenging for the 12 year olds in the room. They had to be aware of their bodies in relation to their character on the screen. The Floor is Lava is like the television show but more achievable. Bottom line: This is a really fun place and the games are physical virtual reality experiences that I would prefer over sitting at home with video games. Families can have a really great time and this would be a great place for a date! The young lady who was working that day was running the place single-handedly. There was a fire drill while we were there and we had to exit and wait for the mall to let us back in. I think her name was Chanel, and she was a picture of calm. When she let us back in, all the servers had to be restarted and this delayed us about 45 minutes. Despite everyone being in this woman's space and asking questions, she stayed pleasant and poised. She deserves some recognition for that. It was a lot to manage so I stayed out of her hair. But other people were not as gracious and this was totally out of her control. When a game is over, the room records a fun TikTok style video for your party. I would come back often. The cost for 90 minutes was about $50 a person but that is comparable to other gamebox places and I like the physical aspects of the space. My neurodivergent children enjoyed the experience immensely, even with the Fire Drill.

My two boys just celebrated their birthday party here, and couldn't have asked for a better venue…read more Some of our guests arrived earlier than the start time of our party and the staff didn't miss a beat bringing us to the event space to entertain our guests. The back party space was decorated beautifully with a fun Happy Birthday theme. They were very "hands off" and aside from getting the Squid Games started in 2 of the boxes, they simply left us alone until we asked for more plates for the cake. Fun entertainment for both young and old. Prior to their party, we came here on a separate visit to do a FREE demo of Squid Game, which allows you to try out a game for approximately 15 minutes. We ended up having so much fun that we committed to the full hour of gameplay. We can't wait to come back and try out some of their other games like Psychedelic Mansion, The Floor is Lava, Angry Birds, and their latest edition, BATMAN!
