I ordered checks around 4 months ago. Showed up asking for them whoever changed my account never put in for them. I had told them I'd no longer need them and to cancel it. They still placed the order so after getting a 40 something dollar charge for checks I asked to cancel I contacted KeyBank. I was informed it's out of there hands because they use a third party to get the checks they gave me a number to contact needless to say that got me no where. The lack of transparency is sad been with KeyBank for 14 years and I think after this I will be transferring out read more

They will lie to you about the criteria required to do maintainence-fee free banking, help themselves to a monthly maintenance fee without regard to anything, and won't do anything to even attempt to retain your business. The do not care...their sneaky fees are all-important to them. You are not seen as a person. You are not seen as a valued customer. You are seen as a walking, talking ATM. Avoid this "bank" at all costs. I have since pulled out every cent from this bank and now bank with an institution that values my business and treats me like a valued customer. read more

They asked me for paperwork which I provided and I had to bring my paperwork to the bank more than once because they misplaced it. There was miscommunication between the Hudson branch and the loan department in Albany. The whole process was very frustrating.

I imagine them looking at their telephones in wonder and saying, "I can't get over how amazing this thing is!" Picking up a ballpoint pen, turning it over and over in their hands and demanding of their coworkers, "Where's the feather?? Where's the inkwell??" Add to this that their online "service" representative (singular), with the exception of the operator who's perfectly pleasant but can't actually help you with your banking issues, is terse and rude, delivering information and then hanging up before you have a chance to respond, and you have a bank that will leave you wondering how it is that they manage to stay in business. We were in need of a notary on a Saturday, and the MHVFCU was the first bank of five that we called that had a real human being answer the phone (off to a good start). They had a notary available (and were open til 2 pm on Saturdays), and not only is the notary's services free for members, but it's also free for non-members! If you're keeping track, that means it's free for everybody. We walked in and the friendly tellers let us know we'd be waiting for Linda in the back, but to help ourselves to a seat and a cup of coffee. For the record, that's nicer than most of my relatives treat me. We waited for a few minutes, and then Linda turned out to be even nicer than the other employees, as well as the branch manager and probably in the top three notaries I've dealt with in my lifetime. You know what? She's #1! I just decided. The only downside of MHVFCU is that I am a bit frightened of the other clientele. It was 8 degrees outside, and my brother and I were the only non-employee males that were wearing full length pants. Sure it was only two other guys, but as we all know, nothing screams mental instability more than being inappropriately dressed for the weather.
