Although it has been 13 years since I graduated from this school, I hope this review is still somewhat relevant and helpful. I had transferred to this school froom Hamilton Disston public school. That gives St Josaphat 3 stars right off the bat. The teachers were always helpful and seemed to genuinely care about their students' progress. There was no bullying or fighting I can remember among any students in the 6 years I was there. One of my favorite parts, and what may also be a big selling point for parents considering sending their children here, is the inclusion of the Ukrainian language in the curriculum. I can't speak for other students, but not only did I feel this gave me a solid foundation for learning other languages later on, but I also found it very interesting as a young student. Also included are lessons on Ukrainian history and culture, including the making of traditional Easter eggs and other crafts. Aside from that, the normal curriculum was more than adequate from what I remember, although I can't fairly compare them to public schools due to lack of experience. I can say the teachers were very qualified - they knew what they were talking about (not "book-teaching") and encouraged class participation. The negatives: If you do not want our child to learn Catholic theology, this school is not for you (although the hard-core nuns have gone by now) The first Friday of every month we had mass in the chapel in the basement. It is a popular misconception that the coldest place in the continental United States is International Falls, Minnesota. This distinction belongs to the St Josaphat school chapel. Combine that with sitting on METAL chairs, it was as if they were really trying to make you think of your sins. Towards the end, there seemed to be high teacher turnover. Several teachers would be different year to year. Not sure if this is still the case. read more

This school is absolutely horrible! My child told me to leave a review and everything said was told to me by her and her friends. The grading system is inaccurate. Most teachers are disrespectful and unkind. The school water fountains are always either not working, the water is warm, and/or have a dirty filter. For tests, most of the questions are not provided for studying beforehand/on the study guide. The students are always using foul language, hitting each other, talking inappropriately, bullying each other, or genuinely not paying attention in class. The teachers only worry about their pay and not for the students sake of education. The teachers also do not reach out to parents as much as I'd appreciate. There are many bad teachers. For example, Mrs. Roth. She is unkind towards students and always yelling and touching them. She is also extremely disrespectful in general. Mrs. Fox (I think that is her name) yells a lot at her students and is not very respectful. Mrs. Ruppert does not properly educate her students. Mrs. Gale is most of the time rude. The school lunch is very horrible. When they come home from school on half days and bring a to-go lunch, it is overly disgusting. Even though they think they are doing good with the fruit cups/juice and cranberries, the food they make is why child obesity increases (sorry not sorry!!). The school air conditioning/heating is always to sometimes broken or not working well. There are probably more reasons but that's all I was told by my daughter and her friends during a 45 minute car trip. read more

It's was a terrible experience, teachers don't have eyes, kids getting insulted and bullied, chat is this fr, like boys getting hurt, school lunch was awful, like I'm finna blame micheal Obama for this food it's her fault. Every single day was terror, the test was getting harder, the kids became stupider, and teacher ears are deaf , do you teachers not hear what people say, stop the glaze and ride on someone's else meat. Not worth sending your child. If I could rate zero I would. Teacher don't care principle is lost This school need to be closed down No type of organization. There grading system is ridiculous. There no type of help for children who are failing. The staff is very unprofessional. All the Teachers who cared gave there all have quit with in the year. During the pandemic many children failed ! This is such a horrible place to send your child , none of the students has a voice , the staff is rudely taught , the school is draining , and the staff are very disrespectful. The students here are drained from so much work , they treat the students horribly , and they have no room to speak up about how they feel without it being called disrespectfu. For an example Ms. roth , very disrespectful , has something against certain students , she would yell for no reason , run over teachers when her position is an aid , she laughs when students gets in trouble like how old are you ?? My son at age 6 was placed in a charter school Keystone charter school for kindergarden in Philadelphia he attended daily thru online virtual learning both me and mom participated daily thru the pandemic with him in his kindergarden only too be left behind we reside in philadelphia and there is inequality I understand charter schools adheres to strict requirements to pass a child from kindergarden but due to the pandemic and the effects on my childs mental health but also mine the school wether charter school or not should hold some accountability either thru offering programs for childeren left behind or some type of counseling to evaluate childrens mental health from the pandemic online virtual experience. I want advise on what I can do as I am actively seeking someone to give my son a mental evaulation as the school doesent want to do anything to remedy the situation and was told since they have nothing to do with public school district of philadelphia they cant be held accountable. read more
