The setting is perfection: nestled at the base of the Gore Range with postcard-worthy views at every hole. Conditions: top-notch. Smooth greens, tight fairways, and the layout rewards smart play without being brutal. It is far more polished than most munis. Slightly sad fact? The course runs beside I-70, so mountain serenity comes with a symphony of highway noise. Other private courses in the region do too, but are set back further so the decibel level is lower or insignificant. This location nevertheless is a must-play if you're anywhere near Vail.

Only snafu for me was the club rental. They have nice new Calloway rental sets. They asked if I wanted senior clubs and I said yes. Unfortunately the senior clubs were some beat up old Titleists so stay away from those. The rangers did keep play moving which I greatly appreciated. Some people spend too much time and psychic energy bonding with their golf balls and slow down play. You will definitely lose a few balls on this course so just expect it, live with it and keep moving. With the thick vegetation and the meandering creek these balls are gone forever so just let them go. II'd play here again anytime!

Lots of elevation changes. I rented clubs as well and they were very nice (Taylormade). Beer cart lady was on the course. She offered snacks, beers, soft drinks, and liquor. I wish I could play golf on courses like this all the time. I typically play up at Cape Royale on Lake Livingston. No comparison. If you get a chance, spend the money and play golf in Colorado during the summer. All the courses I passed on 71 in the many ski resort towns looked very nice.

Multiple access points to this well maintained trail. You can start by the busy marina or other off road parking lots along the path. Once you pass the dam, you bike briefly along with traffic in a shoulder, turned into a bright red bike lane. After which, the best is to be had. You enter into a park setting and you forget the adjacent road as it is obscured by trees. Not full five stars because I don't know where it ends. After a certain point, the paint used to define bike lanes disappear and turns into a shoulder of a main road. I was told you can continue onto Fiske. Nearby is a path for the old reservoir.
