Greens were way too slow for the price. Great views on a few holes though. For better views away from I-70/HW6, and fast greens; I'd recommend playing Breckenridge Golf Club over Vail Golf Club.

    Some fun and challenging holes.

Fantastic conditions and staff were super friendly. Greens were true and fairly quick. Course layout is challenged by the space they were able to use when building it but still good. Pace of play was spot on and the place clocks all over the course so when you come to one you should see your starting time. I've never seen that on a golf course before. Biggest drawback for me was how close it is to the freeway and the non-stop noise of cars and trucks.

The BEST view in Vail! Enjoy a delightful lunch on the patio surrounded by beautiful flowers and a gorgeous view of the Gore Range. You really can't go wrong. The philly cheesesteak is a favorite. My personal favorite is the lobster roll A great spot for a lunch before golf or afternoon drinks with a view! Don't golf? Not a problem! My favorite spot in Vail for lunch!

Grilled fish tacos, altered to my son's liking (minus avocado and sauce)...he devoured them!!

My sons loved their lunches here! The grilled fish tacos were the biggest hit, modified for a 9-year olds taste! The grilled cheese and hamburger were also good. We were here during a World Cup match and the excitement was brimming over! Also, since we biked over we were very appreciative of Jesse who fixed our rental bike! One of my sons fell and the chain fell off his bike, not only did Jesse offer assistance with their first aid kit but he helped fix the bike too! Thanks, Jesse!! We will be back next visit for the great food, excellent golf staff, and hopefully to play! We didn't play this visit due to 11 greens shut down because of recovery from the winter.

Only snafu for me was the club rental. They have nice new Calloway rental sets. They asked if I wanted senior clubs and I said yes. Unfortunately the senior clubs were some beat up old Titleists so stay away from those. The rangers did keep play moving which I greatly appreciated. Some people spend too much time and psychic energy bonding with their golf balls and slow down play. You will definitely lose a few balls on this course so just expect it, live with it and keep moving. With the thick vegetation and the meandering creek these balls are gone forever so just let them go. II'd play here again anytime!

So since the twilight was only $100, I decided to fork over the cash and enjoy a round on a beautiful course tucked into the mountains. Course was kept up very well. The views were amazing. Lots of elevation changes. I rented clubs as well and they were very nice (Taylormade). Beer cart lady was on the course. She offered snacks, beers, soft drinks, and liquor. I wish I could play golf on courses like this all the time. I typically play up at Cape Royale on Lake Livingston. No comparison. If you get a chance, spend the money and play golf in Colorado during the summer. All the courses I passed on 71 in the many ski resort towns looked very nice.

We did a family trip up to the mountains for a couple of days and on our way back home, we stopped by the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens because I knew my mother in-law loved flowers and I thought she would enjoy it here. We parked in the parking lot next to the big open field. Unfortunately there was an event that day and we had to pay I think $10 (can't remember the exact amount). I guess it evened out since the garden is free? Anywho, the garden was a short walk from the parking lot. It's named after the former first lady who preferred Vail as their vacation spot and helped the community flourish to what it is today. There's signage throughout the garden to read about Betty Ford, the plants, and wild life. It's a small garden, but there are plants from all over the world and we enjoyed strolling through the various paths. My mother in-law enjoyed it as well, so mission accomplished! If you're in the area and love plants and flowers, it's worth a quick stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

It was so peaceful and enchanting to walk around the garden. In addition to plants and flowers, we also saw lots of butterflies and hummingbirds.
