Love this place! Something for everyone! If they don't have what you're looking for they will try to find it and their prices are fair.

I love stopping into Freedom House Antiques. John and Patrick have been in business for well over…read more25 years and their collections, expertise, and extensive inventory is a reflection of their combined years of experience and passion for antiques. They do a wonderful job curating the shop in the old barn. As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel as though you are treasure hunting in a real antique treasure trove. Everything from the old barn smell (in a good way!) to the music makes you feel as though you have stumbled upon a treasure trove of artifacts from yesteryears. The last time I was up I spent spent a few hours sitting cross legged on the floor looking through old photographs. I didn't realize how much time had past by and quickly realized that it was past the time they were supposed to close for the day. John and Patrick did not mind at all! They were so gracious and accommodating and told me not to rush because they were in no hurry. They also told me to feel free to give them a call them if I am ever in town and the shop appears closed as they would be happy to open up the barn if they are home.

Wonderful shop! The store is an old barn with two floors full of wonderful old items! Owners John…read moreand Patrick are very helpful and very friendly. They seem to specialize in old photos, ephemera, maps, and Christmas items but also have vintage kitchen things, old books, a great children's section full of old and vintage games and stuffed animals. Their hours are Wed-Sun from 10 am-4 pm, June through September. They are also open Saturdays 10-4 in May, early June, September, and October. Other times they are open by chance or appointment. My first stop in was after speaking to Patrick at Limington Meadows Antiques in Limington, Maine. He told me he ran a shop in Freedom, and shortly after that day I went to his shop for the first time. To get there, you have to drive through a lovely little village, the village of Freedom, New Hampshire. Absolutely beautiful area. When you get there, two barns (one small and one large) greet you with rooms full of cool stuff! Make sure to check out the smaller barn before you leave if it's open, because you wouldn't want to miss something interesting! Inside the big barn, there is a first floor and a slightly higher elevated second floor. The first floor has signs, posters, etc while the second has a few rooms. The first area, the big open room, has maps, old photos, ephemera, books, kitchen supplies and dishes. The second has books, photos, and other antiquities. The third is a huge room full of only Christmas items. Be sure to check it out, as it is a sight to see, and a wonderful one at that. The fourth room is a children's room full of old games, kids books, toys, and stuffed animals. Perfect for your little ones! Also, check out the ephemera selection in the back right of the room. It has postcards and posters and more! Next to that is the 'Bargain Stall,' where according to the sign, 'prices have been slashed and they will come down more' if you see something you like. It is guaranteed you will find something you like, or are at least intrigued by. I guarantee this shop will amaze you, and you will not regret stopping.

I stopped by Smith's antiques on a mid March sojourn to Cornish Maine for my daughter's birthday…read more Cornish is one of our favorite towns in Maine. "Quaint" does not even begin to do it justice. Unfortunately, after arriving, we found out that Smith's antiques was the only shop in town open as most of the others do not open until May. We ventured in and spent a long long time looking at what amounts to be an incredible collection of vintage and antique items. Slice of life items from old Maine homes. Glass milk bottles, ice cream boxes, dairy containers, grocery signs, old wall telephones, mirrors, pieces of furniture and almost any kind of bric-a-brac you can imagine. The incredible collection in this store makes it an almost historical museum like experience. It is truly a fascinating place to spend an hour or so looking through a window into the past. With that said, the prices seem somewhat random and can range wildly. A beautiful solid looking coat rack might be $150 while a cardboard sign for cheese could be $85. There really are no deals contained within but this might be the kind of place to find the exact piece a collector might be looking for. Definitely worth a stop if you happen to be meandering along Main Street in Cornish Maine.
