You know I just about had it with this radio station. They just let go one of the best radio hosts in Santa Clara County and I am not happy about it. I understand there are layoffs in the Bay Area and the US and radio is not immune to it. Seriously, the HR that work here are clowns that just washed away the appeal this radio station had 11 years ago. I am still listening only when I drive now because I need to be notified of all the events in the area and hear my favorite songs especially any breakup ones that are played. I would normally take more stars off but being broke provides me the benefit to retain 3. They do nice give aways which is why I am not switching to other radio stations aside from Tsingtao Radio 96.1 and some random talk show on AM740. Back in the day this radio station always gets me ready in the morning but now, it's just as syndicated show that doesn't allow radio listeners to call in. I would stop listening once I move out of the Bay Area. read more

I listen in the mornings at work through my iPhone. Love the show, but for the past month, there's been a disturbing and significant amount of dead air. Between segments, commercials or songs, it goes dead. it used to be for a minute or two. now it's like five to ten minutes of dead air, then repeats an ad or a song. it's very grating. read more

Too many complaints. The show and hosts are entertaining enough and Jose's background laugh-attacks are generally pretty amusing. The usual three personalities balance each other great and should, in my opinion, be individually relatable for most folks. Never heard Pope and Marla though, so cannot make that biased comparison. But all in all I tend to gravitate towards 106.5 in the mornings. read more

I am so VERY disappointed in the morning team change. This new show sounds like a canned and scripted show. All the voices in the background are annoying and distracting. They laugh at each other when it is not funny. Pope and Marla were current and funny. They connected with their listeners and community. I'm writing a review based on my experience winning movie passes from this radio station. I called in several occasions to give my movie reviews (on air) and as a thank you they rewarded me with free movie passes! All i had to do was go to the station and pick them up. I think it's a decent morning show with the content and subject matter brought up. It's painful to listen to the guy in the background constantly laughing like a stupid hyena for pretty much no reason. His constant laughter is so annoying that I have to change the station. Seriously, it's that bad. PLEASE REMOVE HIM (Jose) from the show entirely or you will lose even more listeners. read more

I loved this station before so I thought I'd give it a try but I seriously CAN NOT stand the annoying laugh in the background. I've listened to MIX 106.5 for the past seven years. It use to have a great morning show with resident personalities Pope & Marla that were witty, timely with current events, and an entertainment outlet I could share with my kids. A recent change in there morning show switched from Pope and Marla to Brook and Jubal. I have spent a week listening to the morning show with B&J. B&J's show relies heavily on highly scripted skits, pranks and segments that touch on subject matters intended to approach the limits of decency. Showcased features of the B&J's show includes things like 2nd Date, Phone Taps, Watcha doin in the Courthouse, Drunk Movie Reviews and the typical radio personality banter. Their sidekick, I think named Jose, functions to set the show pace by giggling a lot and making short outbursts like "Yeah," "Noooo," or "Come On." Spending a week with B&J has been difficult and their topics make cringe-worthy moments listening with kids. Even when the kids aren't around, the show is just unfunny. It is important to me that businesses support the communities where they operate. It is disappointing MIX 106.5 chose to switch from a gem program (P&M) that had connections rooted in our community to importing this B&J program from a different region. This transition is more then re-branding or re-programming, it is a paradigm shift in MIX 106.5 view of their role in our community. Shame on you MIX 106.5 that so blatantly and publicly turned against it's community. read more

OMG!!! I tuned into this station years ago when it was Bill and Marla. Then Pope and Marla. What the heck? It has gone to the waste side. I kept messing with the tuner, thinking that something had gone wrong with my tuner. Then, I did a little research and found that KEZR let the BEST of the BEST go! Now I can tune away, since I will not be listening to the "new" rubbish your putting out there. You can really hear the inexperience, plus there not even funny! (sounds like you have the 3 stooges, so you must have gotten 3 for the price of two?). Bring back POPE and MARLA! I've been a loyal listener of Marla's morning show for 17 years. What happened? I went on leave for a couple months and when I returned, Pope and Marla no longer work for the station! I need to look for a new radio station, as the current morning team is NOT a good replacement for Marla. She's really irreplaceable. read more

I like listening to this station because they are the only ones that play some alternative in the San Jose area. The only thing is they play a lot of the same songs over and over again. This would be a 3-star review if it weren't for the Bill and Marla (and producer Tim!) morning show. The Bill and Marla show really gets me up in the morning! They actually give their opinions on current matters regardless of what others say. One of the things I admire about this show is that they do a lot for the community and involve their listeners in helping out! They genuinely care about the people of the south bay and you know they are real people. read more

If I can give zero stars I absolutely will. I loved this radio station and grew up listening to Bill and Marla and then Pope and Marla. I always enjoyed how genuinely funny and interesting their conversations were. But now that it is the Brooke and Jubal show, it is absolutely cringe worthy to listen to. Who thinks it is funny to make prank calls to businesses and make fun of their employees living wage? When I drive home from a 12 hour night shift I want radio personalities who are genuinely upbeat who will keep me awake and entertained during my drive. read more

Agree with others, first off, I am not a huge fan of morning shows, I would rather just hear music most times, but if I do listen to someone speak, it better be worth it. B & J, AWFUL...It sounds like a burnout show, something that you would expect to hear on an old school station back in the day with hard rock genre. Don't listen enough to know the names of anyone but that guy that laughs nonstop, so irritating. I mean the show might be worth listening to if he wasn't doing that. It is like he is a high 14 year old boy. Not sure how ANYONE, could listen to that... I get you are trying to appeal to a different audience, but I think you went from mature working professionals, to adolescent, weed smoking kids...if that is what you were going for...you mastered it. read more

I've listened to 106.5 for about 9 years and I'm only writing this review because I can't stand the new ppl. If I could give it zero stars I would. I find myself just changing the station or just listing to Spotify at least the commercial ads are 100% better than those other ppl. Which btw I'd rather not even learn their names. Sorry 106.5 for the bad decision you made. I'll continue to follow Marla since Pope decided to move back to Riverside and hopefully she gets a new job on a new radio station. read more

Wow, only 4 reviews for this station? I'll say it....it's my favorite "music" station in the Bay Area. If you like top 40-type stuff but hate how those stations are saturated with repeats and commercials, this is your station. They do a good job of rotating through a pretty good number of songs from the last few years instead of just cranking the same 10 over and over. It seems like it would be a mediocre San Jose-based version of STAR 101.3, but it really isn't. I'm guessing there are real people behind this playlist. Maybe their ownership is different? Whatever the case may be, I hope this station stays the way it is for awhile. read more

Now they are replaced with new people, and I have to say, I have had to find new channel to listen to. I do not know if it is a person or a laugh track, but the incessant laughing in the back round is very annoying, and the guy cackles at everything, funny or not. Could not stand it any more. I moved to this area not too long ago hoping to find a good morning show, but this station is just god awful!! I tried to give this a few chances, but it's just painfully difficult to listen to. Replaced quality local morning show talent with cheaper syndicated drivel. There's a reason most of the 50 or so stations that syndicate this morning show are not in major metropolitan areas. I guess low ratings at little cost is better than high ratings that costs money. read more

I listened to Pope and Marla on my daily 1.5 hr morning commute to work. Out of nowhere they were replaced with a different morning show. I've tried to give them a chance but there is a guy in the group that laughs at everything and has such an annoying cackle that I have to change the station. I gave 3 stars because I still listen to 106.5 on my way home. read more

Could not agree more! The whole station is very good, but I really enjoy Bill & Marla. I like that they talk about themselves enough so that I feel like I actually know them. And they seem like fun people to know. I like the music too, but (and it sounds bad to say), sometimes I don't like them playing songs, because it seems like that gets in the way of what they (Bill & Marla, and the people on the phone) are talking about. read more

On my every weekday morning commute, this is the radio station I listen to every time for laughs. I love this radio station! Jeff Pope & Marla are the funniest people you can ever listen to make your mornings! They wake me up every time. The type of music this radio station plays is a mix of genres such as mainstream and oldies. Listen in the mornings from 6-9 AM to win tickets and prizes for different things! I've won many things on this radio station from concert tickets, prizes, money (ooooOOOOoooo), etc. I was super happy to win my Taylor Swift tickets calling in! I embarrassingly had to sing in order to win them but it was totally worth it... hahaha. The concert was super awesome. I recently just won tickets to the San Jose: The Nutcracker so I'm super stoked to see that! The prizes you win are usually pick-ups from the radio station which is located in San Jose Downtown. The workers there when you pick it up are super nice people too. If you're in the Bay Area, listen in and hopefully you'll like them and win something also! read more

The new show that 106.5 has seems to be trying way too hard. The guy in the back of the show with the consistent "cackle" has GOT to go. He's a crankster on coffee!!.....OMG, after 20 minutes if I didn't change the channel, my head was going to explode. The content is not bad...some funny bits, but again, most things seem very "forced".
