There was a flat screen with status of orders placed, and my name was on it with a status of 'complete'. There were pizza warming ovens accessible so first thought I was supposed to self-pick it up (like a delivery driver). But it was empty, so waited until I could get a teenagers attention. He got the pizza box from a warming oven, handed it over without much effort and we drove back 10 minutes to our hotel. The pizza was good, especially with the bottled Corona we had back in the room. The toppings of cupped pepperoni, Italian sausage, and canned pineapple was surprisingly generous with a decent amount of cheese, all covered right to the end of the crust. It was cut into squares, and I think it would tasted really good if eaten right out of the oven...so dining in might be the way to go here.

But it was, so decided to dine-in. I used the McDonald's app to place and pay for the order, entering the table number. Otherwise this location is automated, with 2 large kiosks taking orders. The food came out pretty fast in a takeout bag, with my name and table number being yelled out loudly (guess they don't do table delivery here, which is fine...though wish they would not offer it on the app in that case). My mood brighten greatly when I realized the large fries ($4.99) had been freshly cooked. The buy one, get one for $1 still applied here (if done on the app) so got two double cheeseburgers, one for $4.19 and the second for $1. They now have a mini McFlurry available, so got the OREO flavor for $2.99 (really hit the spot since the soft serve used was really good and we liked how the oreo cookie pieces were finely crushed), and added a large Diet Coke ($1.99). Pretty confident it will be the cheapest, filling meal we will get during our trip.

My wife quickly said, "It is a chicken bacon ranch salad, the meat is supposed to be warmed." The woman was physically annoyed and begin dumping the meat on to the sandwich paper she had next to her. She heated it up and then asked what dressing my wife wanted. She spread it over the veggies while the meat was heating. Finally she dumped the meat haphazardly on to the bowl taking no care at all. Put the lid on and went to ring us out. She placed the bowl in the bag and walked away. My wife then had to ask for a fork and was met with a, "Oh, yeah. Sorry." We understood it was right before closing but when we walked in they were serving a group of 3 which was eating in. I haven't looked at the other reviews but I'm pretty sure the employees attitudes are mostly what is affecting their rating. We own multiple businesses and know people can be picky. Given the time, we understand the employees were likely tired and ready to be done for the day. 10 minutes is still plenty of time to give good customer service and complete your other duties.

Or take it to go and bring it to the beach. This is a simple burger done perfectly. The beef is juicy and flavorful, the toppings are fresh, and the secret sauce absolutely makes it. The sauce has a slight kick to it, just perfection. Everything works together without trying to be overly fancy. My recommendation: get the double. The extra patty takes it to another level and is well worth it. The fries are hot and crispy and go great with the sauce. If you're a burger lover visiting Kauai, or just need to kau kau after a surf in Hanalei this spot should be on your list. Simple, delicious, and easily the best burger I had on the island. The staff is also extremely nice and full of aloha!

First - and most important- Happy Eats is in a new location. It's in the Walmart parking lot near…read moredowntown Lihue. It's at the far end of the parking lot, near the main road. Apple Maos doesn't know this and sent us to the old address on Rice Street (which is now full of construction equipment). There is no ambience, which in itself, makes it fun. Roasting chickens in a Walmart parking lot...for one of the best meals you will get! There's one large table which becomes communal if need be. And the staff couldn't be nicer - chat them up if they aren't too busty (which they aren't, because no one except locals and visitors who get tipped off know where they are for now). We got the marinated chicken and an a la carte order of lechon, and both were delicious. Order enough for leftovers. I later used the lechon to make a sandwich using Midnight Bear sourdough bread, a ripe avocado purchased that day from the Kauai Community Market, the tomato and onion that came with the lechon, and drenched it all in the sauce provided. Paradise!
