My wife and I are lucky to have had Khaki shoot our wedding - she was awesome. Her photos are amazing, she has a great eye for composition and color, and she's spontaneous while still being well-organized. Her shots of our preparations and wedding ran the gamut from beautifully staged to completely candid, and she took some of our ideas and ran with them, with better results than we could have hoped for. Khaki has impeccable style and taste. She was one of the first vendors my husband and I chose for our wedding because we loved her unique style of processing. We met Khaki several times before the wedding (engagement shoot, coffee, dinner), and every time she was incredibly sweet and friendly. She totally understood our vision and was very understanding when I gave her an extensive shot list. The day of the wedding, Khaki was a godsend. She was so calm and collected which helped make the day go so smoothly. She was assertive enough to tell us where we would get the best light and suggested natural poses for the formal photos, but completely blended into the background during the ceremony and reception. I don't even remember seeing her but the photos captured everything! Khaki ended up giving us a sneak peak photo the weekend of the wedding (which is my favorite photo of the whole day) and delivered all of the beautiful photos about a month after the wedding. They're exactly our style and she was so flexible in asking what type of processing we preferred. She even gave us a beautiful customized thumb drive with all of the photos with beautiful packaging. In addition to just being a wonderfully kind and positive person, Khaki is an incredibly talented photographer with a great eye for framing and lighting, great taste and impressive skill in processing/retouching. She knew exactly the look that would suit us and our event, without us ever having to discuss it. She shot my wife's and my wedding reception in December, in a dark bar in Williamsburg. It was an evening event, with rain outside, and somehow she was able to achieve beautiful, even lighting in all of the 500+ photos she delivered, without having been using a flash in everybody's faces during the actual event. Perhaps most importantly, she was so professional and never got in the way during any of it (prep at the salon, getting ready at home, saying vows, cutting cake). She was able to capture every single part of the ceremony and preparation, she got pictures of every guest at least once and had a great mix of candid and posed shots, as well as closeups and photos of the scene. She went far above and beyond our expectations, and at a price that was a real bargain considering the quality of the work. Khaki is the best. Khaki is an amazing wedding photographer in so many ways. She takes the most beautiful photographs. My husband was amazed at how gorgeous the photos were. But you can see her portfolio yourself. Here's what you wouldn't know unless you've worked with her or seen her working: Khaki is professional while still being laid back. She is calm even during the most stressful moments (think: sun is setting/the light is almost gone and your mother-in-law-to-be isn't listening to you when you're begging her to come be in a family picture!) It was pretty incredible. I don't know how she doesn't get flustered but she doesn't (even when my mother was trying to get her to fix my mother-in-law's camera during the wedding), even when there was hardly any room to move (it was a small space), even when she had people constantly asking her to take specific pictures. I can't emphasize how amazing it is to have a photographer at your wedding who can be calm through all kinds of situations - the expected and the unexpected. I met Khaki while she was photographing the wedding of a good friend of mine. I thought she seemed really awesome and then I saw her photos. They were amazing. My friend had a big wedding. I was having a small wedding (less than 50 people) and knew that I wanted a photographer who wasn't only great at taking photos, but would also be pleasant to have in the small restaurant where we were having our wedding. Also - our wedding was in a very dimly-lit restaurant but that was no problem for Khaki. The photos came out fabulously and I don't remember her using the flash at all! She photographed both our engagement pics back in September as well as our wedding at the beginning of May (both in Williamsburg, Brooklyn) and was a pleasure to work with both times. From the moment she walked into our apartment for our "interview" we knew she was the one! Khaki is so easy to be around, and she's an incredibly TALENTED photographer. We just got our photos and are amazed - she is everything we hoped for and more! During the wedding, she and her assistant Jonica were capturing everything - from objects like the dresses, shoes, to candid moments, to organizing the family portraits, were so casual and easy. The ceremony - I literally did not even see her. Which was important, because I've been to other weddings and hate when the photographer stands right in front of the couple getting married and is intrusive. Professionally, Khaki was very 'on it,' and it was good working with her in every regard from beginning to end. Khaki is a fabulous photographer and a charming person. She photographed our daughter's wedding on Fire Island this past weekend. She was always there yet never got in the way. Jonica, her assistant ,was able to capture lots of special shots. Since the ceremony was on the beach, we faced wind obstacles. We were unable to take portraits by the ocean so Khaki found lovely nooks and wonderful places for us to take family photos. The best. Absolute best. We had Khaki take maternity pictures and then pictures of our newborn (not in the same day). What can I say about the pictures except absolutely amazing. Khaki took wonderful engagement pictures of me and my boyfriend. We were captured by her own artwork, and everything just felt right from the first email to the time she sent us a download link with pretty pics. Khaki likes to just go for a walk and take pictures over a neighborly chat. She also accommodated us with more posed pics. She made us feel very comfortable. We ended up having a pre-dinner beer with her to end the shoot in a nice way. Very gay-friendly, and she told us she may also shoot gay weddings in her husbands Nashville, Tennessee hideout. We hired her as a solo photographer for our September 2014 wedding, and are amazed at how she alone was able to capture EVERY important moment of our wedding in beautiful and creative ways. Khaki did our wedding photos and (separately) pinup photos of me that were to be a wedding gift to my soon to be husband. I'm glad we went with her, especially for the wedding because she gave us the photos we wanted and made the process fun and pain free. I took my engagement pictures with Khaki Bedford about a week and a half ago. I just got my pictures back today, and I love them!! The whole shoot was so fun. Because Khaki wasn't available, we had Jonica and Justin, two of her photographers, shoot our daughter and new s.i.l's wedding in September '15 in Brooklyn. Our kids didn't want anything traditional---no gown, no first dance, no cake---just a big, fun party. Khaki and Jonica totally got it from the minute we met. The photos capture the joy and warmth of the night on every level. They also recorded the food, flowers and sleeping children with style and charm. Working with Khaki for our wedding/reception photos was a fantastic experience. We looked at a lot of possible photographers, and what was really remarkable in Khaki's work was that she has a great eye for composition, and is also able to connect emotionally with the subjects of her photos. When we looked at her portfolio (before we even met her) I felt a lot of warmth from her pictures, and also that she had captured a lot of personality. This was exactly what happened when we hired her to take photos for our wedding and reception. When we saw all the pictures of our wedding, we remarked over and over again how she had captured something special about us, our families, and our friends. She had found something special about each of them and that showed in the candid photos. We even got amazing portraits of our two dogs, which she captured as candids because the spaniels were never going to agree to pose for anything! We also loved the still life photos that Khaki took of our apartment, neighborhood, ceremony site, and reception venue. Some of her atmospheric photos are good enough that I am tempted to hang them up in our apartment as art (and as an art history major I don't say that lightly).
