Liesl photographed our wedding last year. 12 months later, we were going through the photos and it inspired me to write a 5-star review. Our wedding was a relatively last-minute City Hall affair. Liesl gave us ideas on how to best photograph it, and also knew some pretty helpful tips that made the day go much smoother than it would otherwise. We didn't have to think much -- she knew what style we were going for, and what we wanted for the day, and made it all happen. I've been to weddings that feel more like a photoshoot than anything intimate, and it's one of my bigger pet peeves. Liesl didn't make it feel like that. She was unobtrusive, but still captured great moments to always remember our day. And my family loved her -- she was super kind to everyone, and made them feel relaxed and comfortable. Even more than the photos, that was really important to us. After our nuptials, we dragged Liesl around NYC for more photos with just my wife and me. She knew the area around City Hall really well, and got some stunning photos the incorporated the downtown architecture. After that, photographed us on the subway and at Grand Central. We're still blown away by the photos she took. In short, you won't be disappointed. Whether you're having a huge wedding, or a scaled-back affair like we did, she has a great eye and can cater it to whatever aesthetic you're looking for. Being a HUGE photography lover, getting the perfect photographer for my wedding at a price that we could afford was my absolute #1 priority. After speaking w/ vendors from all over the country (Seattle to Kansas, LA to BK), we decided on Photo Pink for numerous reasons. 1: we had a carnival theme and the hubs and I have a very certain, somewhat off-the-normal path of what we were trying to portray to our guests. 2: the hubs is a musician w/ an inclination towards the more left-winged approach to humor and that also needed to be expressed. 3: we had a total DIY wedding and I NEEDED someone that could respect and capture all of that 4: once we met w/ Liesl and Randy, we were immediately put at ease -- they didn't seem like they wanted to nickel and dime us.; they told us that we get ALL of our photos and on a CD; they were open to a themed photo shoot, with props and all, and didn't look at us cross-eyed when it was mentioned. In addition, throughout the process, Megan (their office manager) ALWAYS responded in a timely fashion. And all the while, she happily answered ALL of my e-mails (from costume questions, to lighting questions, to crazy large photo requests) w/ respect and courteousness. End result: well we haven't gotten our actual wedding photographs yet since we JUST got married a little over a week ago, but our engagement photos were nothing short of amazing!!! Every single person that saw our photos raved about them nonstop. And for those that met Liesl, they were instantly in love w/ her ease and laid-back personality as well. I say that if your looking for a photographer w/ a great eye, amazing ability for good composition, ability to find humor in things and convey that in your photos, and all at a price that you can afford, then Photo Pink is undoubtedly the place to go. It's almost criminal that I haven't written a review for the fine folks at Photo Pink - a full six months after my wedding! The only reason I haven't is because I thought I already did! After checking up on Yelp I saw I actually hadn't, so here it is. My wife and I couldn't be happier; we are still giving the photos as gifts, perusing them occasionally and using them as Facebook cover photos. We met with five wedding photographers, but we felt Photo Pink would add a bit of daring and style to our wedding. We also loved the interaction between Liesl and Randy at our meeting. We knew we made the right choice at the engagement shoot. Randy was great to work with - we went to three locations and he gave us some extra time to get everything in. We were happy with the full shoot too. Shooting on the wedding day went wonderfully! Liesl and Randy took amazing photos at every stage. The getting ready photos are particularly good, and the wedding party and family portraits are superb. They gave our wedding a bit of zing, a bit of whimsy and a lot of color (color is a specialty of theirs). Liesl and Randy were patient, kind and were fun to work with. Liesl and Alexis captured my wedding so completely that I think I got more emotional looking at the photos than I did on my actual wedding day. I didn't care about having a lot of traditional photos, and I had a tiny wedding party, but Liesl and Alexis captured everything, and everyone, in beautiful and surprising ways. I'm so grateful that I have some gorgeous portraits of my family and friends, and many more incredible photos that capture the million tiny moments that made up one of the most wonderful nights of my life. Liesl also generously documented my rehearsal dinner, capturing the intimacy and joy of that event. I cannot say enough about how great Liesl and Randy from Photo Pink are. I was in charge of finding a photographer for our wedding and I went a little OCD. I probably looked through 100 photographers in the NYC area. I narrowed down the selection and made appointments to meet the photographers. From the first meeting I knew we were going with Liesl and Randy. They were creative cool and personable. On our engagement shoot Liesl was awesome she has a great eye for awesome shots. There are not enough good things to say about my experiences with Photo Pink. From the very first inquiry we made when we were researching photographers up until we created our album 8 months post wedding with them, they have been responsive, easy to deal with, professional, and have continually over-delivered on their promises. They created a comfortable environment during all of our photography sessions, great for calming the nerves of those who don't have much experience in front of the camera. Ellen and I found Photo Pink online on a list of "recommended photographers for same-sex weddings," and you only need to look at their portfolio on the web site to see how unique and cool their style is (for weddings of any gender combination). And Liesl and Randy are even nicer and cooler than their photos suggest! We eloped at Brooklyn Marriage Bureau, which turned out to be a bit of an off-beat hoot, in a good way. We got some triumphant shots on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall, and then we took a cab over to Dumbo with Randy, where we got wonderful shots of the skyline and the bridge. It's not an exaggeration to say that Randy made our wedding an order of magnitude more wonderful than it was going to be without him, and that was pretty fun already. Photo Pink was fantastic. We booked Jenny as our main shooter, and got Emily as the second shooter. We were thrilled with both. 1) The photos are stunning; one of our friends told us that in the pictures "everyone looks like supermodels." There are a good mix of straightforward capture-the-moment shots and more artistic shots, and the composition and framing are great without being self-conscious. Jenny told us that she does documentary photography as well, and it shows. The photos from the main event are elegant (which matched the wedding style), and came out great despite the low-light venue. The engagement shoot photos are hip and fun from around Brooklyn. They're collectively funny, touching, creative, and striking. 2) Both photogs made us feel extremely comfortable (which is no mean feat). At the wedding, they were completely unobtrusive while still somehow capturing everything. My husband says Emily kept him and his groomsmen just busy enough while he was waiting for me to come out to keep the nervousness down. The engagement shoot was much more fun than we expected it to be. 3) The processing is all done by Liesl (the owner), and is fantastic. She helps give them texture, style, pop, and variety, again without looking overdone. 4) The second shooter is also always a full-time pro from their group. Emily's photos also came out great. 5) As others have said, you get all your photos at full resolution on CD, with full rights to them. This is surprisingly uncommon! Our only complaint was that it took kind of a long time to get the wedding photos back. This was right around Hurricane Sandy, though, so I don't know how much that interrupted their business, and they gave us a credit for prints as an apology. Photo Pink is amazing in every sense of the word. My wife & I could not have been happier working with them. Right after meeting Liesl & Randy it was easy to cross the other 7 prospects off of the list and go with them. From their personalities to their professionalism to the quality of their work, they really made our wedding (November 2010) special despite obviously being only one of many vendors we worked with (ultimately we spent the most time with our photographers than anyone else, and they're just downright awesome to hang out with!). I never understand why I've encountered unfriendly wedding photographers at friends' occasions, but Photo Pink proves why truly the best work needs to be done under positive circumstances by good people. It's hard to overstate how wonderful it was to work with Emily and the rest of Photo Pink. Picking a photographer was a daunting task for me - there were lots of options and I didn't have a particular eye for it. Looking at many portfolios, there were a bunch of mediocre options but also lots of very good ones - but they were hard to distinguish from one another. When I finally came upon Photo Pink and Emily, I was blown away by the talent and creativity. They were unique and amazing and edgy. Everybody we dealt with was extremely responsive, professional, and pretty cool. This is a Brooklyn business with a Brooklyn vibe. It's in no way "corporate". Emily shot our engagement pictures and did an amazing job. We were amazed at how well they came out and her eye for a beautiful background. For the wedding day, we also had the opportunity of working with Jenny, who is also extremely talented. She was laid back and also had great vision. They did an awesome job capturing our ceremony and partying. Overall, can't say enough good things. They are unique and talented and great to work with. Jenny worked with my wife and I well in advance of the big day - even as we made scheduling an engagement shoot difficult (we live in the Bay Area and were married in Brooklyn). She was flexible, understanding, and professional. When we finally did pin down our engagement shoot - the week of the wedding, we had a great afternoon walking around Dumbo with Jenny. She was calm (and calming for us) and super easy to talk to and hang with. For us, being in front of the camera the same week as the wedding ended up being super helpful, meaning that it's something that becomes more comfortable over the engagement shoot afternoon and that bleeds into your wedding day. As for the big day itself, Jenny and Emily teamed up wonderfully. Again, their both being so calm, yet professional really makes a difference throughout the day - and the import of it extends well beyond you and your bride/groom - it's helpful for family and friends, too. What else? They stayed later than asked and worked tirelessly to get shots throughout the day / evening while never being pushy. Now, as for the photography itself. The scheduling and contract was handled very efficiently by Megan the office manager and she answered lots of emails full of random questions I had. Liesl (photographer) captured every moment and detail of the wedding in an artistic photojournalistic style. Working with Liesl and Randy was awesome. They're both incredibly cool people, which was an absolutely critical trait, since we were with them for literally the entire day. Throughout our entire wedding day, they managed to be everywhere without being at all intrusive. In addition to full-day coverage, our package included a photobooth, which resulted in some absolutely hilarious pictures. We also received CDs with high-resolution images from our engagement shoot, wedding day, and photobooth; plus all of the pictures were available online for our guests to see. Photo Pink shot our wedding this past March, and they were just incredible from start to finish. The resulting photos are saturated and beautiful and they captured moments that we'll cherish always (like the expression my mom always gives me, a gorgeous rain shot. that made us somehow look like we were Grace Kelly and Fred Astaire, and a precious close up of one of our nieces). And yes, horror, it rained on our Big Day...Randy and Jenny totally worked with it and the result was uber romantic. Plus, they were both genuinely nice, calm, sweet people and you'll want that energy around you. Randy did an amazing job for us on our wedding day. He captured moments we didn't even recognize until we saw them in the photos. He stayed with us the entire evening and was incredibly gracious during some of the more chaotic moments leading up to the ceremony. He was even a good sport about the August heat. I couldn't think of someone I would want more to capture our wedding. He also managed to capture the cool architecture of the surrounding neighborhood without being fussy, pretentious or predictable. read more

Originally, our plan was to hire a non-wedding documentary photographer, just to get as far away from cheesy photos as possible. But PhotoPink ended up being what we were looking for. They're used to shooting all sorts of weddings, so they don't try to make yours fit a certain formula. Our photographer, Konrad, was phenomenal. He worked with us to find great settings for our outdoor photos and was really responsive to our requests. At the wedding, he managed to capture the feel of our event, without being intrusive. In fact, he was so great that more than one guest assumed he was a family member who happened to also be a photographer. In short, we definitely recommend them - but you do have to book early, they fill up well in advance. read more

Almost 2 years after our wedding, hubs and I are still little sad that we'll never again look as good as we do in our pictures. I think we're an adorable couple, but Liesl and Randy made us look GORGEOUS. They were amazing in every possible way: I barely noticed them at the reception (could've been the xanax), but they managed to capture every single major can't-live-without-it shot, and turn each one into art. Never thought I would be framing and hanging a picture of the carving station from my wedding, but these two just GOT US. Liesl at Photo Pink was my wedding photographer for my July 2012 wedding and I could not have been happier with my experience. My photos are BEAUTIFUL and working with Liesl was a pleasure. The minute I saw Photo Pink's website, I knew I had to meet with them because their photos are fresh, edgy, hip and nothing short of stunning. Happily though, the photographers don't come with a pretentious attitude to match. Liesl is incredibly down to earth, friendly, and clearly gets a kick out of shooting all different types of weddings, unlike those photographers who aren't much good outside your run of the mill, cookie cutter wedding. I love that Photo Pink is not part of the "wedding machine" i.e. charging a ridiculous amount of money, set in their ways, and holding your photos hostage on an expensive website after the big day. Photo Pink gives you a CD of all of your images (in super-cute pink leopard print wrapping paper to boot), PLUS they post your pics on a website for your family and friends to buy high quality prints if they choose. I thought the prices for their packages were very reasonable and they were happy to negotiate. My husband and I were worried about feeling awkward with a photographer in our faces all day, but Liesl and Randy are excellent at working with camera-shy people and making you feel comfortable, even when you're out in public going for those cool city-street shots and everyone is looking at you. Their candid photos are gorgeous - Liesl has an excellent eye for capturing all those special, unscripted moments without barging in and ruining them. For example, my bridesmaids remarked that they hadn't even noticed her presence for most of the reception, but she managed to get incredible candids of all of them. I love supporting small independent businesses and I think Photo Pink has a great thing going on. You will NOT be disappointed. PS: Having looked through Photo Pink's extensive portfolios, I think they would be an excellent choice for Elopements. They manage to get incredible shots of very simple ceremonies and celebrations. They can make going to City Hall and getting a beer afterwards look like a glamorous and/or edgy fashion mag spread. In my opinion, the photography truly is the most important thing because it is all that will remain of your big day. I am so glad I trusted Liesl and Photo Pink with my wedding photos. read more
