Don't be late! They have strict late policy, doors lock when class starts. Get there at least 10 minutes early to prep your space. Originally signed up for their Hot Yoga class but missed it and ended up doing their Yin class. Honestly, it was exactly what I needed to whine down on a Friday evening. This was a class focused on stillness and deep stretching. When you walk into this studio you are immediately welcomed with the aroma cedarwood and lemon, it was so pleasant. Khali is consistent - hot, challenging, and leaves you physically and mentally changed after each vinyasa class. The classes do not include music which is a nice way to lock into what you're doing, your breath, and what the instructor is sharing with you. This is certainly the most crowded yoga studio I go to, but you truly get used to it and I do not find it bothersome. The consistency of the flow is helpful - I've been doing yoga for a long time, but I will give this studio credit for me finally being able to do wheel! I enjoy that I can benchmark my progress here and always look forward to returning to this space. read more

Pros: Ian Grosh is one of the best yoga instructors you'll ever find. He brings great energy to every class, makes everyone feel genuinely welcome, and keeps the atmosphere fun and light-hearted. He encourages students to try new poses in a supportive, non-pushy way, which has made a real difference for me. Because of Ian, I've actually started attempting crow pose -- something I never would even try -- and while I'm still working on it, his encouragement and clear guidance keeps me motivated to try my best. Cons: The reason for my one-star review is the studio's late policy. If you are literally even ONE minute late (no exaggeration), you are locked out of the building, charged a late fee, and have to drive home without attending class. I would understand a more reasonable policy, such as a 5-10 minutes cut off, but a one-minute cutoff is truly outrageous -- especially when most classes are only 65-75% full and have several open spots in the back. Being penalized this harshly for something so minor has caused me unbelievable frustration and has simply led to too much wasted time and money. There is no gym, workout studio, or yoga center that has such a draconian late policy and Khali is really doing a huge disservice to their customers by implementing it. Note: If Khali ever changes their late policy, I'd be happy to take down my review, but until then I'll need to find a new studio. read more

My happy place! Khali is a super healing and nurturing environment. I have taken vinyasa, yoga nidra, guided mediation, deep stretch, and sound bath. All highly recommend! Not only is their space is so warm and welcoming, everyone on staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There are cubbies for your belongings. If you forgot your mat, they happen to have really affordable rentals ($3). The mats are also really nice and high quality. The practice room is also a technology-free space, so you can really focus on your practice. There are lots of items you can use for your practice, free of charge: bolsters, blocks, small towels, and small medallions to show if you would like help from the instructor. I love that the practice room faces the green space outside. You can see the trees and the sunlight peeking through while you flow. A nice view for any nature lovers. Last time I attended a deep stretch/sound bath class in the evening we had the doors open and some fire pits crackling in the background. It was so peaceful. And if you're headed off to work or play after class, there's plenty of restrooms where you can get freshened up (some have showers too). If you want to test it out, drop-in classes are quite affordable - $17/class. Only have beautiful things to say about Khali, it's a great community to be a part of. Pro-tip, try to get to class a bit early(10-15min) as parking can be limited depending on the class. More popular classes can fill the parking lot quickly. But not to worry there's plenty of street parking available. read more

Beautiful studio. Beautiful people. I have been coming to Khali for about 2 years now. I have attended well over 50 classes here and have lost at 20-40 pounds doing hot yoga among other things and I owe much of my inner and outer transformation to this studio and the people who have provided such a wonderful space for growth. The teachers do not just teach you to do the yoga poses they teach you how to step out of your comfort zone and have fun. I would recommend a teacher but they all have unique styles and personalities. The facilities are fabulous and the people who work here and attend the classes are all extremely warm. I would consider this the best yoga studio in Charlotte and I have been to almost every yoga/pilates class in the city. read more

The yoga studio is beautiful but the classes are too crowded for my taste. The floor is marked with tape so you know where to put your mat and they only allow a few inches between mats. They fit 72 students into class; if the weather is nice they open the garage doors and can fit over 100 students. The Sunday morning hot vinyasa class I attended was pretty fast paced and the instructor basically called out the poses, so if you're a beginner this is probably not a good class to attend. They have little coasters that you put next to your mat to indicate if you want the instructor to assist/touch you or not. One thing I found off putting was that the yoga instructor was walking around during the class and he would step on people's mats instead stepping in between them. I don't want someone's dirty feet on my mat where I might have to put my face later. The prices are very affordable -- $14 for a drop in class, $80/month for unlimited classes, new student special is $25 for a week of unlimited classes. You can rent yoga mats and towels if you don't bring your own. (Instead of renting a towel, you could borrow a washcloth from the bathroom and just return it after class!) read more

The staff here is completely unwilling to work with their members to make sure their membership is accommodating and satisfying. We booked a trial with intention of doing a monthly membership. We misunderstood the signup details and did not realize we were signing up for a 6-month commitment. That's on us. Fully admitting that misperception. We are new to Charlotte, and only here for a few months while I am in school. When trying to communicate this to the studio, they essentially gave us corporate mumbo jumbo about "it's our policy" and "there's absolutely nothing we can do." We felt patronized and their responses were very off-putting, especially for a place that claims to be a wellness space where you go to feel nurtured. In reality, there is plenty they could do. They could simply switch the membership and there would be no sweat off anyone's back. They'd still get their money. We even offered to pay an additional month beyond when we would be leaving the state, and still, they were unwilling to work with us. Would expect this from a big box branded corporate studio, not a local small business that claims to be all about community. It's less about the money, more about the principle for us, but I guess for this studio it's the other way around. read more

I tried this place twice. I LOVED Lindsey Crisp Deep Stretch but I really despised Chris Wilson Vinyasa class. I did not enjoy it at all. The energy was completely off and the flow was non existent, to me. Literally polar opposite. I most likely won't be returning. I just don't think this facility is for me. Which is odd, because I've never a yoga experience like this before. It's unfortunate but it is what it is. Also if you're are thinking of sitting outside, please bring a HUGE OFF Bug repellent candle. My friend used the bug spray provided by the facility but she got eaten alive. If you are working towards a weight goal or you just like to track your activity on your smart watch please be mindful they make it a point to tell you to take it off. First time trying to go back to the studio after being away for a year.. I was 4 minutes late and was not allowed in. I checked my bank statement that cost me a total of $42. Ok, don't allow me in, but to also charge a no show fee? You've got to be kidding me. Sometimes those that are running a few minutes late, need yoga the most. I visited this place for the first time after recently moving to the area and was super excited to try this place out but couldn't find any parking. I checked two nearby parking lots, but they were also full. I called the business, and Jess answered. I explained that I was in the parking lot but couldn't find a single spot, making it impossible for me to attend the class. I requested to cancel my plan and receive a refund, but I was told that cancellations is not in their policy. On top of that, I was told that I will be charged $15 late/cancellation fee. Went to my first class at Khali this morning, and absolutely loved it. Our hot yoga class was warm enough to be challenging but not so overwhelming that I had to quit. I was able to take a few breaks throughout class and continue working. This company has prioritized diversity which made me feel right at home and that is very difficult to find in many yoga studios. Purchased class passes in April but due to an urgent and unplanned surgery could not attend offerings. I finally had healed enough to visit again yesterday and was told my passes had expired. I noticed another comment about shady practices but never considered that it would be my experience. They did not offer to extend or refund my purchase which was extremely disappointing. My friends and I dropped in for a Saturday morning class and loved it! We were greeted by Cashew, the sweet dog. One of my friends is kind of horrified of animals but, they had no issue sending Cashew out for a walk. Patio classes are life. The bright studio is gorgeous and full of plants. Right now all the classes are on the patio with stickers placed 6 feet apart. There are ample bathrooms and a water fountain. Bring your own props for practice and all classes are $10. Yes even now! The instructors are challenging, accessible, bright and fun. Lots of variety in the class times. The 7:30pm is the best to watch the sun set. Their trainings and special events aren't to be missed either both online and physically distanced. read more

What a beautiful, inviting, bright studio! I came to Khali for a bodywork session with Luis and he continues to impress. I sit all day for work and carry a lot of stress in my upper back. Additionally, I arch my back which adds to discomfort. Luis took that information to customize our bodywork session to my needs. He is so in tune to the body and how to alleviate tension. Love this spot for so many reasons. One, the yoga is great, with unique but accessible flows for all skill levels. Two, the teachers do a great job guiding the practice in a mindful, intentional way that pushes you but also takes care of your body. Three, the really emphasize diversity and community, opening the studio up to people from different cultures who normally do not get access to yoga. (They even offer classes in Spanish) Four - Khali Yoga just looks good. The decor is unique, like a cool mix of luxury and vintage, but the space still feels open and inviting. And finally, it's convenient - there's parking to get in and out and the classes are arranged at thoughtful times during the day.
