My wife and I were craving some Indian food while visiting Montreal and we saw Veranda had really…read moregood reviews so we wanted to try it! It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!

Combine the right mixture of spices with the right ingredients- and you get a perfect flavor explosion. Wow- I can't imagine a better dining experience. And the staff were all extremely courteous and polite. I'd give them six stars if I could!

I loved everything about this restaurant and only wish that we had one like it in Seattle…read more Everything is vegan and almost everything is gluten free so I don't have to worry about getting sick if I eat there. They have quite a bit of variety on the menu and it was difficult to choose but I finally decided on the sampler platter and my mom ordered a dish with black chickpeas. The black chickpeas are typically spicy but they toned it down for her and it was perfect. My sampler had six small dishes and a dessert with rice in the middle. Every dish was better than the last and the dessert was perfect, not too heavy. The service was very attentive, friendly. The restaurant seems very clean and had a cozy and comfortable ambience. I'm no longer in Montreal, I will return here when I am back and I have already told my Montreal friends they must try this place.

Highly recommend this place if you are vegan and are looking for health Indian meal choices! Everything on our plate was delish! The place slowly started getting crowded for lunch since thali is only offered during lunch! Turmeric milk was the best!!! Would visit again! Parking is a bit tight around here so be mindful of that incase you are driving here

The lighting was relaxing, the table and chairs more than adequate and we did not feel rushed. Our server was good but could use some professional training. But without question, I will give this resto a 5 STAR rating. It has become my goto Indian restaurant, anywhere! I will without hesitation travel from Pointe-Calumet to dine here. One can take the REM from Deux Montagnes to Édouard Monpetit, transfer to the Blue line direction Est to Acadie. The resto is a 5 minute walk from there.

Having eaten great Indian food throughout the U.S., (including many times at my Indian friends home,) and in India, would have to say the food was great! Ordered from our friendly waitress their flavorful Masala Tea to accompany my main course, the Chef's Special Lamb Curry, which included a wide variety of other components, plus two extra Tandoori Chicken drumsticks to share with my nephew. Took a taste of my family's starters, the Channa Samosa (which was covered in Curried Chickpeas) and Masala Dosa - both excellent. My Lamb Curry was a superb combo plate that also included a leg of Tandoori Chicken, Curried Chickpeas, Raita, Salad, Rice and Naan - providing an exceptional mix of complementary flavors and a good value like everything at Maison Indian Curry. All in all, I'd recommend Maison Indian Curry and will return here on a future trip to Montréal when Indian is the cuisine of choice!

I've been going here for at least 5 years and I'll be the first person to tell you that the quality of the food has not diminished despite its newfound popularity among those outside of Parc Ex. I live in The Sud-Ouest and never regret making the commute out to indulge with my boyfriend or wow out-of-town guests who have never experienced the magic of a good thali. Let's dig into a typical visit to Chand Palace: it doesn't matter what time of day it is, there will always be a crowd already inside. Don't let this dishearten you. I promise it is worth the wait (and the line always moves fast!). Once inside, you'll be greeted with menus and on the house papadum to snack on while you make your decision. I recommend indulging in an order of pakoras or onion bhajis along with your main meal. It's a lot of food, and you'll have leftovers to bring home, but their deliciously crispy apps are not to be missed. The thali is always worth it, for lunch or for dinner (the price increases a bit at dinner time). You never know what dishes you'll get, but it makes every visit exciting -- and it's a great way to ensure you're always trying something new even if you fall into the habit of going to Chand for every occasion (guilty). My personal favourite is the shahi paneer. I've yet to find another Indian restaurant to make it so creamy and delightful! Every time I leave Chand Palace, I'm amazed by the quality-to-price ratio. I'm not exaggerating when I say you can take a group of 5 out to a dinner for under $75. This makes for a great economical trick when you want to treat your out-of-town guests to a delicious meal on you! Oh, and don't forget: Chand Palace is BYOB so make sure to stop in at an SAQ before making your way to Parc Ex (where the Depanneur wine is insanely overpriced).
