Khan's tutorial has been a must in our family. I as a parent, can nag and nag all day about studying or prepping for standardized tests, and it never works. I have found that with the support of this tutoring center, it has definitely helped motivate my children in putting in the work to succeed. Like with anything, tests are not a measure of talent or being gifted, it's about being prepared, and they definitely provide the help and support to our children to be prepared as possible for the classroom and standardized tests. They create a healthy, competitive atmosphere, to encourage our children to aim high, and give them the tools they need to achieve their goals. I have two older children who have attended Khan's. From homework help, state test prep, SHSAT prep and SAT prep. My eldest went to Bronx science and is now in St. John's in the PharmD program. My younger one is currently a junior in Stuyvesant. A disappointment of a tutoring service. The recent news hit sure, but I will speak form my experience. There is a particular tutor here that uploads literal grades of students, videos students, and comments on her students on social media. My niece goes to this tutoring place and I have been shown some of these posts on stories on Instagram by a mutual friend of this tutor and myself. I find it quite appalling that this tutor never got in trouble, and she has handled my niece in a rough manner multiple times. She will literally yell at her for not understanding something, my niece became scared of her in the end. My niece has been pulled out of this service for a few months now, but it's appalling to know tutors do this. I shouldn't have to be told by a friend of mine that my niece's name is displayed in this tutor's social media as she makes snarky remarks about children. The tutoring there was awful, wasted thousands for my niece. The "report cards" are such a joke, how about being professional and teaching students with sincerity and empathy. Even speaking to this tutor was enough to turn me down, she was rude and cocky. I don't recommend this place at all, they hire amateurs. Sure you can have good grades, but if you don't speak to students in a good manner and TEACH them something they can use-- what's the point exactly? Very appalling once again, and I would hope for this tutor to be investigated in the future. Disgusting behavior. read more

It's downright horrible. For a price so high, it's garbage. They steal the work from cheap workbooks and the mentorship there barely helps at all. I feel sorry for the staff members that are actually passionate about the things they do. They aren't even professional educators. For the SHSAT prep, they copy the work from a free high school admissions guide that the DOE offers for FREE. Most of the "instructors" are just a bunch of teens who don't take their job seriously. The kids are out of control too. I always have to hear a teacher scream nothing other than shut up. There are many other cheaper alternatives. I would recommend those. The instructors also use obscure language around students with no regard of their existence when doing so. read more

I liked the curriculum here. Liked. Ever since the allegations, everything has been a mess. They have been copying the curriculum from PSAT BOOKS! FOR SHSAT! This is crazy the way it's being run in Jackson heights in the Bronx excellence tutor. My son was about to go to summer school he not only excel in math but at the end of the year he did Honoroll,So this is a shock for me My son average a 98 percent in he's city test because of khan. Khans is terrible. Not only do they have irresponsible tutors, but they can't even communicate with the parents! They have one number, but they almost never hold. They don't respond to emails either. I absolutely don't recommend this place. read more

For 7th grade test prep, they take work from PSAT books instead of giving us SHSAT work like we are supposed to have. Many tutors do not want to help us and they expect us to only memorize 20 dollar textbooks. Khans offers no help and most people are better off with a 10 dollar prepbook. read more

I went there years ago and I was very disappointed! The classes are expensive and they give you work from a book. The books are general test-prep books anyone can attain through barnes and noble. To be fair to future prospective specialized high school students(main reason anyone goes there), purchase Barron's SHSAT book and just study intensively for a few weeks. You'll save yourself and your family a lot of money. At Khan's, high school students "teach" you and not Mr. or Mrs.Khan. Not only that, they've expanded, which i great, but they sill suck. SAVE YOUR MONEY! I urge students, families, and parents to please study on your own to achieve success. Going to this tutorial will not magically help you get into one of these schools. And Mrs. Khan is very rude and stingy for money. Dr. Khan, however, is a very sincere, helpful man. read more

It is unfortunate that I have to write this despite many efforts to make my experience with KT a success. What I expected was personalized teaching from actual TRAINED TEACHERS. Instead I got handed a workbook and disengaged staff who was not invested in helping me. The tutor also told me how little they are paid comparatively ( which was a shock given how much my parents paid for the services) and that the whole business is a ploy to deceive people. The whole staff lacks actual educators who are dedicated to helping people rather than deceptively fill their pockets. Quite unfortunate. read more

i could go on and on about this place. the tutors are mostly young inexperienced high schoolers who don't care about anything except earning enough money to go to college. i mean that's great on them but in my entire ten years of going to this place, i have met only 3 genuinely caring workers who work well with kids. i would have some tutors refuse to work with me when i was eight years old and laugh and gossip around me as if i couldn't hear anything they were saying. it completely shattered my self esteem and made me believe i was inferior to all of the kids my age. unfortunately this was not just a one time thing. i've struggled with adhd my entire life so i was always kind of an outcast already but my shitty tutors didn't make that any better. i'd be humiliated, told i wouldn't go anywhere in life, called names, and publicly shamed in front of my entire class. the last straw was when i was sexually assaulted by my friend who i used to attend classes with, and the staff didn't do shit about it. i asked to have my classes changed but for some reason these tutors would give me attitude despite knowing what happened to me and instead of sympathizing with me, they made me feel like a burden which i wasn't new to. i wish i never went to this place, i wish i could get my childhood back, and most importantly i wish this place could get taken down. burned to ashes even. and the most i can do is write a yelp review because this is how helpless i am. read more
