Decent Asian food option in 6 th arrondisment. My family enjoyed this place but to me it's not authentic Thai. The pad thai and pad see ew noodles are the same thickness and sauce tasted the same. They are more like stir fry chinese noodles rather than true pad thai or pad see ew. Staffs were friendly and kind. Green curry with chicken is good amount spicy and tres delicieux to eat with rice. Stopped by on a rainy New Year's Day, many restaurants were closed and found this stop next to the Seine on rue Dauphine. Ordered the lunch pre fixe menus. Several options to choose from. Ordered: Entree - chicken lemongrass soup - beef salad, this was the best dish, but was more on the spicy than I would've liked Plat - beef green curry, flavorful broth but beef was over cooked - poulet red curry, also chicken was over cooked - poisson du jour, fish of the day were fried pisces of fish Also got a side order of veggies which were delicious! I've been to Khao Thai several times and this visit proved to be as good as always. I'm glad that I went early for dinner on a Thursday evening as it began filling up around 8 pm. My Tom Kha Gai (coconut lime chicken soup) was excellent with a bowl of freshly made sticky jasmine rice. Just the thing to help with jet lag! The interior was small but stylish. The patrons ranged from Parisian ladies having a quiet casual meal to young American couples talking on their cell phones during dinner and loudly discussing their first world problems, a la a Woody Allen movie. Amazing Thai food! On my last trip to Paris, I ate at this spot no less than FOUR TIMES. Their 3-course lunch special can't be beat, in terms of both flavor and value! I highly recommend the Spicy Beef Salad appetizer. So fresh and flavorful, with a tangy dressing, fresh mint, and a generous amount of delicious and tender beef. I had several entrees, including Chicken with Ginger, Chicken Red Curry, Pad Thai, and the special fish of the day. All were outstanding! Don't miss the fabulous coconut pudding for dessert. This was a beautiful little thai place we found in Paris! It's not too far from Saint Chapelle. They have a special lunch menu too. Their service was a bit slow, since they were really busy. We had some trouble with ordering food since we didn't speak French! But, hey Google Translate all the way!! We are vegetarian and don't eat eggs so they accomplish us well. We ordered the spring rolls, pad sew and tom yum soup. Food was absolutely delicious. Spring rolls were nice and crispy, the soup had a really good flavor to it, noodles were good but could have used a little spice. Wow. This meal was in the top 3 of all of our meals during our 9 days in Paris. It was spectacular. The service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. We stumbled upon the restaurant during our last night in Paris, by luck. We had actually had a fellow diner highly recommend it a few days prior, it didn't carve out time, so we were happy when we found it. We were seated immediately and given top notch hospitality. The waiter (he might be an owner) was very helpful with recommendations- I always like to ask what their favorites are- and not trying to get us to get the most expensive menu items. He was very honest and helpful! Definitely the best Thai food I've EVER had. I can't remember the name of our starter, but j believe it was a spring roll of some type. I just remember it was nothing like we expected, and yet everything we wanted! For our mains: The Ho-Mok-Tha-Lay, seafood curry served in a coconut, was our favorite out of the two entrees, for both the fun presentation and obvious wonderful taste. Not to worry, the other entree, Ped-Rong-Hay, was a delicious duck in a turmeric sauce that was very good as well. We shared an order of sticky rice to enjoy alongside the meal. Our dessert was the mango sticky pudding and WHOA.. We're both still drooling over that. My husband never usually gets dessert when we're out, and he almost ate it all! ;) Take a break from typical French cuisine and do yourself a favor and make a reservation NOW for this place. Haven't had any other Thai food in Paris so I can't say it's the best, but it's the best I've had in my travels thus far! Moderately seasoned, so don't expect traditional Thai flavor, but still delicious. The lunch menu is an appetizer, entree/rice and dessert (the Thai pudding was perfect) for 16€ or dinner (same concept, different plates) for 32€. We walked away with 4 of us eating for 100€, with a couple glasses of wine and green tea. So far, that seems to be well priced in my book. You can also just order from their expansive menu. The chicken skewers were perfect. The spring rolls are fried which was unexpected for us so just beware. The duck was cooked perfect, the pad Thai was good but we preferred the cashew nut chicken over it. Ambiance is a nice change over the rustic restaurants usually found in this area. All in all, a great night out, good change from French cuisine and a good price. Highly recommend reservations. We did them online (used tripadvisor-- sorry) and walked right in while others (including locals) waited in the rain. read more

A CALIFORNIAN review (I only say that for context): When I travel, it is pretty rare that I eat a cuisine that is not native to the country I am visiting, however after two weeks in France, I was dying for some heat! We read the reviews for Khao Thai and I'm glad we did. Because French food is not spicy, the waiter was reluctant to make my Pad Thai "spicy" so he gave me chili oil on the side for me to doctor my own noodles. The Pad Thai itself was pretty good but definitely different than what we are used to in Southern California (hence my title above). So if anyone from California might be interested in trying this place I highly recommend it, it just doesn't taste the same as what you might be used to at home. We started with the spring rolls and they were great! The pad thai was pretty good. The noodles just taste like they've been cooked in butter instead of oil. So all to say, the dish was good, but had more of a buttery flavor. The wait staff was very friendly as well. The owner was our server, he provided excellent service and is super friendly. I had a fantastic experience at Khao Thai. I loved it so much my first time that I went one more time before I left Paris. First off, you are in Paris so it is not uncommon or unexpected that it is a tiny cute restaurant. This also means that you will be in close vicinity with the people around you, but after several weeks in Paris this was pretty much expected. The service was amazing and everyone was very friendly.They were always quick whether it came to serving food or bringing a fresh carafe d'eau. They were not stingy about bringing you water like I expereinced at other places since we were just asking for tap and not bottled water. My friend and I shared spring rolls which were very yummy and fresh. I ordered pad see-u with chicken. It was not only very delicious but it was beauitfully dished. It came with some fresh bean sprouts on the side to mix in which added a light crunch. The chicken was cooked nicely and juicy with flavor. I would definitely recommend Khao Thai to anybody who is around the area. read more

I felt like we were sitting on top of one another & everyone was staring at one another being so close to each other. My food had the entire body of the shrimp which I had to take a part & see part of a shrimp I didn't care to see. Again, maybe I am just spoiled with the Thai restaurants we have in America. I am torn on this review. The food was good, but our server was very rude. I realize there is a language barrier to an extent, but his facial expressions, mannerisms translated into any language. He was obviously very annoyed by our questions regarding the menu. I actually asked him if we were bothering him, he just glared at me. My mother asked him if the food she was looking at was spicy, he said only a little and it would be good for her, it was very spicy, we sent it back, you can imagine the reaction. For a thai restaurant in Paris, its not too bad but definitely not something I would recommend. Being from California, where we have an array of amazing food, i'd rate my chicken basil dish a solid 5 (chicken tasted funny and portion was so small). OK we go to Paris every year, I used to live there, we speak fluent French, just to say that it's not that we are not used to Paris! Having said this, khao Thai was the WORST restaurant experience that my husband and I have ever had!!! I only wish I had a photo to post of the skeleton and opening for the head of the fish that they gave me! It was so disgusting I couldn't even believe it! And nothing to eat so I sent it back. The server actually had told me it was a large piece of Bar fish. I ordered something else and when they brought the bill they charged us for the skeleton. My husband spoke with the manager and she argued with him loudly in front of everyone in this tiny restaurant. I won't go into all of the sordid details there's no room here, suffice it to say we do not recommend you go to Khao Thai, under any circumstances! read more

Ummm SO delicious. Authentic Thai. The spicy chicken soup (Tom Kai I think) was amazing. We shared a large bowl. I had the Panang curry. Just the right amount of spice. Flavor was legit. My wife had the shrimp yellow curry. It was more like a stir fry than curry and maybe a lite more bland than we expected but something at have been lost in translation. It was still very good. This was also the only place in Paris that kept our water carafe full. Service was excellent! Our waiter even asked us if we had any plans for the evening and gave us some suggestions for jazz.
