Beautiful small restaurant. Excellent green curry with tofu and veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, etc.). Take away portion was HUGE. Try it with sticky rice for something different. My husband had the tofu with bell peppers and basil and thought it was pretty good. Tons of tofu and a huge portion. Recommended if you want Thai in Paris! Amazing! Wasn't sure what to expect from a Thai restaurant in Paris. Ambience is so unique, the staff was super attentive and helpful. But most importantly, the food was superb. We shared the mix satay, the meat was very tender, and the vinegar dipping sauce was perfect. I had the green curry, which was the best I've ever had. We were in the mood for Thai food after eating non-Asian for weeks. Tamarind caught our eye and the variety on the menu looked good. We stopped by around 9pm on a Sat night. It was full, but they 1 table for us. We ordered the spring rolls, pad Thai and green curry. The spring rolls were amazing, some of the best ever. The pad thai was a little different than we're used to but still excellent. And the green curry and sticky rice was very good as well. Service was excellent with good English (better than our French) and prices are reasonable for the nice setting, good food and service. read more

Excellent Thai! My wife and I ate at Tamarind Thai tonight. Our two appetizers were crispy vegetarian spring rolls and yummy scrambled eggs and prawns wrapped in crepe. Mmmmm! We ordered a lot of food. Next up was the main course, panning curry beef with kaffir lie lab, and garlic sautéed prawns, and a side of vegetables, and rice. Delicious, warm, moderately spicy. We finished with an excellent mango + coconut cream and sticky rice. An excellent end to an excellent meal. read more

We love paris and have had our fair share of French culinary classics and all the goodness that comes from the occasional visit. But now that we are so well acquainted with the city we wanted to do something different and return to some of the food that we enjoy. So why not start with Thai food. From Chiang Mai to Phuket, east or west coast, we love thai food. Figured we would try it in Paris and given the reviews and proximity we went with Tamarind... and boy are we glad we did! This is authentic stuff right here. Like you were eating curries in the heart of the Kanchanaburi. The coconut, basil, spices and all the typical ingredients are done so well here. The meats and seafood cooked perfectly. The appetizers, samosas, and pastries were just divine. The mango for the dessert was heaven. This isn't ground breaking new technology. This isn't french techniques used in thai food. no, this is just pure good Thai cooking and I would come back as a regular if i could! read more

Randomly walking down the street in Paris and walked into this spot. Immediately was impressed with how clean and neat everything was and especially how kind the staff was right away. I ordered off of the vegetarian menu and had the Tom Kha soup, Green Curry with tofu (it was actually seitan/wheat gluten), and traditional Mangos w/sticky rice. I live in LA and have been to Thailand several times, and I can say without a doubt that this was the best Thai meal I have ever had hands down no question. Flavors were absolutely perfect, service time in between dishes was perfect, and I guess I should stop writing because I don't actually know how to illustrate how wonderful this place was. I will definitely be going back tomorrow again. The quality of the few fully vegan options they had more than makes up for it being a small section of the menu. Amazing thai food inside a small and beautifully decorated Thai restaurant. We are from San Francisco bay area and were craving Thai food on a rainy day and found Tamarind on yelp. This ranks as one of the best Thai food I have had. I lived in Thailand for a year and I know good Thai food. Every single dish we tried rocked. Try the chef recommendations, they were all spot on. Apparently, I have not eaten Thai food until the night I dined here. I mean, seriously. Those canola oil soaked pad thai noodles and chicken entrails that I'm used to in the US are not even in the same genre. Tamarind is amazing food; a complete sensory experience. It was the caliber of food that demands to be eaten slowly to appreciate the moment. Because food this well spiced and cooked is rare; it must be savored. I had the mixed satay to start. The accompanying peanut sauce had not a hint of high fructose gummy corn syrup nonsense that we find in the US. It was pure ingredients, whole food and from scratch. For my main dish, I ordered the curry nua (beef) with slightly added spice. The meal melted in my mouth, the rice was perfectly done, the sauce was wonderfully blended. Every spice could be tasted, but nothing overpowering. It took an hour for me to eat this meal. I was in no hurry. Nice ambiance (low lights and decibels) for evening dinner conversation. read more

My fiancée and I love Tamarind, it has quickly become one of our favorite places for a romantic night out. A hidden gem, this lovely Thaï restaurant puts out some seriously great food for a reasonable price. My favorites are the "Tigre qui pleure" or "Crying Tiger" and the lamb curry (it reminds me of a creamy Indian curry, only even more delicious). I've tried a few really great Thai places in Paris, so to get something so mediocre was sad when I know there are some much better options. The tofu was a bit funny, there were huge chunks of egg, and overall it just wasn't as flavourful as it could or should have been. The portion was huge, but I'd rather have a tiny portion of something amazing than a huge one of something that was just meh. read more

This was my first Thai meal since moving to Paris. What can I say, it was wonderful. I was more than pleasantly surprised. My starter the green mango salad with soft shell crab was divine. The main course, lamb shank in a red curry sauce. Wow! The spiciness reverberated around my mouth. The waitress ensured it was the right level of spice; I love hot food! It really hit the mark. It wasn't a meal to wolf down, but one to savour. Though I was full the the citron vert sorbet was a delicious conclusion to the meal with the added bonus of a shot of vodka. J'aime Paris, but sometimes I want more vegetables which is what drove us to look for Asian food tonight. Tamarind was a most delightful surprise. Cozy but elegant in a space capped with original old wood beams, you knew you were in Paris while at the same time a bit transported. The staff was warm and welcoming, letting me practice my French but also more than accommodating for English speakers. But the best part? The food. Incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, delicious and spicy. Like real spicy. We started with the shrimp cakes, then shared the red curry shrimp (served heads on and arranged in beautiful butterflies knots, they were so much more flavorful than shrimp cooked without the heads)and the green curry chicken (perfectly balanced and super spicy). For sides we had the veg in oyster sauce which included perfectly cooked mushrooms, broccoli, bol choi, peppers, carrots and bean sprouts (I will go back just for these). Fantastic! read more

My favorite thing about giving this place the full on 5 stars is that, honestly, I wasn't expecting much. Even though there were so many good reviews of this place, my bar for Thai food in Paris is so low that I couldn't imagine giving a Thai resto more than 3 stars. On top of that, I didn't really think that a restaurant in this tourist-filled area would actually be good. But I have to eat my words and give full props to Tamarind. The food was seriously delicious, the ambiance was classy, and the service was excellent. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals immensely. I had the vegetarian Tom Kha Phak soup to start. My only very minor complaint is that it could have been a bit more creamy (more coconut milk), hotter (to cook the vegetables in the soup a bit more), and had a few more veggies (I like baby corn, personally). Regardless, it was still excellent. For my main dish I had the vegetarian tofu green curry, which was absolutely wonderful. The tofu was actually good, not like many places which just add the plain stuff. And the curry itself was excellently spiced. The server asked each of us how hot we wanted our meals and actually delivered. Normally when I ask for spicy food in France, I get a pepper on the side of the dish and blandness galore. But here they really integrated the spice into the flavors. By the end, my mouth was burning at the exact level I wanted. For dessert the table shared the banana roti, the lemon sorbet, and the mango sticky rice. Generally, I dislike desserts in Asian restos. But these were excellently refined, maintained their Thai flavors, and didn't weigh you down like a traditional French chocolate cake dessert (which was still on the menu...gotta make the Frenchies comfortable, of course). We shared a very good and reasonably priced bottle of wine. To top it off, the decor was high quality and authentic - no kitch - the kind of place you could feel upscale without stuffy. And the service was excellent. Extra bright points for the tourist and English-speaking crowd are that you can reserve online, there are menus in English, and the staff speaks English. This place officially beats my former favorite Thai place in Paris, Krung Thep. Very happy, and will be back. read more
