People are helpful and encouraging. Some of the best people around. The head instructor Roberto is extremely skilled, practicing all that he preaches. He is there on the mat rolling with everyone and working out with newcomers. He teaches well but more importantly he troubleshoots well. It is difficult to find a skilled practitioner who is also able to visualize how you are attempting to follow but missing something. I walked in and was greeted by Professor. Snow and his wife who were warming up. They paused introduced them selves and gave me the info on everything they do. Came back and got in on their open mat on Wednesday. They have a lot of talent that comes in and a diverse class schedule. Women's open mats happen occasionally and hopefully find a slot in the rotation. The kids classes are taught by Coach Ashley and I have been acting as her assistant when I can get off work early enough. I give this place 4 stars based on the quality of Jiu Jitsu, the 5th star is reflective how Sam and his wife run the dojo. It's always neat and clean and they treat everyone like family. I am the newest member and they go above and beyond, asking me how my move and settling into my new community. I began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here in July of 2014 and have really seen and felt I have made huge jumps toward my fitness goals (I am down well-over 25 lbs from when I started; have increased strength, and increased my day-to-day level of energy greatly). In addition to that, training here has actually delivered beyond what I initially expected: the training they provide just makes you feel great. Steve was helpful in helping us determine what we wanted to do long term with Tae Kwon Do. He allowed us to try out Judo classes for a week as well as the upper Kata and sparring class. My son loves coming here and although seating can be limited, we do too! Tip: During belt testing, bring a lawn chair and snacks for your kiddo. This place is also great and making sure you get your money's worth! We ordered swords for kata class and they came in but Steve and team weren't happy with the quality so they promised new ones while letting us have the one that came in to use until the better ones come in. They really look and act like a family here. There is a parent association group that helps raise money for tournaments, etc. All in all, we love it here and it's worth the drive for us!
